1. Hello everyone, I am planning to go to GUZ in late April. I know this has been asked before but can everyone give their suggestions of who got them the cheapest roundtrip flight? The place I used in the past (flychina.com) wants $810 roundtrip. All suggestions are welcome! Thank you, Larry
2. Thank you. I will wait two more weeks then. I definitely don't want to irritate them. 199898 Being your first request for help I do not think you will be punished. I suggest your Senator and Congressman. They will say it will take them 4 to 6 weeks anyway. Please try it. Larry
3. Yes obxtrainman, it seems screwy. BUT...when they give me two weeks until the interview I would wish it was only one week so there is really no pleasing us who wait so long for our true loves. Life is just screwy I think. Larry
4. Hi everyone, My Li sent back the P3 one day after she received it (Feb 24th). Still DOS has no word on it being entered into their system. I know GUZ is going faster since we first filed April 15th, 2004. Does anyone know what the length of time is now from mailing P3 to being entered in GUZ system and when P4 is sent with appointment date? We also completed a GUZ namecheck while waiting for the hard copy to arrive at NVC. Is there another namecheck that goes on when P3 is sent back? p.s. Timeline, please add us to your project... Thx, Larry
5. Bought a home almost 2 years ago for Li and I to live in. Up almost 20% is nice to see since I have been very lonely waiting for her. She will be excited if these numbers are correct. Signal Hill, CA Larry
6. Yes, NOT for the P3........but with the electronic file sent from NVC the GUZ completed another namecheck before our paper file was entered into their system, which was when our P3 was mailed. So it isn't just waiting, a nice thought that at least something happened.......at least for K-1 (I am not familiar with any other type cases). Larry
7. Congratulations on getting through NVC. Now your paper file is in the hands of Chinese customs. Don't expect anything to happen for a couple of months no matter how easy it sounds for them to release the package. Li and I are K-1 and the next thing that happened for us was that another name or security check was completed even before they got our paper file. GUZ entering the hard copy in their computer means your P3 will be mailed. Best of luck, Larry
8. Phnom, a hearty Congratulations to YOU !!!! It has been a long rocky road and both Li and I are thankful that you are sprinting to the finish line. Larry
9. If they asked you to call GUZ before then why didn't you? DOS has the same answer for you again. That makes no sense either, if GUZ had a question for you why didn't you call? If you have this person's name I have an email address you might want to contact for reprimand or ??. PM me. Larry
10. Hunter, my Li has excellent english skills. It seems Amy has asked her for help, they talk on 001. Li is happy to do this for her. We both have the same shipping date from the NVC. Li sent her P3 papers back the next day and I hope she can help you in your filing. Maybe we will meet at GUZ on the same day. You have sailed through this process with no barriers. Larry
11. Congratulations! I wish you the best as you complete this harrowing process! I am getting ready to send off my I-129F, and I was curious if you know what caused the delay? If you don't mind me asking, did you have a large work history or various places of residence? (like me...) Any alias names? Again, congrats and the best of luck! 193475 Thank you everyone for your encouragement and support. Our hearts feel warm for this. Li can not stop giggling and I can hear the smile in her voice when we talk now in IM. Li mailed the P3 back today. Li worked for a bank for 14 years and has no aliases. I have had my present job for 18 years with the U.S. Government and I have no alias names. It was just bad luck to spend 7.5 months at USCIS (CSC), then 1 year stuck at NVC. Actually we have known each other on the internet for over 6 years but just applied in April of 2004. I never dreamed it would take such a long time to get this far. I expected her here at Christmas in 2004! I hope the good wishes rub off on us now and we sail through from here on out. THANKS EVERYONE !!!! Larry and Li B)
12. Our P3 was mailed on 2/23 and Li got it on 2/24. It is such good news since our case is coming up on two years.
13. Applying for a Visa is a very confusing undertaking. I think you posted in 3 separate threads about a passport photo being used. I thought the question had been answered the first time. Maybe a lawyer could help you to better answer your concerns. I have one.
