  1. Congratulations on passing the interview, and thanks for posting the questions. Those of us waiting really appreciate it. David
  2. Congratulations MoonCarol...I know you are so happy the ordeal is over, and we were all pulling for you two. Best of Luck, Dave
  3. The way I understand it is there is a line for people to submit additional evidence after they have received a blue slip. They will take the paperwork and review it that day and the next day you show up and they will tell you if the Vias is approved or they need further evidence. I went to the Thursday session on my visit in September, and the official said they have to look at the evidence an d make a descision. But if they do not approve it you can resubmit again, with further evidence. Dave
  4. It is longer to bring our SO from China, because of the outdated laws about the communist threat. I do not think any of us will be swayed to join the local Red Guards, because we are in love with a Chinese national. But our government is not so sure. We might demand that we have the freedom to chose which political party we like, and hold officials accountable for there lazy bureaucratic thinking. Or it could be that they think all our ladies will treat us better than American ladies, and the resent that. Dave
  5. Like many others I had been divorced for over 10 years, and even though I dated I had not found anyone I felt I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. My co-workers all know I like Asian women, so they all give me a heads-up when one comes walking by. I work in a casino so I see many people of different ethnic backrounds. At first my Mom was not real supportive. My MM and her have talked on the phone and e-mailed a few times to each other. So now she is very happy for us. My brother is married to a Japanese lady, so he is real supportive. My Mom even said "I don't know what it is about you and your brother and Oriental women", when I first told her. All my sisters are very happy for us. My friends and co-workers are all supportive. I get asked when will she come over, and I have to explain how slow our government is. At work one man who has already married a lady from the Phillipines, and another has met his fiancee from Vietnam. So I am not the only one going through the process.
  6. I think Jason(JP) chas a good lawyer who specializes in immigration issues. I know if you look back on one of the topics where Did You Use a Lawyer?, you may find his name. I hope that you find a good lawyer and that you get all your issues resolved. Dave
  7. Congratulations Turtle!!!! I am sure you are glad this ordeal is over. Best of Luck to both of you. Dave
  8. I know when I visited my fiancee in Sept there were a couple of times people asked if she was my interperter. She told them no she was going to be my wife and they are the ones that looked embarrassed. I knw I got a lot of stares in China, but it does not bother me, as long as my MM is next to me. Dave
  9. Congratulations to Mark and Bea and now Elizabeth!!!!! I know from the lunch we had on Sept 25, that Bea was getting very near. I remember talking to you and how proud a Daddy you were. Bonnie and I send all our hopes for a long and fulfilling life to your daughter. I think she has 2 very nice and special people as parents. Good Luck. Dave
  10. Carl, I hope everything goes ok afterthe way the visa interview went. You and Bing deserve to have something good happen. I hope that you have no more problems with this silly process. Dave
  11. WOW..You actually received a letter from NVC...I know most of us had to call to get the GUZ number and status. It usually take about 2 or 3 weeks for the paperwork from NVC to clear customs in GZ. It is a low priority to them. Once it clears customs then your wife should recieve the P-3 within 2 weeks depending on the realiability of the mail delivery. Good luck and hop in line for the long wait to the interview. Dave
  12. When I went to the information session at the consulate they stated that you should recieve a reply to your e-mail in 5 to 7 working days. They have had problems with the server and some e-mails are not getting to them. They also said if you send another e-mail before the other is answered you move to the back of the line. So maybe an e-mail every week is defeating your purpose. Maybe one every other week is the way to go. My Fiancee e-mailed GZ and got no response. When I got home from China I e-mailed them and had a response in 3 or 4 days. Dave
  13. Welcome Alberto! I know you will find this site to be very informative. I did not use a lawyer and have found all the answers to my questions froom people on this site. How can we forget all the lovely women from ShenZhen!!! I know I can not forget my MM in ShenZhen. Dave
