  1. Send pics, emails, chat historys, phone records, copies of letters, anything that shows that you have a relationship. You can even send copies of the pages from your passport showing your trips to China.
  2. We use ECALLNET. Great service and price 2 cents per minute. Plus the phone record for later use and can recharge online.
  3. Mike, Very happy to hear the great news. You will have the new card in about a week. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike and Xiao
  4. 5 years of permanent residency. That started with the date on the green card.
  5. What Lee said is it. 3 years if still married to the USC. 5 years if not.
  6. You can check my timeline for an idea. It will probably be accepted by the consulate sometime in February. Ours was sent to GUZ on 11-5-04, name check complete and interview set on 2-8-05 with an interview on 3-11-05.
  7. If I remember right, when our case left the NVC it took 7 days for it to arrive in customs hold in GUZ. It sat there for about a month and a half. About another month and a half we had our interview date.
  8. You will need to provide the evidence, just like earlier in the K-1 process. Now you are providing continuing evidence that the relationship is still valid and was not to just provide a means for her to get to the US. BS? YES. BUT..........
  9. My wife would never let me say "yes dear" to her. Especially since I hit three with the car last year. I normally don't say anything to her, just do what I am told.
  10. Robert, Check our timeline, it will give you an idea how long it takes. If your wife took your name when you married, then that is the "family name". You put her maiden name where it asks for other names used. Mike
  11. Good news. My wife studied for 2 months, taking practice exams. Then took 3 tries to pass the written test. The driving test was a snap.
  12. Yes it is a piece of cake. What kind of GPS did you get? I bought a Garmin 330 that will speak Chinese to my wife. Now she is fearless.
  13. Some pretty darn good news. Fantastic!
  14. I can attest to the statement of "never giving up hope". We received two blue slips, one for my wife and one for her son a year later. We overcame both and both are now here with me ( our daughter too). It can be very frustrating, and at times discouraging. But you need to stand in there, and lean on your CFL family. That's what we are here for.
  15. Well I am glad that they changed the ACH from what it was when I went. I went in March of '05. It was a big waste of my time. And since my wife was just given a blue slip and told that they needed more time, it didn't help my attitude one bit.
  16. Maybe things have changed at the ACH. When I went, some of the information may have helped some people, to me it did nothing. I have heard of rumors that being there may be noted by the VO and help your case. But I have heard of the VO changing their minds and giving the visa. Like I said things may have changed. In my visit they would only answer general questions, and no questions about any specific case. Mike
  17. We did our biometrics about the same time that you appied for AOS. We just got our GCs today. Mike
  18. tsap, Your story sounds very familiar. Ours was the same. We were so prepared, and then got the blue slip. The reason, we need more time. Hell, they invited us to the interview, we just didn't show up. Three months later, she got a letter inviting her back. The letter even told which weeks she could come. She picked the week after the week of the 4th of July, and guess what? They were closed. The next week, they got the visa. Mike
  19. When you go to the ACH, they will not give you any information pertaining to your case. They will answer general questions with general answers. I went after my wife got her blue slip stating that they needed more time. At the ACH all they would tell me was "if we have not contacted her in the next 6 months, send us an email".
  20. Merry Christmas. The new Green Cards arrived today.
  21. This sounds very much like my wife's interview for her visa in March of '05. "Everything is in order" was the comments from the VO. What did we get? The blue slip with an attached yellow paper that said they needed more time. I tore off to the ACH and asked what that meant. "We need more time to process the papers". So I asked the obvious question. "If you needed more time, why did you invite us here for the interview in the first place?" "We don't just live around the corner". I was then told that I had asked my one question. Three months later, after the great GUZ called my wife in her home asking for her 'X', did they invite her back and gave her the visa. Mike
  22. There are other problems/issues if you start to change her name to be in line with the western custom. Her passport is in her maiden name, but you have her SS card in her maiden name. Hard then to get drivers license. I know some who had to have his wife have his name, and have had many problems after that. We opted to keep her name as it is, and have not had any problems. The IRS has never questioned the name.
