  1. Tsap I'm a little late in responding, but I read every word of your story. You have been supportive of me and others. You deserve the same. I, too, have had a taste of these "Power Hungry" souls who are placed in very powerful positions. Some day, some time, they will be accountable for the "hurt" they have caused innocent people who are trying to lawfully get through this process. I truly believe that things do happen for reasons which we may not know, but will become clear to us at a later time. Good luck to you and your wife. You will be successful and you will be happy. Ron
  2. Thanks again Dennis, Eric, Nuworld, Zhen, and Todd. She got the Greencard today in the mail and was so happy she wanted me to take her to dinner - which I did. I wanted to post my timeline one more time for those who keep track of such things.
  3. Thanks again you guys. Carl, you're right about the knife twist. Chilton, what's going on with your case? tsap seui, I followed your case for a long time. Good luck to all of you waiting. Thanks Dennis. Hope to see you at the next soiree'
  4. Thank you everyone for your kind words. Yes, not having to deal with USCIS for a couple years is a good thing. They did get another $12 bucks out of me for parking. That should make them happy.
  5. After a long and hectic wait, after many twists and turns, my wife passed her green card interview today. She is very happy right now and so am I. A quick recap: some of you may remember that the first scheduled interview was over before it got started. The IO said that our translator did not speak good enough English (at least for him). He said, "this interview is over and I will reschedule it within two weeks." Well, three months later and a little help from my Congressman, Jerry Lewis, it got rescheduled for today. We got a different translator who speaks perfect English and, as luck would have it, we didn't get the same IO. This time we got a lady who was very "by the book" and thorough. I knew we would not get through without another curve ball thrown at us. She would not accept any copies of birth records, or divorce records from either of us. I had to return home and dig up the originals. She did allow me to bring them back the same day. It was a few gallons of gas and another $6 parking. But, a long story short, she accepted the documents and the green card will be mailed out in a couple weeks. A word of advice to those who are waiting: Bring "original" documents and let them make copies. Also, we were asked for pictures of the wedding. If you want to know some of the questions asked, I can post those later.
  6. Thanks again, Randy. I told Rick and he's not too happy. A reasonable person would think that they are all one family, wife, daughter, husband, step father, and why do they get hit with separate fees? But, you described it well.
  7. Thank you Randy. He tells me that, even though they filed at the same time for the two year cards, the daughter's card came eight months later. So there is about an 8 month difference. Is that too much?
  8. This is for a friend of mine who is filing the I-751 for the 10 year green card. He is filing for his wife and her daughter. They both have the two year green cards which will expire soon. He wants to know if he has to pay the $465 dollar fee, plus $80 for biometrics for each of them, or can he include them both for $465? I have not read the instructions, but he said, the way he reads it, you can include both wife and daughter on one form and pay one fee. Anyone want to tackle this? Thanks in advance. Ron (for Rick).
  9. Phil and Ning Ning - great news! Congratulations! I asked about you at our last get together. We missed seeing you guys, but we hope to catch you next time.
  10. Congratulations, Dennis and Leiqin. I'm a little late on this, but who's counting? Also, thanks for your compliment to my wife on the Contact post. Yonghua has her GC interview on 5/12. Sorry you didn't make it to our reunion today, but, if your ears were ringing, Dennis, we DID talk about you.
  11. Thanks Smitty and tsap seui Yes, it has been quite an ordeal. If you sat down to write a novel, you couldn't make this stuff up. I would like to thank my Congressman, Jerry Lewis, for, at least, attempting to help, and I think it did some good. Something got them off their feet and moving again. I mean it wasn't like this was a first appointment; this was a rescheduled appointment. I don't think my particular field office is THAT busy. Yesterday, they had 3 windows open and only a handful of people waiting. I guess I'll have to pay a translator this time. The ones I priced are about $150 for 10 minutes work.
  12. Buddy I hope this does the trick for you. This has to be very frustrating for you two. I wish you the best of luck! Thanks, Chilton I guess "frustrating" is one word I could use, but I can think of some others that would not go along with the good reputation of CFL, so I'll keep them to myself.
  13. Okay, last bump on this one. I went to Infopass today and got the rescheduled date. Coincidently, it had already been mailed out. I do think my Congressman's involvement got them moving on it. As it turns out, what was supposed to have been a two week rescheduled date, turned into three months. My wife wasn't happy. All I could tell her was that a May 12th date was better than no date. She still wasn't happy. She does not understand the Immigration service that we have all come to know and love.
  14. Still no appointment. I have made an Infopass for this coming Friday to find out what the hell is going on. I hope to get the rescheduled appointment before Friday, but it doesn't look like that will happen. My Congressman, Jerry Lewis's office sent the field office a fax, for all the good that did. Oh well, to be continued . . .
