1. Here is a post that might help with any questions. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13169 Larry
2. First, Carl.....thanks for the reply. I know she really cares about the huge wrongs we go through and tries her best to help us. But I know she is very busy. Phil, my Li had been on this side for many months but I started signing on here when your had just been released from NVC and it is horrible that GUZ can treat us this way. My hope is that if someone from her staff can find out what GUZ has been doing using a warehouse for 1 or maybe up to 2 months before they even ask for the box that has our lives inside which they put on hold. I hope it gets fixed very soon if someone tries to find my case from her office. That would be heaven. Larry
3. Got email Friday from NVC inquiry that NVC has sent our case to GUZ. This morning (Saturday) received final email from Maura Harty about my request to have our case get "priority status" at GUZ due to long NVC wait. Her reply: "Sir: I have been traveling in the Far East. I will have someone look int your request. Regards, MH". Actually I wasn't sure she would even reply to my final request. I guess my thought is now that if someone looks into my case in the next month it will be in limbo due to GUZ using a warehouse for a month before signing for our cases. They will see mailed from NVC and then "NOTHING". My hope is they will find out that GUZ lets them sit a lenthy period before even signing for an Express DHL package. I doubt London or any other Embassy or Consulate uses this practice. Maybe some eyes could be opened, I hope so for all of our sake. Any thoughts?? I am not sure what to think about it. Larry
4. Remember your service computation date is on it. 174685 That is the date of the total government service, not the time at your present job. I had 6 years NAVY then non government then went to the VA. I know what you are saying but it doesn't mean you have had your present job that long (maybe they will be fooled however). LES makes it look like I have worked all those years straight for the government. I would rather submit my LES. Larry
5. 174677 Everyone files tax, or should. Having a problem getting a copy? 174679 I thought the consulate wanted both proof of employment and tax returns (3 years??). Is this true? Larry
6. I work for the Department of Veterans Affairs. I got a letter from Human Resources that stated my start date to present and I forget if it had yearly salary or not. I think our LES states only how much made back to the beginning of this calendar year? No hint of how many years at your present job. I called NVC & DOS today and all are off.........did I forget a holiday? Larry
7. EXCELLENT post Frank, you hit the nail right on the head. As we hit our heads against the wall, repeat as needed. Larry
8. Yes, agreed. We are in the unfortunate position of being virtually helpless during much of the Visa process. It's important to know your advocates and use them when needed. It's just a pisser that there is even less that we can do during the untouchable "security, namecheck, background check, blah, blah, blah," is going on. However, there is a very important timestamp that occurs when involving DOS or other government officials in that they are accountable to show results. It's a sad fact that US attempts to reduce immigration by using heartbreaking and hurtful delay tactics. You are doing the right thing....Good luck... 174364 I am sorry that Maura Harty was not able to help you with your situation. I know in Phil's case he was over 9 months at NVC and mine was over 12 months. It looks like yours is 7 months if I read your timeline right. My only impression is that maybe that amount of time wasn't at the point yet of thinking it was an emergency or even falling through the cracks yet. We can only speculate at what length of time she will think she has to act. That is only my opinion. I didn't like mine at the 7 month point either. I know that all of us here at CFL think it is way too long but maybe she doesn't look at cases like we do. I hope it can work out of NVC very soon. Hang in there. Larry
9. First, thanks for the good words on Li and I leaving NVC. We have a K-1: When a K-1 leaves USCIS (CSC for us) it goes to NVC for a namecheck and then to GUZ. When a K-3 leaves USCIS it goes to GUZ directly and then a namecheck is done? I am wondering if we will have to go through another name check when our case arrives at GUZ. I don't want to have to go through another namecheck and I am not sure if we have to or not. I am not that knowledgable about the procedures in these cases. Thanks, Larry
10. CONGRATULATIONS , Fantastic news! Best of luck and I hope she can come to the U.S.A. in way less than 5 months. Good Job!! Larry
