  1. Based on your timeline you can file the I-751 as early as March. So, start preparing now. This will give you time to have her name added to untility bills and others and get your paperwork ready. That way when the 90 days prior to the 2 year anniversary date hits, you are ready to go to the post office. I had my wife added to the water bill, phone bill and electric bill. Also called and had her added to 2 credit cards. She was already on the car insurance and the bank statements. When the 90 day before date hit, I had 3-4 months of papers ready to send.
  2. I thought about taking her out for a night on the town, but then decided against it. She still had laundry to do and had to cook for the kids. Maybe I'll let her celebrate after she gets her certificate. Just so happens that the ceremony is the Thursday before the Chinese New Year. Maybe I'll take the family to New York City for the New Year.
  3. That is some very, very good news. Congratulations!!!!!
  4. We arrived for the interview at 10:45, appointment was for 11am. They called her at 10:55 for the testing phase. She came back out at 11, passed. Now we wait for the interview. They call her again at 11:15 and she returns at 11:35. The wanted current bills, I only put in stuff for the house with the address and both names. Well, the end result????????? She Passed !!!!!!! First looked at her DL and GC. Then asked what test she wanted, new or old. Then had to read "He knows how to ride a bike." Then had to write, "She cooks for her friends." Then asked these questions: 1) What do the stars on the flag mean? 2) What do we celebrate on the 4th of July? 3) Who was the first president of the United States? 4) Who is the Vice President today? 5) What is the legislative branch of our government? 6) How many Senators are there in Congress? 7) Whose rights are guarenteed by the Constitution and Bill of Rights? 8) In what month do we vote for the President? 9) In what month is the new President inaugurated? 10) What is the most important right granted to United States citizens? In the interview: Had to swear to tell the truth. Asked name and how many times we both had been married. Asked about the 4 trips my wife has taken to China since she entered the US. How long has been married and where married. Then asked all the questions in Part 10 of the N-400. Then signed the N-400 and all was done. Ceremony is January 22. We can finally take a deep breath.
  5. When she passes I will gladly accept the slap. But I think she will want to eat lunch first. Her favorite Chinese buffet is just down the street.
  6. Well, tomorrow is the day. 11am interview. Today will be all the final preps and quizzing. And we will be doing the final review of the documents that we need to take. I gave her last night off. Let her read her beauty magazines.
  7. Yes your wife can travel outside the country after getting her permanent residence card. How long? This comes from the USCIS website: My wife and kids were in China the whole summer this year (82 days). And since becoming CR-1 has made 4 or 5 trips back to China.
  8. When our son's was denied, we had to gather the documents then call and have them set up a appointment to present the overcome documents.
  9. True. No SSN required, but do get it notarized.
  10. So a quick question. How did you all package the documents that are to be taken into the interview? Jailed? She'll more than likely give me a very large swift kick to you know where.
  11. I am telling her not to be nervous. She says it is easy for me to say, I am not going into the interview. Then I remind her that she knows the answers to the questions in the book, and can read all the sample sentences. She also can write the sample sentences with only a few problems. Maybe I should give her some distractions to calm her nerves. Something like .... scrubbing the kitchen floor. Joke. I am telling her to take breaks and call her family and talk.
  12. Well 8 days to go. We have been going over the reading, writing, and questions everyday. Today or tomorrow, we start hitting it real hard. Usually we just do one or the other each night. Now we are going to start doing a little of each every night. Nervous? Yes, I can see it. She is saying only a little nervous, but I think it is more and growing. Hey, just 8 more days.
  13. We filed a I-130 for my wifes son. It's in our time line.
  14. You do need to submit an additional $80 for the biometrics.
  15. You file the I-751 which requires $465 and $80 for biometrics. Like the others said, you must file this within the 90 days prior to 2 year anniversary becoming CR-1.
  16. FANTASTIC News! Hope to post the same news in 3 weeks.
  17. Congrats to your wife and you. Hope to have a similar post in a month.
  18. Good luck. Your appointment is 6 days in front of ours. My wife is nervous. Have been going over the questions and having her write some simple statements for practice. Going to go through a lot of paper (practicing) before the interview date.
  19. Yes the end is near. We have the copies of the tax returns, and we file ours electronically. We make copies when I send them, and we sign them and date them just like we were sending them in. We are also sending in copies of some of the paperwork that we sent in with the N-400, like the papers on the house, car insurance and medical insurance. Anything that will help prove relationship and common domicile, although I have heard that the interviewer rarely looks at the papers that are brought into the interview.
  20. The I-864 does not need to be notarized. And the employer's letter should be sufficient to show employment. I would not worry about the W-2 information different from your current employment.
  21. and You will be proceeding to join your spouse whose work abroad under orders of the qualifying employer will continue for at least 1 year after the date you will be naturalized. Form N-400 should be filed prior to departing. Other than that, that is the way I read it too.
  22. It is a paper they added to the interview letter. It is called the "Naturalization Interview Document Check List". It basically tells you everything you need to bring with you to the interview. Some of the things listed were in the original bunch of paper work sent in with the N-400. It was also mentioned in the post titled "Tax transcripts, IRS says they no longer issue a 1722 letter" in this same section.
  23. The second bullet under the same item is the marriage certificate. What is confusing, is the way it is stated. "Proof of marital union as well as proof of residence". Only one statement not 2. I am leaning toward house papers with both names, but want to be sure.
  24. Going over my wife's N-659 document check list, under item #3, the 5th bullet, is "Proof of marital union as well as proof of residence". What exactly are they asking for here? Papers on the house?or what? Mike
  25. Good Luck. Let us know how it goes, our date is December 8.
