  1. Awesome¡ hopes are high and we will go tomorrow morning¡ we feel a lot better reading these posts¡ thank you so much¡ nice wake up call, so I¡¯ll be more diligent with the AOS interview¡
  2. Hello everyone¡ big mistake on my part! The biometrics appointment for my SO was yesterday (02/20) and I have it down in my appointment book as tomorrow (02/22)¡ It¡¯s currently 8pm, 02/21 in California, so I can¡¯t call anyone¡ Are we screwed? Because it says in big bold letters, miss this appointment and it will be considered abandoned. Until tomorrow when I can call, I sure would like to read some feedback to our situation¡ Thanks
  3. Does anyone have any information regarding the ¡°advanced parole¡± process? My SO is in the states now, we¡¯ve gotten married and we¡¯re preparing the AOS paperwork. Along with this, we are submitting the I-131 Advanced Parole form. If and when she gets approval on the I-131, • How many times can she leave the US and return? • Does she have to return to China or can she travel to another country? It¡¯s all about the honeymoon. We¡¯d like to go to Singapore for a week and then return to China. And then come back to America. Will the I-131 satisfy this?
  4. Yes, all 7 White Books have an accompaning English translation.
  5. Hello everyone.. I know I don’t update as much as I should, but this whole process is a complete drain on the soul ! ! ! ! Anyway… I’m here in Chengdu helping my SO prepare her documents for the interview and wanted to give some details about the Chengdu Notary. First thing, my SO received the P4 on July 3rd and the interview date is August 24th. We went to the Notary in Chengdu on July 3rd and spoke to an older man… he reviewed all the documents (Police, Birth, Non-Married, House Book, Passport, etc)… after about 20 minutes of him scolding my SO about the Non-Married Cert being 5 months old and the Police Cert being 2 months old, he told her that she go to her home town for the notary services. It wasn’t looking good… after my SO and I discussed the old man’s point of view it was looking like it was time for some big time GuangXi… I asked her to tell the old man that many American’s felt the Chengdu Notary Office was the best in all of Sichuan and that we made this trip to Chengdu to only to come to see him and Chengdu office because of this… and that his advice was greatly appreciated and that any help you could provide us would be deeply thanked…. It was like a light switch was turned on! He told my SO to return home and get the revised Non-Marriage Cert and to return and he would personally help us. So that’s what we did… two days later we returned with the revised cert… no need to revise the Police Cert as it fell within the time limit to her interview… after he reviewed the certs and offer us tea and a news paper, he collected the all the information and money… this was on Thursday afternoon and he said return Friday morning to pickup the White Books! WOW… this was fast! We have the White Books in hand and are extremely happy now that this portion of the process is complete. I just love Chinese GuangXi =) Here’s some pricing that we paid for our Notary services in Chengdu. 2 copies of the Police Cert 2 copies of the Non-Marriage Cert 3 copies of the Birth Cert all for 720 RMB I was expecting the “white book” to be just that, but it was a bounded, bonded set of documents that appears in looks to be a US finical report or something you’d see from a collage essay… Also, if you need photos, two doors down from the Notary office is a Fuji photo shop where they are well versed in these photos… we bought 10 standard Chinese passport photos (for the Notary) and 6 standard US passport photos (for Guangzhou) all for 42 RMB. The next step for us is to go through the P4 and fill it out… and of course make copies… What we received in the P4 was - Appointment Letter - K1 Appointment Packet NO16 o Med Exam Instructions w/ locations o Family Composition Sheet o Cert of Legal Capacity and Intent to Marry o Supplemental GNI-2 Form o Letter to K1/K2 Applicant (appears to be a checklist) - DS-156 form (2 copies in English & 2 copies in Chinese) - DS-157 form (2 copies in English & 2 copies in Chinese) - DS-156K - VISA photo instructions - DS-3026 (med history & phys exam) - DS-2053 (med exam application) - DS-3024 (chest x-ray) - DS-3025 (vaccination documentation worksheet) DAMN ! ! ! ! ! It sure seems straight forward from here (fingers crossed)… The only thing at this point I have a question on is the vaccination worksheet… the checklist states it is not required, yet they provide one… why? Not sure if any of this stuff help anyone, but I thought I would try to contribute to the cause =)
  6. But are these plain white paper originals good? They almost look like someone just pulled out a piece of scratch paper and wrote something on them In America, offical documents look like "offical" documents...
