  1. You've unlocked the secret of the American Chinese resturant. While you eat your "Chicken Chow Mien" you look over and see a Chinese family have a great meal that doesn't appear on the menu. If you are a regular, ask and you may receive.
  2. Looks like you may be in for a long security check. You screwed up big time.
  3. I've used CTRIP as a planner for all of my trips. Just book you hotels from someone else.
  4. Cool......... Start planning you next trip. Have fun while you wait.
  5. My NOA1 has: Rec 03/31 and notice of 04/01 Envelope is postmarked 04/02 My NOA2 Has: Rec 03/31 and notice 08/12 One thing I noticed on NOA2 is the Beneficiary has an "A" number.
  6. I briefly dicussed this with a Singapore Agent and they are familiar with the process. They said I could go to the office in SF and make the booking with a copy of my SO's passport. My SO could pick up her ticket at the Singapore office in GZ. I haven't checked with Cathy Pacific yet, another option. Since my SO lives in GZ I think we may spend a few days in HK before heading back to SFO. May want to "live it up" and get a harbor view hotel room and enjoy a special time in HK. I think her trip to the US should be a special one.
  7. Sounds like you cleared the CSC Mailroom on the 17th. NOA2 is the important one. Texas must be overloaded with Mexicans.
  8. This is what I received from my GZ email i sent yesterday: Dear Mr. X, Thank you for your email. Ms. XXX's case is in processing, due to the high volume of applications, we will schedule her interview in two months, we will notify you when it is ready, please wait for our notice. This was Dated July 7 and seems to be in tune with Timeline's estimates.
  9. From the K1 Faqs om the GZ site. We decided to get married before my K-1 petition could be processed. What should I do? If you get married, your K-1 petition will no longer be valid. Your spouse will need to file a different petition, Form I-130, with the CIS.
  10. Just an FYI for those who Fly Singapore Air, they do have an office in GZ and the paper tick can be picked up there. (HK to SFO, my favorite)
  11. I thought about easing her into the work force (like part time) to get her use to work in the US. Will also have to be prepared for failures too.
  12. Makes me want to send an email off to GZ to inquire about our interview. It's been two weeks since my last inquirey.
  13. Something for the older generation May be a bit out of date but you both can check out "The Flower Drum Song".
  14. Take a drive up to Sonora Pass or Yosemite.
  15. Your are in the "Black Hole". Send them email once a week.
  16. Try Here: http://www.khmerkromrecipes.com./ It is Cambodian however you can take the base recipe and change the sauce and spices to suit many regions. If you want to cook Asian you need to learn the basics. Cutting Seasons Cooking Sauce Once you get a few base recipes down the going is easy. A curried beef or chicken dish is a good start. For a low cost wok stove check here: http://www.outdoorstirfry.com/products.htm For a resturant quality wok check here: https://www.acemart.com/merchant.mv I also use pie pans to move food from the cutting board to the wok. They make stirfry a snap and allow you to keep your dish in balance. Also, one tip on keeping you vedgetables fresh is to put them in a pot or bucket of water and not the the fridge. You want to keep them "alive" and enhance the flavor. Happy Cooking
  17. You might want to consider Vegas; they have a drive thru.
  18. You have entered the infamous "Black Hole". Could be a short ride or a long one. This step doesn't have much of an average. Give it a month or two then inquire about you case via email.
  19. Here's a site that is good for sharing pics and travel experiences. It's free and easy to use. http://www.virtualtourist.com/
  20. Sounds good. We also got a P4 instead of the P3; time lost that won't be recovered. At least travel will be better in September.
  21. Good Job... I will have to go over the "hobby" question when we have our weekly phone call; she may night know what the word means. She used to say "I don't know" when she didn't understand my English (American). I don't think that would go over well with a VO. Now she knows to say "Please repeat", "Please speak slowly" ect.
  22. There have been a few threads in the Culture & Language section.
