  1. After Green Card is issued. Do they have to get a US Passport and Chinese visa to take a trip back to China??? or does there Chinese Passport still work?? Carl How does this work...?? What do you need to get in/out --China/America
  2. I translated and answered some of the questions In both wife and stepsons interviews for AOS. Twas never told I couldn't durning the interview.. I was expecting it though, but they never whipped me for doing it. That was two differant AOS interviewers. I think Portland is just easy for this process as you get your green card a month after interview and other places in the country takes much longer...
  3. It will only take you about three or five weeks to get the actual green card...
  4. I looked into Cooks Park (in Tigard), looks good but it's $pendy. A resident of Tigard would have to make the reservation, $20 booking fee, then the site fee is around $13 per hour. So for 4 hours it'd be around $72. If we can't get a resident of Tigard to make the reservation, it's double that! Juxin and I looked at some places this weekend - Washington Park (maybe), Kelly Point Park (nope), still have other places to check out. Keep ya posted!! UPDATE --- okay, I like Cook Park in Tigard, great facilities. Here's their website: Cook Park in Tigard, Oregon - I'm eyeballing shelter # 3. With the way this "spring" is going, we very well could have rain on that day. But if we go for this, everyone will have to chip in a few bucks, maybe up to $5? But here is the kicker ... a Tigardian would have to make the reservation for us. Does anyone know anyone who knows someone who lives in Tigard who can make the reservation for us? I think they really will want to see "proof" of residence. Oh no ... echos of governmental beauracracy!! Long_strider, do you live there? Blue Lake Park might be a thought...
  5. we were not asked for pictures together.. All I had to show was my Oregon DL. All she had to show was Oregon ID; passport. EAD, and S/S card... She had to wait for CIA clearence but it was completed by the time we had her sons AOS--two weeks later.. Both visas were stamped with temp/ green card. I had chimed in several times with answeres to questions that they were asking wife/son and didn't get slapped or anything... sometimes I would rephrase the question in words I knew they would understand. (no backhand there either).
  6. That's a perfect case of where the right brain knows what the left is doing. To bad it don't happen more often---then people could drive and talk on the cell phone at the same time...
  7. It says employment authorized because you are K-1. K-3 does not get this on there I-94 card..
  8. They told us the green card could take anywhere from 1 to 11 months... Im sure glad there not sticking there neck out to far to be more precise---they might get a bad name!!!!!
  9. SAME HERE and I used copy's of that for the rest of the process here in the states.. We have original but never had to show it..
  10. I brought all that stuff to my AOS interview and the lady asked me what I brought it for. They only wonted to see me drivers license. I got to do this twice.. once for my wife and two weeks later for the son (18). Two differant people.. one--hardily any questions the second--many many questions. In the end--we got approved for both of them... They stamp there passport with a temp green card till the real one shoes up in the mail. This works like a work permit Im guessing..
  11. Im in for the dinner.. just let me know when.... hard to get a word in edge-wise here. How about the old country kitchen... I think they have chinese steak and pitch forks.. (just kidden)
  12. Hi I just did this in Portland... It only took a few weeks to start getting fingerprint appointments and a few weeks after AOS. Your on the home stretch now. All my stuff went through Portland. April was cutoff date for local processing... don't know how long it might take to go through Chicago.. You might be the first one around here....
  13. I also have the stepson to do a week later....
  14. Does the spouse need to attend the AOS interview for any reason other than support???????
