  1. Hi Everyone: Wanted to stop by and wish everyone a great 2010 and to share our latest milestone. Lin got his 10 year greencard. It was relatively easy, no interview no additional requests for info. All is well!!! Hope everyone is doing good. Toni
  2. Thanks Randy .. I hope it goes as seemless for me .. my last interview did not go well and I am praying that I don't have to go and see them again.
  3. Thanks .. I have some travel documents too where I had to travel for work and paid for and took my husband with me, should I send those?
  4. Thanks .. thats a great cover letter, I think I will copy your format. I see the price was less then half in 2004 :-) .. but I am happy to pay any amount to get this done ..
  5. Hi Everyone: In June Lin and I have to apply to remove his conditions on his 2 year green card. Im kind of worried because we went through so much crap getting the 2 year card. Do they often deny the 10 year card? Here are some things that I am worried about 1) Lin went to China in March for 3 months, I was supposed to go for a while in the middle of his visit but can't because I can't get the time off from work due to tight project schedule dates. Will they give us problems because he was out of country without me for 3 months right before we applied? 2) I have documentation; both names are on all our bank accounts and we file joint tax returns and we have the joint medical cards and use the same doctors .. but his name is not on our house and he does not have a job and his name is not on the credit cards. 3) We are not picture people, we have a few pictures but not ALOT over the last 2 years Any advice? Toni
  6. Hey Bob: Wow . .your already getting the 10 year green card. Your wife arrived 5 days after my Lin (seems like just yesterday when we were freaking out waiting for the interview results ) .. Well anyway I can't race with you and Rogar we just got the 2 year greencard. But this is good, now I can bug you with questions about what I need to do when our time comes
  7. Just an observation but on our current visit to China, Lin's friends and family mentioned that their little city has had an increase in crime including a guy being shot in his aun'ts building which was unheard of in the past in this little town. Not mentioned in the same time I noticed that both Lin's parents jobs are going away. The mothers company had reductions and the fathers company is being bought out and his division closed. So perhaps there is a link. While we were here we were in a mall and some peasent girl was following us. Lin tells her to fuck off or he will bang her. I being the stupid foreigner asked why he was so mean and he said she was a pick pocket.. I guess if she had any illusion that Lin was a foreigner it went away very quickly.
  8. We received the Welcome letter on Tuesday but are waiting for the card to be in hand before celebrating. I am thinking for our real celebration of taking a vacation in March. My sister invited us to stay in her condo in Kahana HI and Lin also wants to go to China .. so I awas thinkinggggggggggg ... MAYBE .. just Maybe we could go from NY to Hawaii for a week and then to China for 10 days. If that isn't possible then we will just go to China.... I would love to do the double vacation though.
  9. Today we got another notice so I finally believe it. Now hopefully they will send it to the right address. For the interview they sent the letter to the temporary corporate housing address we don't live at (even though I have changed the address by sending in the form, calling in and changing it online twice to the correct address). Because I am listed as his representative they sent me a copy at our real address so thats the only way we knew we had an interview. Hopefully they fixed it this time. I'll call to have them check so we are not stuck trying to get a replacement for the card we never got. 10. Joanne, your in Philadelphia now? I thought you were going to NY? I lived in a suburb outside of Philly for 7 years, it's not bad there. North East Philly has some good Vietnamese restaurants and a great Korean barbaque. Chinatown in the city has some decent dim sum. Valley Forge Park has a great trail to walk through the woods if you like to do that. If you are still there on New Years its nice to go to Penns Landing and watch the fireworks, they have a good show. We would always go and get cheesesteaks at Pat's and then watch the show .. it can be a little crowded though.
  11. We had an interview on 9/10/2007 for Lin's green card and didn't recieve the expected welcome letter. This morning when I checked my email I was notified that our status changed and it now says this: Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS Current Status: Card production ordered. On October 16, 2007, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register. I am assuming this means they are sending the green card and that we passed? Anyone know? Regards Toni
  12. Yes, indeed where an appeal is allowed. There are many AOS cases that are denied without the option to appeal, forcing the applicant to either reapply, or file a motion to reopen. When Sarah's AOS was denied, we received a Notice of Decision from the USCIS emphatically stating that: "There is no appeal to this decision. However, the applicant may file a motion to reopen in accordance with 8 C.F.R. 103.5. Furthermore, this decision is without prejudice to future applications filed with the appropriate US Citizenship and Immigration services office." This is the same message I got and it was a motion to reopen which granted us the new interview. Even with that you need to pay the 385 fee to file a motion to reconsider or reopen
  13. We had to pay another 385 for the appeal but they haven't asked for any more money for the additional biometrics. So far that is the only additional expense except of course for all the days off I had to take to keep going to INFOPASS appointments to get our case moving. I would encourage you not to pay any more money. Your case appears to be all administrative errors and therefore qualifies to be reopened without fee. While there isn't a form specific to that, all you need do is type "Motion to Reopen Without Fee" at the top of the letter. I am already beyond that point because I already paid and the case was already re-opened. I expect that would not work because when I filed my appeal I sent photo copies of the appeal request to both the CA office and the NY office and they CA office wouldn't keep it because there was not a check in there only a copy of the check I sent to Missouri. The reply said not accepted due to non payment. I don't care about the 385 I am just happy that I don't have to start all over again with the new fee which is more then 1000.00