14. Phnom, you have been stuck at NVC for almost 7 months. Mine was over 12 months and Philb sat there for 9 months. Of course it seems like a long time for you and I understand your concern. After all, many get through in a month or less. I can't see your timeline but it seems you were hung up for 10 months somewhere else (CSC?). When I emailed Maura Harty I made the email short and after the first couple sentences posted my timeline. A long drawn out letter about paying a lot in taxes and being in the military might not be the best thing to keep her attention. Keep it short, simple and to the point. She is busy and unless you catch her eye she might not think 7 months is long enough for her to act as she did in Philb's case and mine. I know you are grasping at straws just as I was but please keep the faith. I think you already have a copy of the letter I emailed to Maura Harty. Be thankful you have been living with your SO in China and not alone here in the U.S.A. (if that helps). Regards, Larry
15. Jim, The dates are a concern because both Richard and I have ZERO touches since NOA1. So, I was just asking for other members to confirm that CSC is REALLY still working on K visas and not all those investigations in Orange County (MY County) here. -James 186098 James, I went through CSC in 7.5 months and it was a long time. I would not worry about any FBI investigation slowing up your petition. They process applications every day. I know someone who works at CSC and they don't stop because of an investigation. An investigation from a security agency can run on and on for years and I feel they don't stop everything just because a "breakthrough" of arrests after years finally came down. These arrests come into the public spotlight every now and then but the average honest person seems to be just FINE. You are honest and genuine and I wouldn't worry if they don't update their website as often as they should. You are still pretty early in this long long process. Best of luck, keep the faith! Larry
16. Nope! 186058 so what do they do in that background check? 186060 My guess is that mostly they check her background--after all you aren't the one migrating to America!!!!! Even if they did check your background, a dismissed misdemeanor wouldn't be cause for alarm. convicted felons have rights taken away but not those convicted of a misdemeanor. 186071 Hum. So what do they check for her background check? we already will give them police history latter on.... check to see if she is not a spy or anything ? I guess I look at the info we give them. addresses. employment (they don't even ask for a number or an address, just a name). Then we don't give them any chinese SS number, .... I really wonder what they can check really. I mean this is a serious question. Here in the us to run a background check, you need address, SS number, ... and even then, you barely pull what's on a credit report, not much more 186075 I'm told that they look for felonies etc...but i have some doubts as there was one case that the man who was the pettitioner was a convicted child molester---and his SO got the visa! I don't know for sure what, if anything, they look for. maybe someone else will know? I'm assuming that if your ex made up a story then you were arrested for Dom. violence. a misemeanor is just that and will not affect your pettition! 186077 Disorderly conduct to be precise for taking my kid to the park without authorization, ... I guess this is divorce tactics but anyway this is the past. For SO, I mostly worry because she works for a sub-company to the Chinese aerospace. Imagine that you work for a company that makes parts for NASA. She needs to have security clearance and we worry that this could be an issue. 186082 It could also be a problem on the Chinese goverment side. Certain govermnent employees are not eligible for marriage to foreigners. Of course, if she can get the Visa and come here before you're married that problem is solved. You have raised a legitimate concern, I'm not sure you can get answered here on CFL. 186084 At this point I am concerned about namechecks and security clearances again. I doubt you have anything to worry about for YOUR personal situation being it was not a felony. The more years we add onto our age the less perfect we realize we are, don't worry about your past since it is really not a legitimate reason to stop you from marrying your true love. On your SO's situation, with her security clearance I don't see why the Chinese government would issue her a passport if they were worried about anything on her side. If she has her passport then I would try not to accept any "speculation" of her not being able to marry a foreigner since she could leave the country at anytime with her security clearance. Good luck, have you filed for a K-1 yet? Larry
17. NVC is a fortress, we have no information on what the hold up was. Bob, you summed it up perfecty. Thanks
