  1. That's the way we see it. But we'll have to see how this plays out.
  2. My wife had her friend in NYC send her a drivers manual from NY that was in Chinese. And she took the practice tests on the DMV website over and over. She showed her Chinese DL when we went to get the LP, and they did not want to give her the LP. Later after 2 tries, she passed the test and got the DL.
  3. Yes we all have had our SOs run into the "Experts" in China. My wife still has run in's with some on different issues, so I think there are experts over there on just about every subject known to man.
  4. The good old US established a law reguarding passports for children. The law states: AS DIRECTED BY PUBLIC LAW 106¨C113 AND 22 CFR 51.28: To submit an application for a child under age 16 both parents or the child¡¯s legal guardian(s) must appear and present the following: • Evidence of the child¡¯s U.S. citizenship, • Evidence of the child¡¯s relationship to parents/guardian(s), AND • Parental/guardian identification. IF ONLY ONE PARENT APPEARS YOU MUST ALSO SUBMIT ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: • Second parent¡¯s notarized written statement consenting to passport issuance for the child, • Primary evidence of sole authority to apply, OR • A written statement (made under penalty of perjury) explaining the second parent¡¯s unavailability. The law was written to keep one parent from skipping out of the country with the children with out the other parent knowing about it. Well my kids blood father is in China, the kids are here, I have the paper from him allowing them to come to America to live with us, and the law may stand in the way of them getting their passports because we do not have a sworn paper from him saying that it is OK for them to get an American passport.
  5. And some lady at the passport office in the post office, tried to tell me that just because mama was a citizen, the kids weren't automatically citizens. I told her in my most polite way, that they most certainly were citizens.
  6. The Naturalization ceremony was today, and now with the certificate in hand, I wonder if it is truely finished. Is the long climb up the mountain complete? We reached the peak and there is no band playing, no croud cheering. Just the knowledge that we have completed the hard path. The path was not smooth. It was filled with bumps and pitfalls. But we stayed the course and have reached the summit. We thank you all here for listening to me cry each time we hit a bump. Your sound wisdom and support got us through to this end. For that we are eternally thankful. We will stay on the sidelines and continue to throw our assistance to any who will need it on the Candle. Tomorrow, we apply for three new AMERICAN PASSPORTS. It sounds so nice to finally say that. Thanks Again.
  7. Hi amerchin, I'm confused that you filed for I-751 around 6 months before the 2-yr expiration. I thought earlier than 3 months isn't allowed? @_@ His AOS was in November '06 and GC received in December '06. Worst case, he filed the I-751 one month before the 90 day period expired.
  8. A divorce has to be registered in the city where the marriage took place??? Never knew that one, and I have been divorced 3 times. Always just let the lawyer take care of the business. They will know what to do.
  9. Give the name of the person and the place you sent the file, and the date as best as you can remember. If you do not have the A#, then state so on attached sheets.
  10. Take a look at our timeline. It is a little dated, but should give you an idea of the time.
  11. Your class of admission can be found on the visa that you presented at the time of your arrival.
  12. Randy is right. If you want to file for both, both need to be within the 90 days.
  13. You should spend less time in the law books and more time preparing. You can quote 'your' finds in the law books until your blue in the face, and GUZ will not even bat an eye. Suck it up, notch up your belt one more notch. Get yourself ready. Touting these laws will not change anything. I have been there, TWICE. I was angry too. But I turned and prepared for the next go around. You are or have wasted valuable time.
  14. Xiao kept her name. Her test/interview was in the morning. I guess because of the holiday they don't do it that quickly. Her GF in Virginia Beach had her ceremony 3 weeks later. Oh well, it is next week. We have waited this long, we can wait longer.
  15. Mike and Lisa, That is great news. CONGRATS again. My wife doesn't go until next week for the ceremony. Yours is very quick.
  16. When we send money, we always use Western Union. It is cheaper and have never had a problem. I tried the bank transfer early in the relationship, and that failed. Don't know about xoom.
  17. Very good news. Don't know much about you, but I can share the relief. My wife has her ceremony on Jan. 22. CONGRATS!!!!

OK let's just say that they let it slip, and you caught it. What can you do about it? You can write a letter or email to the consulate that will handle the case, and let them know the specifics. When the case comes before them, they can look into it harder. Will they? That is up to them. Will they pay any attention to your letter or email? Maybe, maybe not. Just give them specifics, not hear say, that is all you can do.
  19. You don't have to apply for citizenship. Just need to renew the green card every 10 years. My father's wife has been doing that for years. Never applied for citizenship. I understand she has been in the US for about 50 years.
  20. You should buy the RT ticket. Wait until your wife gets her visa then buy hers. Make sure that you have plenty of time from the interview until the flight. Consider that you will need to go back to her home city to repack for the trip to the US, if she gets the visa.
  21. When my wife had her first visa interview back in March of '05, I was so sure that she would pass that I was ready to buy her plane ticket. The lady at Northwest airlines talked me out of it, and I am thankful. My wife did not get her visa, and when she finally got it, it was 4 months later. It is a tough decision, but I would not buy a ticket before you have the visa.
  22. If they go this summer, they will not return until August. I think that they will not have any problems with this.
  23. This what my wife had to read, write and the questions she had to answer.
