  1. If an artist sign their art it is copyrighted by American law. It does not have to copyrighted on paper, American courts will side with the artist that sign the art. you can buy the rights from the artist or draw your own. When I sell my art I sell the art not the rights, if I sell the rights I must sign and have it notarize that I have turn over the rights. The problem is I doubt very much you will find the artist. More than likely it been copy from others, in Asian copying a master art is a learning lesson doing it over and over until they after many years can change it as a master. looking at it the art It is very simple and look like something someone does over and over to sell to tourist. I doubt you have any problem using it, it would not be hard to draw for yourself. and doubtfully anyone would come looking for you.
  2. I have a large life insurance on me and anytime I try to tell her about it she will change the subject or tell me not to talk about death. One day she even turn off her computer but before she did she said "If I want to talk about life and living plz call, if not go to bed!" So i stop talking about it. But it there when the time comes.
  3. How do you go about putting your spouse on your checking or saving account when they not have a Visa or SSN. One of the prove they ask for to show being married on the I-130 is a joint account with a bank. Last I remember most banks will not put someone on your account unless they with you in their bank. It also be more easier on me if she was on the bank account. Only found one bank that in viet nam and america at the moment and that is citibank, I'm considering to open a account there this july in hanoi with my Thoa. I not sure if fileing a IRS form w-7 for a tax number would work. kind of at lost here figure David might have some idea or anyone else. Robert and Thoa
  4. U.S. Asian Immigrants at Lower Mental Health Risk thanks david, hate to get a ticket from the thought police
  5. Grilled cheese sandwiche with tomato soup or fried baloney sandwiche macaroni and cheese macaroni and cheese with ground hamburger or tuna I survive many a nights on the above and the look of my SO when she see me eat a grilled cheese can only mean it not good for my body. my body love and craves cheese and bread BLT!!!!! but the concept of what we american call the sandwiche just seem to travel over my SO head why would someone put cheese between two breads? and slice bread? that a puzzlement i get from most when I'm in viet nam. cheese is hard enough to find. Then the omelet it took me 2 days before I broke down and taught the hotel kicten staff that fried eggs or scramble eggs is not a omelet make, if you teaching someone to cook in their kicten it always best to pay for ingredents they respond much better. also make sure that there not a ban impose on eggs and chickens during an asian flu scare too. I'm almost afraid to explain the food that most american live on when surviving the world for the first time and that is the macaroni and cheese. I fear the day of opening a box and adding hamburger to the mix or tuna and eatting out of the pan is going to become to a end, cheese the other food
  6. THURSDAY, Nov. 30 (HealthDay News) -- Asian immigrants in the United States have lower rates of mental health problems than people, including those of Asian descent, who were born in the country, a new study finds. ADVERTISEMENT For example, the study found that American-born women are twice as likely to have a depressive disorder as Asian-born women living in the United States. The researchers interviewed nearly 2,100 native-born or immigrant Asian Americans, 18 and older, about their history of a number of mental health problems: depression, anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, substance and alcohol abuse, and post traumatic stress disorder. "Roughly 48 percent of Americans will have some kind of lifetime disorder. In our study, less than one in four Asian-American immigrants will have a disorder. However, that won't necessarily be the case for their children and grandchildren. If trends continue, rates for them will go up, and that suggests that more investment is needed for prevention programs," study lead author David Takeuchi, a sociologist and social work professor at the University of Washington, said in a prepared statement. Other findings from the study: There were no significant differences among the main Asian immigrant groups in the United States -- Chinese, Filipinos and Vietnamese. Among Asian men, those born elsewhere are less likely to have a substance abuse problem than those born in the United States. Asian immigrants who arrived in the United States as elementary school-age children have an easier time learning English than older children but are more likely to develop a substance abuse problem. Takeuchi said this study raised issues that warrant further investigation. For example, he'd like to compare the mental health circumstances of immigrants who voluntarily migrate and those who are refugees. "Someone who is a voluntary immigrant doesn't typically suffer the severe trauma that a refugee who is fleeing persecution or war does," Takeuchi said. He also wants to investigate how discrimination impacts the mental health of Asian Americans

  11. BOSTON - In an effort to make the citizenship exam more meaningful, the federal government said Monday it will test an exam that relies less on trivia ¡ª such as asking the name of the president's house ¡ª and more on applicants' grasp of American democracy. The new exam will be given to volunteers beginning this winter in Albany, N.Y.; Boston; Charleston, S.C.; Denver; El Paso, Texas; Kansas City, Mo.; Miami; San Antonio; Tucson, Ariz.; and Yakima, Wash. The current test is heavy on historical facts, and includes questions about the colors of the U.S. flag and the name of the form used to apply for citizenship. The new exam will ask about the Bill of Rights and the meaning of democracy. "The idea is not to toss up roadblocks, it's to make sure people who apply for citizenship and want to become citizens understand and adhere to the values we have as a society, the values that are part of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights," said Shawn Saucier, spokesman for the Office of Citizenship and Immigration Services. The current exam doesn't guarantee knowledge of those values, Saucier said. A person may know which state was the 49th to be added to the union, for example, but not understand voting rights, he said. The portion of the citizenship exam used to test basic English reading and writing skills also will be changed to include civic vocabulary words, Saucier said. "We want them to study and look at this information not toward the eye of memorizing it for a trivia exam," he said. During the pilot, officials hope to work out any problems with the test and refine the exam. The revised test will be given to all applicants for naturalization beginning in 2008. Officials will test 125 new questions on 5,000 people and eventually narrow the group of questions to 100, the same number that can be asked on the current exam. To pass, immigrants must correctly answer six of 10 questions given. If they fail, they will be given the option of taking the old test. The changes could make the exam more difficult for some people, said America Calderon, the program manager at the Central Resource Center, a Washington, D.C., organization that offers citizenship and other programs to Latino immigrants. She guessed it also could push more people into formal classes, instead of trying to learn the information on their own. "It's more difficult because the typical immigrant is trying to struggle with English and trying to learn the 100 questions right now," Calderon said. But she supports the idea, because it could push new citizens to participate in their government, a goal of her organization. "In a way, it's good they have a path to civic participation," she said. All U.S. citizens ¡ª not just new ones ¡ª could brush up on their civic knowledge, said Roger Clegg, president of the Center for Equal Opportunity, a conservative think tank that supports the assimilation of immigrants. "It's also good for the people who are already here, because there will be fewer problems and fewer friction if we all understand what America is all about," he said.
