  1. Got a notice from the DMV in reference to my wife's ID application today. It said they were unable to complete her application because DHS - Bureau of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement is unable to validate the documentation presented. We used her EAD to prove lawful presence. Question: Is it because the EAD used will expire on 02/28/07 or because our final security check is still pending? I will call on Friday to see what they need. I'm thinking I may need to provide the complete documentation (797C) of the whole process from I129F through the AOS interview. Or we just may be screwed until the security check is complete. Any thoughts?
  2. Well, my wife is working part time (10 hrs per wk) as a teacher's aid at SF City college. It has done quite a bit for her self esteem. The bad news, we should have filed for the renewal in late November or early December but didn't because we figured the GC would show up and my wife did not want to spend the money. I did manage to shave off two weeks by getting the bio done as soon as we got the notice, rather then waiting for the appointment date. I hope that makes a difference. Who knows........Judging from last year's timeline, BIO to Card in hand, we just might make the 2/28 deadline. If not, she will be off the payroll. She is ready for her return trip to China this summer and will spend a month or so. I'll go for about the last two weeks and we will tour Hunan. I'm looking forward to seeing Uncle Mao's birthplace and I'll be sure to bring home some of the old commie souvenirs. So this weekend I'll put the AP in the mail along with the $170 check.
  3. We are in the process of renewing our EAD. Is the processing time faster or the same as the initial EAD? thanks
  4. that's an interesting idea.. but I worry that by that time, so many things have to be changed.. so it's really a trade off. My wife will just keep her name so my lazy ass will never have to think about it We opted to go the Chinese way, so my wife will keep her name.
  5. This has really turned into a "Hard Luck" case. In the real world a manager can phone or email another manager in an office on the other side of the world to resolve an issue. Posting your story will help others to not take things for granted. Good Luck and keep us posted.
  6. You should pass with no problems. Now get ready!
  7. For her to leave her home country just to marry you is a big endevour. You should let her know that you'll see to it she gets back home safely if things don't work out. You may want to plan extensive travel together in China; this will help you to work as a team. Also you must face the fact that she may not like the US and would prefer to live in China, with or without you. And you should face another fact that things will work out just fine. Learn to keep you chi positive or you may defeat yourself before you even get started. Go to China and have fun.
  8. Me and Lin went to the Manhatten Office. We didn't have an appointment and got into the building, however we could not talk to anyone. The only thing they let you do is use the info pass machine to set up a meeting. I had an info pass meeting for 1/9/06. I cancelled it and set one up for 1/4/06. The denial letter was dated 12/12/06, I could wait until after our info pass meeting on 1/4 to file the appeal or I could file the appeal now to ensure it is received before 30 days. Suggestions ???????? Toni......I'd wait and go to the 1/4/07 InfoPass appointment. This thing should be resolvable in an InfoPas Appointment. If you happen to get an IO who doesn't want to help you, ask to speak with her/his supervisor......as this is an urgent situation! Keep up the faith.....that it'll all work out! I know how frustrating it can be!! PapaBear My gut feeling is the IO may acknowledge the screwups with the system as our IO was making some comments about how our file was assembled during our AOS interview. You have a week to get ready....."Living life on the edge"...."You're at your best"....
  9. Plastic bags are more like it. I can't find anything around here anymore. Everything gets sealed in plastic shopping bags and "saved for later".
  10. Don't forget the paperwork to prove you moved to take a new job. Time to do battle.
  11. My wife says her closet is full. Should I be worried about the stuff in my closet?
  12. I was thinking. Since we are in AOS name check hell; should we file a petition and try to get a judge to grant status? Any thoughts? Merry Xmas.
  13. I added my wife on my CitiBank accounts (in person) with: Passport/Visa Chinese ID SSN Phone & Gas bill with her name on them.
  14. Welcome; you made it. Did you notice how fat Americans are?
  15. Use a Chinese laundry... SPEND MONEY... And you claim to be married to a Chinese woman... I have to get this energy cost thing cleared up...Laopo tells me that electricity is cheap and gas is expensive... I donknow... And I will check on the coal powered applainces also... Maybe you should buy your wife a "country girl" to take care of the house. On the other hand, if you can't find what you need locally you can check out some of the major stores in HK. My sisters in law from GZ had to go to HK to get the baby stroller they wanted.
  16. You might give Sanyo Electric of HK a look. http://www.sanyohk.com/main/product.php?ca...egory_code=3ISI May find something that fits your needs searching Japanese products.
  17. How about a bowl of "nodos" (noodles). Can't complain though; if I say something in Cantonese she just laughs in my face and says it is wrong.
  18. All I can say is we got ours in about 70 days or so.
  19. Maybe OT but one thing I remember from my China visits is when we went to the book stores there were always pleanty of kids sitting on the floor reading. I don't see that here.
  20. We're all set. After a good night's sleep and some rational thought I've switched modes and ready to do battle again. We hit the SSA on Friday at 08:00 and the DMV at 12:00. The job starts on 18 Jan. so we should make it.
  21. The issue with the SS is that we put in two request for the card and SSA said they were mailed but were not received. We did get the print out though. Our third attempt was to have the card sent to the office and pick it up in person but that request was blocked by DHS because the visa (I94) hit the 90 day mark. DMV shut us down because there was less than 90 days on her visa(I94). Since she was in school and doing something positive I elected to go ahead with the AOS and pick things up again when we got the GC. I got tired of taking days off just to be shut down. After some though, I will reschedule the InfoPass for early Friday and try the SSA after that. Friday is my day off. Maybe the FBI will "dust" things off and clear us.
  22. Update: Wife says the school needs a SSC and state ID to get the job. Can't get either since we are still in the AOS security check Black Hole. Wife not happy and said I should call "them". Made InfoPass appointment for Wednesday.
  23. "Let¡¯s face it, you have an office full of women, of course they would single you out as the new hire especially if you¡¯re a ¡°foreigner¡± coming into the company. Women are worst then men with it comes to office gossip." I've found that instead of moving the work team forward; some women will most often destroy the team over non work related matters.
