  1. I sent two emails to my House Rep (CA) but the website was sending them to the Washington D.C. office. I got no reply. I finally called the local office and there was someone there to help me right away! She is looking into my case now. I wonder why an email sent to Washington D.C. is ignored and how I got help by one call to the local office and they listened. What is the point of having the email on the website go to Washington D.C...........Hmmmmmmmmmm. It is an insane setup I think. Please learn from my mistake. Call or go to local office please (of House Rep at least). Best of luck, Larry
  2. Take it easy! She can pass the interview.
  3. First..........."WELCOME TO CANDLE FOR LOVE", happy to have you here. There must have been a divorce for your first wife I assume. You are filing taxes as single? The U.S. Government has a record of her leaving the country? There are some here that have gotten a divorce and one month later got engaged or married to a Chinese national. If she is gone and you want to marry.........I don't see a problem. But I am certain there are others who went through this will reply too. Larry
  4. Ours was over 7 months back in early 2004 (CSC).............I am already up to the NVC namecheck process........THIS SUCKS !!! Someday we will see GUZ.......I just hope GUZ is wheelchair accessible. Larry
  5. I have a feeling that many might reply to this one. Two things that come to my mind are: 1) Consulate at GUZ handles almost every Visa to exit China. This makes a longer than normal wait because of the size of the country I believe. 2) Once on my many calls to NVC who sends out for namechecks the operator said........ "OH.....GUZ........they check every single person in many databases for their namechecks and GUZ always runs longer. Other countries don't check as deeply. I shouldn't worry about my ONE YEAR WAIT at NVC". The system is still under the old Communist China thinking instead of what most of us here at CFL know. Many Chinese citizens are not communist and want to have closer ties to the U.S. ways. Governments move more slowly it seems. just my thoughts and observations.............anyone else??? Larry
  6. I am not at GUZ yet but from what I heard I don't think I would subscribe to this (dis)service. I think I read here that they only update their computer once a week and the operators are not that friendly or well trained at the "new call center". New doesn't always mean inproved. Seems if you want updated information the State Department Visa Office in Washington D.C. is much more reliable and they seem to care more. (202) 663-1225 (press 1-0-0 when you get connected) Larry
  7. Ours was over 7 months at CSC with no word at all. I know it doesn't help you right now but I can't think of any way to spin this to make her/you feel better. You know we are all pulling for you and for a quick resolution to this situation. Larry
  8. The good life begins................ CONGRATULATIONS !!!!! Have a wonderful holiday season!!
  9. Congratulations Bob !!!!! Fantastic news!!!!
  10. You can tell what day they issued the GUZ# by the number itself. first 4 numbers are the year. the next 3 numbers are the "julian" date (1-365) with 500 added. the last numbers are the number for that day that yours was issued. That is the number your case will be identified at the NVC and Guangzhou City Consulate. There is NO WAY I know of to check it online. The only thing they will tell you is if it is sent to GUZ or if it is under "administrative review" (namecheck). No use trying to get anymore information than that. Operator doesn't know anything else and nobody will release any information anyway..........so they know nothing until it comes back from DC. Hope this helps. Larry
  11. Another thought, while you are waiting please notice other CFL member's timelines and their wait at NVC. That will give you a much better idea of the usual waiting time, maybe you won't be jumping for joy but you can learn not to worry now. good luck! B)
  12. When the NVC says "administrative processing (or review)" that means it has been sent to security agencies in Washington DC. NVC is in New Hampshire. Until the name checks are completed you will ONLY be told that it is still awaiting administrative processing. It won't help to ask who has it or where a holdup is, they are very VERY tight lipped on everything. NVC will hold the paper file until they get the name checks back and then forward to the consulate. Many go through NVC in a couple weeks. Some cases like mine have been at NVC (actually at the agencies in Washington) for OVER one year now. I don't mean to scare you but all you can do is wait at this time. You probably don't have anything to worry about at this point, just don't expect to get any information no matter how much you call them or who you talk to. I have a couple threads on my long wait but that isn't the normal. Good Luck with NVC and please don't worry for now. Yours, Larry p.s. here is where my case is now (at NVC) if you are interested... http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14222
  13. Hi Jessie, I haven't heard anything since Friday morning when I got her reply. I figured it would take a few days for her assistant to get to the bottom of things. Li thought It could be fixed in a day and I should have called Maura Harty yesterday, I didn't. If I had the name of the person looking into it I might call soon. I called NVC as usual yesterday and it is still there (actually out for namecheck). I asked if there had any other inquiries on my case because I know they keep a log. There had not been. I hope it is being worked on from the top down instead of NVC up. I only have the number for Ms. Harty and not of any assistant and I didn't want to stir up bad feelings after just a day or two. Your thoughts??? Larry B) p.s. I am checking my bulk email every hour or so because that is where the reply will come in.