  7. Hello everyone! I’m in Chengdu with my darling =) Two questions. 1) My SO has compiled all the documents for her K1; police cert, birth cert, non-marriage, etc… The ALL documents are on plain white paper with translucent red lines, with blank ink hand written Chinese characters saying the necessary information (such as, He Min, a girl born to Father Name & Mother Name, born on this day has never been married and is free to marry today, or something like that) and have the red Chinese seal of the office it was written. Are these documents OK? I’d hate to spend a bunch of money on the English translation only to have the original documents not compliant to the Guangzhou Consulate. 2) I called the famed VISA Information Center last week. They confirmed that the P4 packet was sent out June 26 (along with so many others), but they couldn’t confirm the address it was sent to. The P3 was sent to my SO’s Shanghai address, lucky there was someone there she knew. But today, the Shanghai apartment is void of anyone she knows and we believe the P4 packet was sent there. Even after writing the new address on the P3. Do we need the P4? What is in the P4? How can we get another P4? Any advice or wisdom would be greatly appreciated… tomorrow is Monday and we were hoping to get the English translations tomorrow… I’m hoping our interview date is in line with everyone else… late August =) Thanks again in advance =)
  8. Very well said... No advice, but how about my opinion? I too thought about selling and moving, but the best future is staying in America building your financial freedom for possibly retiring in China. My SO was the one whom advised me to stay and prepare for our future, even though she starts crying after a few weeks of not seeing me. A few months of separation is a great trade off to a lifetime of companionship, especially with some money. I also agree with going to China every couple of months, even without pay. I’ve done it and I continue to do it. Not just because of my sweetheart, or that I used to live there, but also because I like China.
  9. Hello everyone! Our application was one of those stuck in the January black hole… but I received an e-mail yesterday from GUZ, stating that the NVC paperwork was entered and the P-3 was sent out to my SO… can I get a “hell yeah”? ! ! ! ! My question stems from an the amount of e-mails, telephones calls and a letter a wrote to my congressman… Can too much be a pitfall and/or red flag? I had another question. I did some searching on the site, but really wasn’t clear on a change of address… My SO moved back home (Sichuan) from Shanghai to take care of her mother… the address where the P-3 was delivered to was her old address in Shanghai, which just so happens to be where her friend lives now… can I get an “amen”? ! ! Should she just let laying dogs lay or should she attempt to change the address? Thanks to all ! ! !
  10. WOW ! ! ! So many others in my neck of the woods... I know it sounds bad, but thank goodness I'm not the only one It makes me feel better that I can share this most awful moment with others.. Thank you to all... Our case was sent 01/24/06 and still no P3... I wrote a post asking when is the right time to freak out... I thought I was alone in this, but it appears that there are several cases from January being held up... This could be a good question for GUZ to answer? Just a thought... an FYI... or what ever... I paid 2k for a lawyer to file my K1... he and his staff have been great up until this point... when the s*** hits the fan and information is hard to come by, his arms go up and say "I don't know what to tell you"... I get a great sense of security using a lawyer, but when it come to information gathering, its this website! A matter a fact, I told him that he should visit this place once in a while to better serve his clients... Would I use a lawyer again? Most likely...
  11. At what point in this time line (NVC to GUZ) would it appear that there may be a problem? 150 days? 200? 300? I don't mind waiting, if I only knew where the paperwork was I've long passed Cheetoes... I'm looking for that bottle of 4 yuan Bai Jiu from Beijing
  12. Hello everyone! I’ve been searching this website and doing some reading on the transit points from the NVC to GUZ via DHL. Some great information and great search tools! So… The NVC (Lisa) confirms that our application was shipped out on or just after 01/23/2006. I try the search tool at DHL, but only shipments that were made after 02/08/2006 were pulled. So I went through about 10 pages and the information. According to the search parameter of “I-730”, anything shipping to GUZ after 02/08/2006 to 02/28/2006 was delivered and stamped. As soon as 02/24/2006 and up to 04/13/2006. I telephoned the pay-per-call number in SHA and gave all the information on our case. No record found ! ! ! E-mailed GUZ – no record found Called and e-mailed the NVC – We shipped it to GUZ, no more information So… when should I start freaking out??? Based on the averages I’ve seen, it would appear that we are passing the latter end of the scope on the averages… or do I have it all wrong? Thanks in advance for your insight and time =)
  13. a real simple question... when my so comes to america, what how long and/or what does she need to return to china for a visit? thx to all for this wonderful website!
  14. Is there a service or company in China that helps the SO’s compile, collect and provide general information on K1/K3 Visa’s?
  15. This is good information! By chance, do you have the Chinese translation (character form) of these documents and places where to obtain them? =)
