  1. Thanks guys Dan you raise a good question about the ELIS giving the mail option. I started thinking about this and went back into the ELIS site. I noticed on the left hand side there is a link/button to VIEW PROFILE. There if gives the option to add an address. When i get home from work I'll add some more screen shots to the pinned topic that randy made. Mike
  2. As the title says. The fees have been payed and was just wondering where it gets sent to? Does the POE know or does USCIS take care of this. Mike
  3. I though there visas where good for 6 months? Never mind i just reread your post and see medical will expire soon.
  4. Well i just finished creating an account on the ELIS site for my sister in law and nephew. I must say JUST to open this account has to be the worst pain in the ass. After twenty question (More than) and many email verifications i finally got long in. IMO: This had to be the worst part of this entire process just to create an account for a green card. (BS) We all think that going down this visa road is rough? Just try getting the green card finished and paid for. I have an easier time logging into my company bank account. OK! I'm done with my rant. During this whole process i made some screen shots for ya. Just to give all the ones that just received there new visa what to look forward to next. (Doug? Good luck to ya buddy creating this account, It's a pain in the ass) Any how here is what it look like (After you jump through all the hoops) and get logged in. (NOTE: The very first picture/paragraph it clearly states ANYONE can pay the green card fee) This contradicts my first post and once account is created you will see different rules. Read everything you see in these photos, It will help you later down the road. Notice the red box i have highlighted on the right side of the photo. These are the ONLY 3 things you can update with out submitting new documents. Here you can add/update your address. As others have said the POE should have this info when you arrive in the U.S. I added/updated this info just to have a piece of mind. I will keep this updated as time goes by. From entry to the U.S. to SS number to Green card.
  5. Doug, I know every case is different but ours took 8 days from issued to in hand. Happy days are coming soon buddy!! Mike
  6. :yahoo: Great news buddy, Congrats :yahoo:
  7. Doug, that looks identical to page 3 of my wife's own white book birth certificate, which she got in 2005, except that Jiaying's did not have ANY ID numbers on it. Was any DNA testing or other proof required? I'm going to guess that you were fine all along with the birth certificate, since it WAS only the Chinese girl who actually said anything, UNLESS what you had given them originally was NOT the standard white book format. Can you post a copy of what you had originally submitted so that we can see the difference? Sorry to ask, but it seems this is worthwhile to try to cut through the speculation. Yep, That is the same as to one i posted above and always worked. The original one you submitted is something i have not seen before. Great you got it all worked out!
  8. Um? I know thing things have changed over the last 10 years form the last time i went down this road. Maybe I'm wrong during this time but back in the day DON'T poke GZ. I know each and every case is different. Huh? Are you suggesting that sending them a 'email' through their IV inquiry webform is detrimental? That makes sense if it's argumentative but... what if you have legitimate questions? I don't think it's even a consular officer that replies to the inquiries; it's probably some Chinese staffers working in the GZ IV unit, right? My point was that in every case it's probably best to prepare as much stuff as you can, separating what's 'required' and what's extra so if it's asked for in the interview then it can be given. But, like I think Randy would probably say, you can't give something you don't have so don't go crazy over stuff. But your point is an important one, Mike; you can prepare everything that's asked for and more so, but there's a good chance that it still won't be enough and that the case might get blue-slipped. Everybody should adjust their expectations and attitudes accordingly: you shouldn't be shocked and disappointed when blue-slipped, and you should plan accordingly so that any blue-slip request can be handled (for example: don't buy two tickets to the US and have your spouse do an interview like a week before your current Residence Permit expires and you have to be out of the country because you aren't going to have enough time to deal with the blue-slip and get the visa issued and picked up). Just to clarify, mike, are you suggesting that submitting inquiries by webform on the GZ USCIS IV contact page is bad for your case? I'm screwed then because I sent two messages. NO! That is what the web form is for, To ask question. Though GZ will have a record of it. I wouldn't worry about it. Also it's going to take 45-60 days before you get a reply. All I'm saying IF you can bring updated tax forms, Then bring them, If not then don't worry about. You have nothing to loss and everything to gain. I have seem over on VJ many members having issues AOS (I-864) I submitted an updated 1040 during interview last week even though i did not file it with the IRS yet. On our interview letter it said it might be a good idea to bring updated tax forms to interview. The key word here is might be a good idea and said nothing that it was required. I was just being prepared just in case. Mike.
