  4. Would you give someone $$$$ if they told you they can get you through the system in two months?
  5. Perhaps a law should be passed that only allows educated people to vote.

  7. Go to the Chinese book store and find a Pie Mei cook book.

  10. She did at first. But after she spent time with her aunt here in SF, she came home with a bunch of storage containers. It's like that with many things. I suggest something and she says no. Once it gets cleared by her aunt or cousins its OK. And yes; she tells me that BBQ will give me cancer. I've been able to get around this somewhat by sealing things in foil and/or using a water pan for slow cooking/smoke.
  11. Just make sure you have everything with your "carry on" when you travel. I remember a post where someone put their packet with their checked luggage.
  12. Don't forget the Dragon Boat Race too: http://www.sanfranciscochinatown.com/event...onfestival.html http://www.sanfranciscochinatown.com/event...dragonboat.html
  13. You can get a good price if you stay in Foshan. It's about 25 miles SW of GZ.
  14. My wife is currently in school but wants to work also. Next weekend she will be in SF Chinatown to do some volunteer work for the Moon Festival. http://www.sanfranciscochinatown.com/event...onfestival.html

    hotel in GZ

I am at Mr. Yang's hotel at the moment. It is clean, comfortable, and for a two bedroom with shower and full kitchen, 280 RMB. Even a small washing maching so that you don't have to lug so much clothes to China. It ain't the Ritz, but are you here for a vacation or to pass the interview? Need something? Just call Mr. Yang. Someone will be knocking on your door shortly. It's in the same building as the consulate (Building "B" of the complex), but a different entrance. Tomorrow morning, we go down the elevator, go around the corner to the west side of the building, and get in line. Citic bank to pay the visa fee is a long block away, and there are two 7-11's (no coffee, can you believe it???). Mr. Yang and his staff have been most helpful, and have spent a lot of time with Manyun. He goes all out to ensure that you are comfortable, satisfied, and ready for the interview. They found a glitch that could have caused a blue slip (my I-134 was notarized, but she didn't put the actual stamp on the page. I walked over to the consulate, went up to ACS, and had it notarized by a consulate officer for free). Hope that helps. Questions? We'll be here through the weekend. Mike I always go to the grocery store and stock up on Nestle's Instant Coffee when I'm in China.
  16. My wife always compares the efficiently of US & Chinese government services. Guess who's ahead?
  17. I can say no problem here in California. Check this site: http://evergreenseeds.stores.yahoo.net/index.html
  18. Do you have a print out of her SSN?
  19. As David said: For our AOS/EAD I used a single file folder. EAD on the left and AOS on the right (cover letters w/checks on top); all two punched and attached with ACCO fasteners.
  20. "Visarite" looks promising but I don't know how good they are. I attached the lilnk. Sometimes it's best to let a service handle things like this even if it may cost a little more IMHO. I didn't see any available info on the Chinese Embassy website. -good luck. http://www.visarite.com/Chinese_Passport_Name_Amendmant.htm Embassy services to Chinese citizens look like they are in Chinese only. Have you tried calling your local embassy?
  21. I just got my wife her immunization paper (I-693A) signed by a civil surgeon and she received no shots. She showed the marks on her arm, answered some questions, I paid $20 and that was the end of our civil surgeon experience. The vaccinatioon supplement is required for the interview - some people who didn't include it in the original submission have been RFE'd, so it's best to do it now and include it with the I-485. The surgeon will have this form, but some insist on giving her a full medical - shop around. Don't forget to get two signed copies in case the service center misplaces it and also include it with your interview packet.
  22. My only thoughts are: Citizenship is a big decision; why not let the child make it at age 18.