  14. I hope this recipe is with the spicy pork rinds, if not.............can I substitute??? Larry
  15. Thank you, stacato. After 2 days, here everything in my city is going normal. People go back to work on Monday morning, Students are back to school as well. Li
  16. Hello Carl, It seems there is no problem with this. Here is a recent link on this subject. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14193 Welcome To Candle!! Larry
  17. Tom, here is the link for where your SO can get her physical exam. Prices are slightly different and you don't have to get it in Guangzhou. http://www.usembassy-china.org.cn/guangzho...edicalexam.html ALSO..... In GZ Info, pinned at the top there is some info on hotels at and near the consulate building. Here is one link. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14102 Larry
  18. Try this link, it is pretty good...........pick your subject. http://www.chinahistoryforum.com/ Larry
  19. nortrevorich, Li and I agree with YOU. It seems as if a little more detail would have been helpful. I was just happy that the day after Thanksgiving she answered my email in less than 1.5 hours. Anything for us is positive if the case is being solved. I would like to know who is working on it too. My hope is that in her level she has many good helpers. Thanks for your feelings. Larry
  20. Amy Vanderbilt says: Never spit a piece of bad food or tough gristle into your napkin. Remove the food from your mouth using the same utensil it went in with (including fingers). Place the piece of food on the edge of your plate. If possible, cover it with some other food from your plate. Larry says: Just do what is comfortable and acceptable with you and your SO. My book is available in paperback (actually scribbled on the back of a napkin). hahahaha
  21. I am Li. It is very nice that Larry got a reply from Maura Harty. Hope the case can get out of black hole very soon. This morning, about 8:45am, I felt my bed shaking, also my condo. It was a 5.5 earthquake in my city (Jiujiang). It was my first time to feel earthquake, so scary. :candle: :candle: God bless us! Li
  22. No problem. I have asked a member of my staff to look into it and respond to you directly. MH -----Original Message----- From: Larry [mailto:] Sent: Friday, November 25, 2005 10:36 AM To: hartyma@state.gov Cc: Larry Subject: Delay with K-1 visa (GUZxxxxxxxxxx) Dear Maura Harty, I am having difficulty with the K-1 Visa for my fiancee. Here is my timeline for the case: 14 April, 2004 - Applied for fiancee visa for Li Hua who lives in mainland China. 19 November, 2004 - Notice of approval (NOA) 1 from California Service Center, case sent to National Visa Center (NVC). 1 December, 2004 - Received NOA2 tracking number GUZxxxxxxxxxx from NVC My fiancee and I have sent over 30 email inquiries to NVC over the past year only to receive their standard form letter answer about 911 and security. For the past month I have called NVC once or twice a day and the case is still stuck at the security check agencies in Washington D.C.. On November 4th I was finally able to speak to a supervisor (Leyla) at the NVC and she sent an email inquiry to the security checking agencies (nobody can tell me who they are due to security). As of today Leyla's inquiry has not had any reply. I only want to bring my fiancee here to the U.S.A. so we can be together and raise our family. The security checking agencies have been holding me hostage for over one year and nobody can pay us that time back. It should have either been approved or dissaproved long before now and to just sit on this case is cruel and unusual punishment. What I would like from you is to get the case past NVC and on its way to "GUZ" the consulate at Guangdong in China with "priority" status. Everyone I have heard from on a Visa website for Chinese fiancees have passed us by 9 months. If the case just goes to GUZ it will take another 4 -5 months at least. I need priority over all others who are having interviews at this point. Our file date was 14 April 2004. If we keep on the regular track at this rate it could be over two years for a fiancee visa which is the longest by far that I have heard of. The fastest was 7 months. Average is 10 -12 months from start to finish. My fiance and I can't get this lost time back and it is a lot of time being apart instead of being together. Case information: Case Number: GUZxxxxxxxxxx Beneficiary's Name: HUA,LI Preference Category: K1 Your Priority Date: 14Apr2004 Foreign State Chargeability: CHINA - MAINLAND U.S. Embassy/Consulate: CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES, VISA UNIT 1 SHAMIAN STREET SOUTH GUANGZHOU 510133 PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Yours, Larry XXXXXXX