  9. Well my sister in law and her son received there passports with the new visas today. next step is paying the Green card fees (165.00$) online at ELIS site. Note the last paragraph. Does this mean ONLY my sister in law can pay the fees? Or can the petitioner open an account and pay the fees himself? Mike
  10. My wife is the same. I mentioned carrying it to her a little while back and...........we'll just say that she said "no." Charles my friend! What's up? Yes, Hong says the same. NO!!! keep in safe place. Out here in the sticks of Ohio she has no need for her GC. But when we do travel the GC travels too. Mike
  11. Thanks guys! Carl: You have no idea how happy the wife is at this moment. It's one thing to talk on the phone everyday with her sister but to have her coming here in the next few month? It's a dream come true for her. Plus her/our nephew is also coming here. Trust and believe i will be posting more once there here. I would like too say thank you again for all the help here on CFL. Dan, Randy, Ronny, Carl, Doug and all of the rest of the CFL family. Zhenghong and myself say thank you. Mike
  12. Um? I know thing things have changed over the last 10 years form the last time i went down this road. Maybe I'm wrong during this time but back in the day DON'T poke GZ. I know each and every case is different. This is just my opinion but it is very easy to fill out your tax forms and bring them to the interview. Give them to your SO for interview day and summit them during document intake, It can't hurt! (HINT! the VO will not take anything your SO has in hand during interview) Over the last 10 years i have seen GZ pull out the blue slip wanting current tax papers or updated AOS Just because the instructions say to BRING THIS? don't mean GZ will ask for something else you did not prepared for. You need to think outside of the box and be VERY! prepared for any and all questions during the interview. On interview day/Document intake will be the only time you will be able to let the VO see what you have. Better too have more than less. You need to feel what your gut says and you hart. Back in the day many would say front load your case with all the info you can get. Myself? I believe were giving GZ to much ammo and more opportunity to ask more question during the interview. I have done this twice now. First time i only gave GZ what was asked for in the instructions, Nothing more, nothing less. Received visa after a small bump in the road with a blue slip. First time questions asked? Wanted to see updated I-864. Given a blue slip for non vaccination for CR-1 This time around i only gave (Front load) 6 pictures and was only asked 2, IMO stupid question. Where did you meet? and how old are you? Visa issued just like that. The morel of this story is GZ can AND will ask for anything they want. GZ is the law and is god and they ALWAYS win! There is nothing you/we can do about it but do as they ask. As Ronny would say. We all get the visa in the end. Good luck my friend and God speed. Mike
  13. Nope! Another 60 days my friend. I have seen many over on VJ try but in the end had to wait another 60 days. Sorry. Mike
  14. Been watching this post and figured i would take a step back and let the pro's take the lead. Now after reading the posts/reply's i will say this. As Dan (dnoblett) and Carl (Warpedbored) have said there are some risks. Some very high risk going down this road. tourist visa then marriage does not look good to the eyes of the QZ gods. Too many questions during interview and red flags My wife has a friend that tried this just this year and was banned from coming back. GZ has there eye a little more open now for this. I would follow dnoblett advise. Dan is the man!
  15. No you will not be able to join your SO during her interview. She will be on her own. You will have to wait outside the consulate. we just had our interview(IR1/IR2) last week 03/02/15. Our interview letter clearly stated to bring current year tax records to interview. Don't worry my friend! Just fill/do your taxes and make a copy of your 2014 taxes. (1040,1040A or1040EZ) and print out the completed forms for interview. GZ does not care if you have submitted your current taxes to the IRS. they just need to check your $$$ This is what i did and our interview went great with visa issued Good luck. Mike
  16. I put my dime in the kitty. Thanks Carl! Mike
  17. It's okay to be specific as the evidence is in. The bureaucracy and political corruption runs so deep in American immigration, one would be better off using the Vegas roulette wheel and putting their life savings on black. Or maybe red. But, at least with American immigration you can get your money back if you choose the wrong color, right? Please lets not turn this into a political discussion. (CLF posting rules) Mike (C4Racer) has asked some very valid questions in this thread and has a lot of merit to the new comers of the forum. I myself have just finished going down this road (Again) for the second time as has mike. He is only a few days/weeks behind me and should be able to see the light at the end of this long tunnel. Please lets keep on topic and focus on the questions at hand. We have family's life's at stake here. My name is also: Mike (AKA Nuworld)
  18. Yep! The wait is the killer! Though once reviewed and all is good (No RFE) it will be case complete. Then about 7-10 days after that you will get interview notice. NVC gave us a 3 week notice before interview. Worst case would be getting an RFE. Then that 60 day wait starts all over again. Mike