11. Here is the website for "A Safe Place" ... http://www.volunteersolutions.org/uwgs/org...48-printer.html
12. Good Idea Carl. I'll see if I can get in touch with her and get an update and an address to send some Christmas goodies to her little cherub! due to the overwhelming amount of PM's I got (None) asking for the address of 'A Safe Place' (the original topic of this thread), I thought I'd post it here. A Safe Place 6 Greenleaf Woods, suite #101 Portsmouth, NH 03801 174205 Is it a place for battered wives? I don't know anything about it. I have never been married so have no children. It would be nice to do something for the holidays. I wouldn't mind making a donation of $$ or gift. Do they have a website or anything? Larry
13. Carl's right. Larry and Li deserve special consideration and they should be allowed to bump ahead of the line. Their case has obviously been grossly mismanaged and neglected for some time. Without any delay to Larry and Li, USCIS should open an internal investigation as to cause of the delay and the mismanagement of it that followed. How many others are there? How long would the case have sit there until Larry turned the burners on their butts? 174155 I have already replied to Maura Harty's assistant who gave me the good news and worked on this case: Dear Mr. R, I just got word from A R that my case has been released back to NVC so it can be sent to the consulate at Guangzhou very soon. Thank you very much for your quick action on this case, you are very much appreciated. The second part of my letter to Ms. Maura Harty mentions perhaps giving this case "priority status" at Guangzhou due to the extensive waiting period we have endurred. I respectfully request that our case get priority at GUZ and I sincerely hope you can help with this request also. The consulate at Guangzhou will slow down pretty soon for the holidays and then again for 10 days Chinese New Year at the end of January which will slow down this case even more. Also I think it might be fairly standard to send some cases for a second name check once at the consulate. I was hoping this could also be bypassed on this case. I thank you for everything you have done and for what else you can do for my fiencee and myself, you have made us very happy. Larry case# xxxxxxxxxx
14. I don't think the waits at NVC are their fault, the cases are really at the namecheck agencies in Washington. They just sit at NVC and wait just like we do for those agencies to finish and send back the approval. Ms. Harty had no reason to go to NVC for anything, she went to the security agencies in Washington where the hold up was. I don't know if NVC is contracted or not but they really don't have much to do with the long waits. They are just the only place we can call to get any updated information, I am sure they take a lot of heat but really can't do much about anything. Or at least that is how I get the procedure anyway........... Larry
15. I just got an email from one of Maura Harty's assistants. The namechecks are completed and our case should be on its way from NVC to GUZ very soon. I don't know what else to say.......I am speechless I guess. It was Maura Harty who unlocked our case and we were at NVC for 383 days. Thanks to everyone here at CFL for the kind words and thoughts over this more than a year of waiting. Sincerely, Li and Larry
16. Congratulations Carl, it won't be long now! Good News! Larry
17. I am not from Texas and don't know what a "Pony Soldier" is..........maybe I can graduate when I get to GUZ???? HAHA
18. Unless you choose to have it mailed, but then you will be worrying about it being lost in the mail and you won't have any fingernails left to chomp on. Best to wait the two days and have it in hand I think. You pick it up at the post office near the consulate I believe. Larry
19. If there "is" a real pandemic there won't be nearly enough people around "to" listen. It won't be hard to tell at that time. Larry
20. I know that jesse is approaching 180 days.. I guess I hope you keep that record.. 173831 I pray that we keep it too...........now that we escaped CSC. Now we are going for the record at NVC I guess......... Over one year now and waiting........... Larry hahahaah, waaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh
21. Does this mean LiandLarry almost have the record at CSC???? April 15th 2004 - NOA1 Nov 19th 2004 - NOA2 Is that 217 days? Doh !!!! I would like to thank everyone at CSC who made this moment possible...... ugh
22. I think there are quite a few of us who came in after this thing happened. Is it too aweful to post the story, I read the happy ending. Very sweet. Larry
23. Carl, congratulations on Ying getting approved!!! I am chicu (sp?).......... Get ready for the rest of your life!!! Best Wishes. Larry
