  1. Good luck to both of you. I am sure that the ladies will not have any problems. Dave
  2. Congratulations NY-Viking and good luck to you and your future wife. Dave
  3. When I went to the citzens's hour in Sept it was on Thursday, and now it is on Friday. But there were many foreigners at teh meeting. I would say about 60 or 70 % were nationalized citzens. There is one line for peopel picking up the visas and another for people going to the information hour. Dave
  4. Good luck to everyone who has their interview this week. I hope that only white slips come out of GZ. Dave
  5. I will add my 2 yuan worth. My fiancee lives in ShenZhen so I went across the border a few times. The lsast time we caught a bus (realy a van), that we loaded my luggage on. There were a total of 7 on the bus. It took us through the check points and straight to the airport. Probably a little more than a regular bus, but the convience was worth it, because we never got out of the bus. I know the hotels in ShenZhen are cheaper than the hotels in HK. Just something to consider. Dave
  6. In the US, I would never try to put anything valuable in your check-in luggage. My Mom flew to my brother's home in VA and she had jewelry taken out of her luggage. The airline seems tothink it is nt there problem and will not reimburse her for the amount not covered by her insurance. I know if her bags had been locked they never would have stolen the jewelry.I also tell her to carry anything of value with her carry-on luggage. I never had any problems flying into HongKong for both my trips to China. Dave
  7. Larry: The notarial for the divorce certificate should have an unlimited peiod of validity. But your fiancee will probably have to do a notarized single certificate, that states she is available to marry you. Dave
  8. MRMC, I do not think you will be allowed to sit in the waiting room with your SO. I was not in GZ, but others have written about this subject. My SO has told me and others have stated it too. It seems that everyone has the same time for the interview. After clearing security, it seems that in the morning all the biometrics (fingerprinting, etc) are done. Everyone comes back after lunch and that is when the interviews are conducted. I hope this helps. Dave
  9. Welcome to CFL Sean!!! Like you my family was not thrilled when I told them I was going to China to meet a lady I met online. I thought my Mom was going to have a cow! And I was 46 and had been to Korea twice in the military. But I found that my SO took good care of me. People stared when we were at the bus stop, but it did not bother me. We went to the Cultural Village in ShenZhen and the children all wanted to say Hello. But that was ok. I found most of the people to curious, but not dangerous. Have a safe trip and enjoy the experience. Dave
  10. It is not hard to do the paperwork yourself. With help from the people on this site and my fiancee we did it ourselves amd had not problems. It may seem confusing, but you can get your questions asnwered on this site and set your mind to ease. I know it worked for me. Dave
  11. Welcome to CFL, Elizabeth. There are a few here that are filing DCF. I think beijingjenny is having her interview very soon. So she should be able to give you a head's up on how long it will take. Hope this helps. Dave
  12. Good Luck to Bob and Nicole. I think from the way things are working now, that they arrive in the morning for the biometrics and look at the receipt for the visa. Then they come back in the afternoon for the interview. This is what my SO told me happened in her group. I think a "yellow cow" must be some mama-san that thinks she owns the turf where everyone waits. Dave
  13. Congratulations MRMC. April 6 is just around the corner, so take a Valuim, Jack, Crown, and a small shot of Jagermiester!!! Good Luck in GZ. Dave
  14. Congratulations Keith and Melissa. The time will go by very quickly. So just keep on practicing the questions, and Good Luck. Dave
  15. Hello Mike, You can call DOS and talk to a person by dailing: 202-663-1225 You will get an automated voice menu, hit (1), then you will hear the automated voice say this is the last message you need to listen to. Wait a minute then press (0). It should say all service reps are busy, and tell you the wait is_____ minutes. I usually had to wait around 20 to 40 minutes to get to talk to someone. Be sure you have your SO name and birthday, and case number if you have gotten it. If you need the case number tell the person and they can give it to you. You mayalso want to call first thing in the morning, as the wait is not as long. There are times when the line is crowded and it will tell you to call back, so just keep trying. Hope this helps. Dave
  16. I deon't know if this will help, but I went through a company called Vitalrecords.com(I think that is the name) on the internet and got my birth certificate from Missouri in just 2 weeks. I live in Mississippi. I do not know if it will help but maybe they have someone who can make the process go faster. Like Dan R I order more than one copy to have as a backup. Dave
  17. Congratulations Chuck. Like everyone else I think the involvment of a third party correspondence without giving the applicant and petitioner a forum to dispute it is wrong. Your case proves that third parties are out for themselves. Dave
  18. Congratulations! It fills like sping here around 65 today with sun and very little clouds. Dave
  19. Congratulations Rick!!! When will she arrive in the US. Dave
  20. Happy Birthday Carl!! I am sure there will be many more down the road. Dave
  21. Congratulations to you! Hope you cleaned the house before you left. Dave
  22. Congratulations Rick. I know you will not sleep until she gets the visa tomorrow. Dave
  23. I have been told that it is a law in Tennesse, that if a couple divorces they are still brother and sister. Good thing the courts got involved with that one.
