  1. Congratulations....Great way to spend the long weekend, in celebration. Dave
  2. My fiancee got some really good deals at a mall in ShenZhen. We were the first customers of the day and went to the store room to see more stock. She didn't like the price so we started to leave, the man came running after us. She told me to wait and then proceed to talk him down even further. I have seen her get some really good bargains, for me during both my trips to China. In another story on my last trip we went to ZheJiang to meet her family and then spent 2 days in HangZhou. It was right by the lake and very pretty. We were doing the tourist things and had just left the pagoda and were going to take a boat ride. We started walking, but did not know how far it would be. So we saw a cap and walked back to it and the cab took us 1 block, where we could catch one of the boats to go for a trip on the lake. The driver must have told everyone how he took the big American's money. The boat ride was nice though. Dave
  3. My fiancee read on 001 about a woman who is scheduled for Feb 1, she sent her p-3 back Sept 27. I know I called DOS last week and they told me we had not been scheduled yet, so I wonder if we have been scheduled and they are slow in sending out the p-4s. I will finish the i-134 and getting copies of my passport notarized and sending everything off the first of next week. Just like GZ to suprise everyone with short notices. Dave Our p-3 was returned Sep 10.
  4. We returned the P-3 on Sept 10. I called DOS Friday Jan 7, and we still have not been scheduled for the interview. I am thinking the first of Feb for a March interview. So I think 4 to 6 months depending on the backlog at GZ. Dave
  5. Congratulations on getting through the visa process. I wish you all the luck. Dave
  6. Congratulations on getting the visa. And thanks for posting the questions. Dave
  7. Congratulations on your success. Have a happylife together. Dave
  8. I called DOS Friday and my SO had not been scheduled as yet. She returned the P-3 on Spt 10, so we are thinking it will be at the end of the month. I hope. Dave
  9. I know when I went to China the first time in late March 2004 they had a report they were stopping americans from getting the visas ast the border because of the crackdown by fingerprinting everyone who enters the US. I have flown into HK both times I have traveled and I know the United flights get in around early evening. I used a visa service in the US to get the visa, and they have always returned my passport after one week. This is when using their regular service. Dave
  10. Congratulations on passing the interview. Hope the good luck continues for the January interviews. Dave
  11. Welcome Back Trigg. You have been missed, even though we do not have the RR anymore. I always enjoyed reading your posts. Pull up a chair and stay awhile. Dave
  12. Welcome Bill! What part of Louisiana are you in? I am in Gulfport, Mississippi, so I get to New Orleans a couple times during the year. My SO is from ShenZhen and we are waiting for our interview date. I am hoping that it will come out after the first of the new year. I would like to go and be with her for the interview, but I have used a lot of my vacation time up. I would rather use it for when she arrives and for our honeymoon. Good luck for the interview. Dave
  13. After seeing Phil get his interview date, I tried to call DOS and see if they were scheduling for us who are close and waiting. Unfortunately, the gentlemen said that we had not been scheduled for an interview. I will try again after the first of the year. Dave
  14. Good Luck to everyone who is interviewing this month. Be sure to keep in contact so we know how the interviews went. Those of us still waiting will be interested. Dave
  15. I use onesuite.com and have not had any problems. Because I work nights most of my calls are in the wee hours for the US. I do know that the reduced the rates at onesuite.com recently. No local access numbe has changed from .048/min to .037/min. I know local access has lowered too, but since I do not have it and did not note what it was. Sorry. Dave
  16. Did someone say swap wife and fiancee? I didn't know this was a swingers site. I would never!!!!!!! Just joking. I hope everyone has a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!! May we all get our SO to the end of the visa process early in the New Year. David
  17. I agree with Mick. When I went in Sept, we took the bus from ShenZhen to GZ. Then took a taxi to Shamain Island. Not very expensive and it was a good way to see the countryside. Dave
  18. I am one of the ones who have always found Asian women to be exoctic. I was married to a Caucasian woman for 5 years and it did not work out. I spent 2 tours in Korea with the Air Force for a total of 3 1/2 years. I enjoyed learning about the culture and I found most of the people to be friendly after they get to know you a little. When I got out of the Air Force I dated women of all types, but I still was on the lookout for that special Asian lady. I had dated a Vietnamese lady before I found my fiancee on the internet, (we had stopped dating before I went looking on the internet). I just knew that I would be happier with an Asian lady as my wife. My brother is married to a Japanese lady he met in Okinawa. So maybe it runs in the genes. Dave
  19. I found this article to be interesting. While it may or may not be from an immigration officer, but it probably does convey what is wrong with the system. Congress does not really care about immigration as long terrorist do not come into the US. Unless they are in heavily Hispanic states that have a high illegal population, then immigration is a hot stove issue. I do find the official reason about rudeness and lack of manners to be totally inapproriate. He works in a job that sees hundreds of people a day, that may not speak English well and are nervous about the process. You may see fraud and liars and have to make a quick descision, but that does not mean you have to be an a**hole to everyone. I do not mean you have to engage in conversation, but it would not hurt to smile and be pleasant. I work in a casino where we deal with people and money and alcohol, but it is not hard to be pleasant, even when someone is yelling about a mistake. And I see hundreds of people a day also. So don't say it cannot be done, just pull your head out of the sand and be polite. Just my 2 yuan. David
  20. My Fiancee lives in ShenZhen too. I have visited 2 times and found good resturants and shopping. I did most of my Christmas shopping when I was there the end of September. I really enjoyed my time there. Have a great trip. Dave
  21. As a casino employee who works with several Vietnamese, I can say this does not surprise me. I know when I told some of them I was going to China, to meet my fiancee many said they could introduce me to a relative from Vietnam. Some even said they would pay me up to $10,000 to $15,000 to marry a relative. It seems that the family in the US gets together and contributes to the fund. The catch is after she gets her permanent green card, she goes to live with the family. It is only a fraud marriage. One Vietnamese lady introduced her niece to one of the man at work around the same time I started the visa process. They told me it would only take them 6 months to complete the K-1 process. They still are no further along than we are. But he really does not know much about the process, he says the lawyer is handling everything and he just signs paperwork when they tell him too. I never wanted to be involved with any of this and after finding such a wonderful woman in my fiancee, I am glad I stuck by my morals. But it does show that there is fraud in other countries not just China. So they need to look hard at the process in those counties too. Dave
  22. Congratulations to you!!!!! Have A Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays together. Dave
  23. Congratulations I am happy to hear that everything went well. Dave