  14. When I submitted the I-129F, I sent a divorce certificate from the state where my divorce was filed. I received an RFE from TSC asking for the divorce papers taht were signed by a court official(judge), so I had to obtain those and send them in. I will be sure to send copies of both to my MM for her interview. In case any documents have been misplaced. Dave
  15. I have flown United for both my trips. I used expedia and the price for both were under 850, and that is coming out of New Orleans and only one change of planes. But I do know that United offered last minute deals to to HK from various cities for under 600. I know others have had bad service on United, but I have been pleased with them. And I have my frequent flier miles with them. Dave
  16. Congratulations PJ. Can the immunizations be done before the interview? I think it is like people have said that the applications are pre-screened. If everything seems to be fine when you walk in, no problem. If the VO does not believe a blue-slip will be given and more info needed. I too want to thank you for starting this site, it is a god-send during the lonely months of waiting. Dave
  17. Jeff: I am sorry if I miswrote...I meant that the processing for the second name check. I know that some take longer than others and after that is done, then there is the long wait for the P-4. Which I know is running around 4 months or longer. I was just asking if the second name check was completed so quickly. Dave
  18. Hi Aggie, Yes..I thought so, but you never know with the government double speak. I really miss SZ and Bonnie. But it was a nice day and a pleasure to meet you and everyone else. So now we are in the long line waiting for P-4. Dave
  19. I think Congraatulations are in order. Contact GZ and they will be able to better tell you how to handle this. Dave
  20. I know this is not a subject anyone wants to talk about with their new wife, or recently arrived spouse. But maybe this is something that should be discussed early. Where are all the necessary papers if one dies, who to contact, what agencies might help in a time of need. Also think about updating a will and insurance at work and home. I think being open about the fact that a fatal accident could happen would bring peace of mind to you and your spouse. My MM just had a good friend killed in China, by a man who is crazy and admitted to killing other women. He did not think he would be caught. I would pay for the bullet to execute him, because of the grief he has caused. But unexpected things do happen. Preparation is vital to insuring your loved ones continued well being. Dave
  21. I called DOS Monday early and only had about a 15 minute wait. I was calling to check on the status of our case, as my fiancee mailed the P-3 back to GZ on Sept 10. The lady on the phone said she is waiting to be scheduled for her interview, but did not know when that would be. I was a little skeptical, because I thought the second name check would take more than a month to do. So I sent an e-mail to GZ, asking about the status and if the name check had been completed. The reply came today and it is as follows: *********** Dear Petitioner Thank you for your email, we recently finished pre-interview processing of visa application. She is now waiting to be scheduled for an interview. Once the interview date is scheduled, we will mail the appointment packet to her address. Given high volume of visa applications, we cannot predict when the interview will be scheduled. For information on visa processing procedure and time frame, please refer to our website. > Sincerely Yours > Immigrant Visa Unit ************ So if I read this right, we are now waiting for the P-4 and schedule for the interview. Or is this the standard reply after the P-3 has been sent out from GZ. Thanks, Dave
  22. I should say I was not ill except for the Hangover I had from dinner with her brother. The 5 bottles of Chinese wine that night make it a big blur. The next day was a long day.
  23. I just got back after 2 weeks in China. I was all over ShenZhen, HangZhou, GuangZhou, JiangXi, PingHu and only had one day where my stomache was upset. So I put it down to what I ate, and I had Immodium AD along. I brushed my teeth with the tap water, but drank bottled water, or Cokes the rest of the time. We ate in a lot of resturants and at home(I cooked spahetti one night), but no street vendors, so I may be lucky. Unfortunately, my fiance has been feeling sick since I left. I think it is because we did so much traveling and had the A/C on so much. She is not used to it being so cool during her sleep. Dave
  24. Does this mean if I go to China and stay with my fiancee, I have to tell the Public Safety Bureau. I have been to China twice and did not register either time. We traveled to meet her parents, brother, cousin, and never stayed in one place for more than 3 days. Was I suppose to register for each stay longer than 24 hours. Something new to do if I go back. Dave
