  1. Why people from California sound like poets? 239229[/snapback] Earthquakes will make anybody poetic
  2. They should...since all USC and Perm Rez'dnts are paying their salaries
  3. Dude, Don't forget to bring: 1) proof of vaccination i.e. the Yellow Book (see http://tinyurl.com/es456) Useful for the AOS and medical coverage 2) notarized and translated university transcript and diploma/degrees 3) several passport size photos (it's cheaper to get it from China) Best wishes
  4. Dude, Just don't take it personally. They're not worth it. IMHO, if you could get the Chinese Public Security Bureau to write a notarized statement about her non-involvement in the CCP, that would seal the deal. The Folks at Guz are typical bureaucrats, so you have to overwhelm them with certificates, forms, paperwork, and more paperwork to get your case approved. It brings to mind the kitchen sink approach. PS) After my SO's interview, she sold all the "valuable" paperwork (MSN chat logs, phone card logs, etc) to a paper recycler in GUZ for 50RMB She said that paperwork was as heavy as her luggage.
  5. Folks in China don't care about dental care. I found the average Chinese just don't want to spend the money or time. So, by 30 years old or even earlier, most folks have 3-5 fillings, gum disease, crowns, etc etc. My SO at 25 has 2 crowns! She's only paying 900RMB and she's telling me it's expensive I am saving a root-canal fund for her future dental bills because I don't see my dental insurance picking up a lot of the fees.
  6. Unfortunately, this is prevalent across all levels of civil service in the state and federal govt. It's because the employees have no incentive, or initiative, or need, to be better and nicer at serving the public. They will get paid whether they are nice or not. Their supervisors don't care because their bosses (directors and above) are mostly political appointees who abuse their positions as much as they can, i.e. sneaking out during a work day for golf, fishing, and 3 hour lunches, etc etc
  7. A 3 year old will put *anything* into his mouth. If you can afford it, rent a new place. The risk is not worth it.
  8. Employment Authorization Document (EAD) is required.
  9. My goodness, this con is as old as time. It was originally termed the Spanish Prisoner con: http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/nigeria.asp

  11. In my case, I'm trying to recruit my mom or my aunt to be the nanny for one month If that fails, then, I'm taking one month paternity leave as stated in the Family Leave Act for all US employers.
  12. Go to: http://boards.immigrationportal.com/ Very detailed and informative and best of all, it's FREE Best strategy is to get her over as a student (F-1). Studying English for example. ESL courses are cheap. Shortest time, easiest paperwork.
  13. If the Permanent Resident wishes to remain outside US and it's territories for longer than 2 years, apply for a I-131 Re-Entry Permit before you leave.
  14. Amen, and have a wonderful time together
