Due to technical difficulties, our time line is now in line with yours. I am confident that my SO will pass her interview since our history goes back to 1998 and we have 8 trips and regular communication under our belt. I will not be present for the interview. Our name check took long because my SO's name in Mandarin translates to many common names, many "hits". I did have to refuse to bring a large plastic bag of tea from China as it looked like pot, buds and all.

The Officer instructs you to go to the line for US citizens and your SO to the line for Immigrants. As you watch your SO from a distance you see the Officer rip her papers to shreds and another Officer putting her in handcuffs saying she is being deported. Interesting about the name. Pinyin Spellings: My SO is Cantonese but her docs have her name in Mandarin and I much prefer the Cantonese version. Glad to know there is a way to overcome this.

Given the time line of your total relationship and single visit, it looks as if they are being cautious. The request for more financial information is just a tool and they are trying to flush out an illegal visa attempt; drugs, prostitution etc. Things should be fine if your comply with the request in an expeditious manner. I've sent Photo CDs & Vacation DVDs throught express mail with no problem. My advice would be to make a copy of the original and send the copy.

My SO says the Chinese toilets are more sanitary then western ones. When in the hotel she will always wash the seat. My concept is that since she is a "city girl" and has never been camping; she will not have a problem when I take her to the high country for a weekend.
