  1. An incredibly mournful day... Beyond sad... I know some of you think that Carl never gave out much about himself here. This was the kind of man Carl was. Someone who would not brag about himself. Yet, Candle for Love is still around because of all Carl gave and his devotion. He was an incredible friend to those who would take the time to know him. I will never forget Carl. Our first dinner together in Beaverton. Hell, I met Carl and learned about Candle before I actually met my wife. His wife Bing introduced my wife and I. I was at Carl's wedding. He and Bing were our witnesses. My heart goes out to Bing because I know she lost an incredible husband. Life's journey has it's ups and downs, it's joys and sorrow. The most devastating feeling in life come from the loss of friends and loved ones. Carl was like a brother I will never forget. I will always strive to remember. I am a better person today for the friendship Carl and I shared. Yes, I could have missed the pain, but I am better off having had him in my life. Good-bye Good Friend, May God Bless You and take you home
  2. Not sure if this is the best forum to ask. It does not belong in consulate or citizenship forums. We brought my wife's parents to live with us. They have been here since November of 2009. My wife told me today there is a form her parents need to fill out. We believe this should be gotten at the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco. She has been trying to call them for the last week. She said, the form is to confirm they are still alive. Once they fill out and submit the form, they will continue to get retirement. It is important to get this done as soon as possible. The question is: Is this form something we must get from the consulate? Are they the proper place to submit? Any one know where we can get the form? It has been rather hard to get it from them as they don't answer the phone? Could she be calling the wrong number? Any help someone could give will be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
  3. My mother-in-law is here on green card as of Nov 2009. We filed for her to become a US citizen, using a lawyer. The reason we decided to use a lawyer was due to claiming inability to learn English based on her medical condition. We did not know how to initiate this. Using a lawyer made sense. Wow, almost sorry we did not do more research on this. Mom had an interview. The legal assistant meet my wife and Mom at the interview. She had all of the documents except the last page. She made an excuse about delaying the interview, she would be back in 20 minutes with the last page. My wife made a feeble attempt at delaying, but they went ahead and had the interview. What an interview. It lasted over an hour and a half. One question directed at Mom. All the others were in relation to the legal assistant. How did we find her, what did she tell Mom. on and on. Towards the end of the interview, the agent said, you do not pass. He stated do not worry. You have answered everything we asked truthfully. You are not in any kind of trouble.Reason for not passing is N-648 Page 4 Question 10. not answered complete. It was only one sentence. And no explanation on why she could not learn English. Page six was also missing. Agent recommended seeing a different doctor. I assume this was based on the form not being filled out correctly. Well, now it seems the legal assistant has disconnected her office phone and changed her cell phone number. The interesting part is that she changed it several months ago. Makes me wonder if she already knew about possible problems. Since we could not reach the legal assistant, my wife took Mom to see the doctor to find out his part. He looked at what the legal assistant gave Mom. This is not what he gave her!! He produced what he filled out. Question 10 was not only filled out, but the continuation section was used to complete the answer. It also had page six, which is where Mom signs. He said, give this to immigration, things should be fine. Next we got a letter from immigration. Dated day after her interview. It is a continuance letter. It states to bring this letter with requested documents to next interview. On line shows Question: Should we just wait for a bit to see if we get an interview letter? or would it help to speed the process up to schedule an Info Pass appointment to turn in the documents?
  4. Ok - Paid the ELIS Fee after his entry since consulate failed to let us know it was needed. Paid November 23, 2015. It took until February 2016, but hey he got his Green Card in the mail. Thanks all
  5. I would leave it blank. You would know if you had an ELIS number. The ELIS number it is not the receipt number nor is it the A-number. It is issued once you create a USCIS Electronic Immigration System account. You are not able to create any new accounts since August 31, 2015. The log into that is system is: https://elis.uscis.dhs.gov/cislogin/login All you need to pay the ELIS fee is the A-number and the DOS Case Number aka: GZO number. You can do that at : https://www.us-immigration.com/blog/how-to-create-a-uscis-electronic-immigration-system-elis-account No log in or confusing instructions needed. Oh yeah - Hi Scott. Nice to see all is going good. Let me know if you have any other questions. Just brought my step-son (19) here. He arrived Sept 18.
  6. We need his A number to pay his ELIS Fee. No paperwork from consulate, no A number from them. It is suppose to be on his visa. The number on his visa is only 8 characters long. When I try to use it on the pay site, it says the A number should be nine digits. Any idea, short of a trip to the local USCIS office, where we can get his A number? OK. I answered my own question. Seems the number can be 7,8 or 9 digits. The pay site needs 9 digits. You just add a 0 to the begining. Here is a link to the info: https://e-verify.uscis.gov/esp/help/EvHelpAlienandI94Nbr.htm
  7. No. No one mentioned about another fee. He has nothing from the consulate about the fee. This web page says, they should have given him paperwork.
  8. My wife's son, Bingning, arrived in US on Sept. 18. He is an IR2 visa. I hear he can get US citizenship using his mom's status. She is USC since Jan 2009. No test. Is this true. How do we go about getting this done?
  9. Bingning, my wife's son, arrived September 18th to US on IR2. He is 19 years old.He should be automatic for green card. We have yet to see his green card or the welcome letter. Is this normal lately? Should I be calling to see where his card is at?
  10. Bingning has been here for two weeks. Guangzhou gave him his "Duty to Register with US Selective Service System". It states to visit the post office as the option. Using search engine, I see you can register online. I assume the register online method is okay. Any one have any reason this would not satisfy the requirement?
  11. Hey, Dan it is frustrating, but they do keep a file. Yes, they keep asking for the same thing over and over and over again. What they are looking for is consistency in the answers. They find those who are scamming the system by the inconsistency in their answers.
  12. We decided not to use it. There is plenty of time to get the passport back. His airline tickets are for Sept. 18. No need to spend any extra money.
  13. Wow, they are very impressive. Chinese consulate in Guangzhou needs to teach NVC how to get things done. We finished the form yesterday night. I worry they take a while to notice and set for delivery. Not so. They have already changed the status. It has been received from consulate and is out for delivery.
  14. OK, we filled out the CGI Stanley form, got a UID number and submitted the documents. Wow, I am impressed at the speed. Randy is right, they get down to business. The visa was issued. Bingning got a call / email /notification they don not know where to send documents. Ok. Looks like I forgot to include case number and did not fill out type of delivery and delivery address. .The passport is being held at the consulate. This is verified by the CGI Stanley website. Does just completing the form and filling out where to deliver complete the process? Do we need to call someone to help expedite this process? Is the premium service worth the extra cost? Pickup at a location is already paid, correct?
  15. Not sure if this is the right place to ask the question. My wife, naturalized USC, is going back to China for the first time in September. She will be getting a visa in her US Passport. The consulate makes her include her Chinese Passport with the application. She is worried they will cancel her China ID. Her thinking is never know when it could be useful in China. What is everyone's experience here, is this possible. Does China cancel ID if they know the person is now a USC?