  19. A very short and sweet post. My nephew will be here soon. He is 17 years old and in high school (China) What documents and papers should he get from china so he can attend high school here in the states? Mke
  20. No, this talks about what they typically SEE from the Chinese authorities in the white books. My assertion here is that the Consulate CAN NOT and DOES NOT make ANY demands on what the "birth certificate" looks like - that THEIR job is to recognize and ACCEPT what is STANDARD ISSUE from the Chinese authorities. I think the CONFUSION stems from the term "birth certificate" being MISINTERPRETED (by people like your Chinese girl at the document intake and by any number of Western visa petitioners who don't know any better) as indicating the NEW format. The NEW format falls under CHINESE law as requiring parental verification. Your wife DOES NOT fall under this law unless she just absolutely NEEDS one of these new birth certificates - I don't think the consulate can demand it. I hate to tell you to just submit another white book (as per NuWorld's post), but I really think that's what they're looking for. Then again, you're smack in the middle of all this. Can you post a question to the Consulate's email web page? I was thinking the same. I too visit VJ daily and there are many post on this subject. It seams to me that someone at GZ has there eyes closed and NOT doing there job. I can't think of any other way around this other than send them the format i stated above. Also include the form/paper you quoted in my post above and i would also include a letter stating what Randy said. Also as much as i hate to say this: Maybe time to call Marc Ellis for some input? IMO: There has been no postings on DOJ,NVC,USCIS,GZ or any other government web site that i have found about this new format. ( I think someone at GZ is pulling your chain?) Even on VJ as Randy stated some are doing this NEW FORMAT?? The thing with VJ is that you have members from all over the world going to different consulates and each consulate has there own rules. Even in the Chinese forum on VJ there are post like this. For the almost 10 years i have been going down the road, the WHITE BOOK has always been the rule and law! Also, Please do not take this the wrong way, But i would drill your SO about exactly! what was asked and said during her interview. Some where there was a red flag raised. Take care buddy and the best of luck to ya. Keep us updated. Mike
  21. Doug: This is the format for the (White book) I have been down this road twice now and never had a problem with GZ. We just received two visa's this week as you know. You need this book or have you already submitted this? (Twice in this format?) Though these are back in 2006: This week was for sister in law and nephew. (Still same format) Still i submitted the same format 7 months ago with no problems.
  22. Great news buddy!!! Congrats! Ya got me on that two month thing. Good luck my friend. Mike
  23. Well folks it is a PINK day!! Both sister in law and nephew pasted there interview. they got in line at 7:45am and where out the door by 8:15am. They where the 7th ones to be called up for interview. They where only asked one question each. Sister in law: How did you meet Bob - QQ Nephew: How old are you - 17 GUZ never asked to see anything else VISA ISSUED! It was a 5 minute interview. I'm not sure what the record is form NOA1 to visa but this case only took 7 months to visa. Sister in law is staying at the yangs and out of the 10 people staying there only 3 got visas today. My hat is off to the Yangs again for all your help. I bow to you Mr yang. Thank you!!!
  24. Warren: There is some VERY! good advice given here in this thread and from some of the best veterans here on candle. Carl,Ronnie,Doug and myself all have had issues with getting our love ones here to the states. GZ is god and they pencil in the rules as they go from one day to the other. There word is final!! Now on the other hand? Yes years ago it took 12-14 months to get through this process. Each and every case is different and from one day to the other changes, Why you may ask? Good question. Remember i said GZ is god, Just hang around here on candle and you will see and learn all the hoops that may need jumping through. Talking about hoops! The man that jumped through the most has got to be Ronnie (tsap seui) he knows about hoops and the GZ gods. I remember when i was just a newbie here on candle back in 2006 there where white and blue slips just a flying out of GZ. Shit, I got a blue, Carl got a blue and tsap seui got the BIG ONE! white ( I can remember just like it was yesterday following his story) did he quit and give up? Hell no: Improvise,Adapt and Overcome! We all learn this on candle, If not for questions asked here, we would not learn the system. Now 9 years later, I'm going down this visa road again. Though for some reason my current case has only taken 9 months (Why? God only knows) from start to interview Not for myself, But........I will update on Monday. The old timers know my story here on candle. Warren: The morel of this story is, just relax, ask questions as needed and as we say here on candle buy a lot of Cheetos. Good luck my friend and welcome to Candle for Love. One more thing: Everyone gets a visa in the end, No matter how long it takes. Remember: Improvise,Adapt and Overcome! and you will win. Mike
