  1. The USCIS has announced that same sex couples can file for spousal visas. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=2543215c310af310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=2543215c310af310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD It is possible that we may get new members who are same sex couples with questions. If we do please give them the same consideration you would any other member with legitimate questions.
  2. I'm a bit confused here. What is the USCIS number? I have seen a LOT of numbers being used, such as the Social Security number, the A(lian) Number, and Receipt numbers. The space on the I-864 form has room for 12 digits (part 4, #13). Does every immigrant have such a number? Is it at all related to the A-Number? It does not seem available at https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/logon.do, nor in any documentation we have received. Thanks
  3. My wife and I submitted the I-130 petition and I-130a at the Beijing Embassy recently. I had assumed that all Beijing would do would be to check to see if the forms had been properly filled in and the necessary documents and copies had been included. However, they retained the originals of the marriage certificates and divorce certificates (Chinese), and told us that they would be investigating our case, and that we might be asked to provide more evidence to prove the genuineness of our marriage, and might even be interviewed. This was a surprise to me, as I had assumed that sort of thing would only be done by the Guangzhou consulate. My wife had previously been married to another American citizen, and he began the immigration visa process which was not completed. I notice that the new edition of the I-130 petition (p.5, Part 4, #10) does ask "Has anyone else ever filed a petition for the beneficiary?"...which wasn't asked before, if I remember correctly. So evidently the US government is being more careful of such cases...something I have worried about for years. When I asked what the process would involve, I was given a very vague answer...really no answer at all. And I was told that the process might take up to three months to complete before the petition was either accepted and sent on to Guangzhou or denied. Can anyone tell me what Beijing will do as part of its "investigation", and whether it is SOP to retain marriage and divorce documents? I have asked in another thread if I had cause to worry that my wife's previous marriage to another American would cause problems, but didn't receive much response. The fact is that her previous marriage, on the surface at least, does seem sort of shady. Is the retention of the marriage and divorce documents a sign that we will in fact have a problem, or is it just standard procedure? Thanks in advance for your help.
  4. I have an upcoming appointment that I can't make to file an I-130 for my wife. We are kind of last minute getting the marriage notarial certificates (and others for later) ready for the filing and we feel like we won't make the time this Thursday. I called the consulate in Guangzhou and they said we could file on a Friday during the public hours if we needed to. The reason I can't set an appointment is the next available appointment is the middle of May, and I will be on a business trip for more than a month in the USA starting May 11th. Does anyone have experience in filing an I-130 during public hours on Friday in GUZ? Thanks, Nathan
  5. I have a question about DCF in Guangzhou. I have talked to the people that work at Guangzhou. They have told me my wife who is a Chinese citizen can come in the building with me when I file our I-130 form. I always thought a Chinese citizen could not come in the building until it's time for the interview. Thank you
  6. USCIS will increase immigration application filing fees next month, up to $570 on December 23rd 2016! Applications and petitions postmarked or filed on or after December 23, 2016, must include the new higher filing fees or USCIS will reject your submission. Avoid paying the higher fees. Prepare & submit your immigration application before the December deadline.
  7. Information here is current as of April 26, 2017. For up to date information, click on the link to the specific office, or check the USCIS web site. The Guangzhou USCIS office can accept walk-ins - the Beijing office states that they do not. American Citizen Services can also help Chinese citizens who need American services provided . 8. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/a-decade-into-a-project-to-digitize-us-immigration-forms-just-1-is-online/2015/11/08/f63360fc-830e-11e5-a7ca-6ab6ec20f839_story.html?tid=sm_tw Has anyone tried to use the online form to renew a greencard? Though they don't mention you can update your address online if you are a green card holder but not an I-865 sponsor (or is it vice-versa?). Gives you the reason why.
  9. Well my sister in law and her son received there passports with the new visas today. next step is paying the Green card fees (165.00$) online at ELIS site. Note the last paragraph. Does this mean ONLY my sister in law can pay the fees? Or can the petitioner open an account and pay the fees himself? Mike
  10. Many thanks to Mike NuWorld for the screen shots and write-up, which I've copied to a pinned topic from his original post http://candleforlove.com/forums/topic/47701-paying-the-green-card-fees/ This is normally done AFTER a successful interview, and before traveling to the U.S. Green card production will be ordered AFTER the visa recipient has been processed by the POE. If the fee has not been paid by that time, green card production will be delayed until it is paid.
  11. My wife and I live in Shandong province. I know that is under guangzhou jurisdiction. However, a friend told me that it's possible to file in Beijing and they would just forward it to Guangzhou. Is that true? Or must I go to Guangzhou to file? I'd rather not have to travel so far.
  12. Hi folks, First post. (I hear the groans already!) I'm in need of a reality check. I did what I thought was a lot of digging before submitting my I-130 for my lovely Yifang and her son. (kinda) Short version.... I live in the US, she lives in Hunan. We met through a mutual friend online in May of 2014 I flew to China and we married on November 27, 2014 While I was there, we gathered a lot of white books, copies for both of us. Working through RapidVisa, I got 4 affadavits for the bona fides for the package. They reviewed and passed on the package. I submitted the I-130s in January of 2015 Received the NOA1 January 26, 2015 from the NSC. Found you guys on February 1st. I was under the impression that the other items I'm arranging for the bona fides were to be added into the package when the NVC gets it. I have a lot....Pictures with her and her family, emails, chat transcripts, plane tickets, hotel receipts, etc. that add up to a few pounds of paper. I'm also planning my second trip there in april or so, and plan to be there during the interview. In the process of writing a letter to show our timeline of romance! The worry I have is that it seems as though the one chance I had to put in evidence of a relationship was in the original submission of the I-130. This is the impression I get from reading a lot of posts here. Did I pull a bonehead move, or do I have the opportunity to add in this evidence later at the NVC stage? I'm starting to sweat now after reading a lot of horror stories! Any advice? (besides don't be a bonehead?). Experiences and direction gratefully accepted.
  13. Hello, I am helping a good friend do his paper work to bring his new wife and her children to the US.. We got everything ready to send off to Chicago. I have one question. How much money should we have to send for the first round of paperwork. My math says $ 840, but for some reason my mind has $1120-1125 stuck in it. He is going the CR1/IR1 route. He is filing two I-130 (one for him and one for his wife) and four G-325A. ( one for himself, his wife, wife's older daughter, and one for his wife's younger daughter). Older daughter is turning 18 at the end of this month. So am I correct? $ 840 dollars? Just want to make sure I am correct. Thank You for your help. Danb
  14. Wow, what a long time, after almost 1 Year (filed in 1/19/12), the I130 for my wife and daughter finally got approved. It was a long brutal wait, but now it is up to NVC processing. Now I will concentrate on those topics.
