  1. This is an ongoing topic - click here for Most Recent Post . . . from the People's Daily. Some revealing attitudes expressed here. You can bet the people of Taiwan keep a close eye on papers like this. Hong Kong political system - why go step by step? Go to Last Entry for most recent posts.
  2. My wife and I are flying to China for a few weeks in October on Air Canada, she has a 10 year green card. My question is in regards to flying back from Hong Kong, will she need anything as far as a visa to leave mainland China or will her green card and flight ticket be enough? Looking online I did not find anything that was required except the green card and ticket but want to be sure we are correct. Thanks.
  3. Does anyone know if the K-1 VISA allows the fiance to take off from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) instead of an airport in mainland China? I heard that they are allow to do so and stay in Hong Kong for at most 7 days, but have yet to find the source of that information. Or does the fiance need to have a separate valid permit to enter Hong Kong to board a flight at HKG? Thank you
  4. i really didn't understand why my hong kong cousins' were shocked when i was marrying a china girl few years ago, never brothered me and never give a thought. they would say why a china girl? there are so many chinese girls in ny!!! china girl?!!! my understanding was we are all chinese, any way you look at it, so it really doesn't matter to me. i was born in hong kong but immigrated to ny when i was 7, so i'm really out of the loop, in terms of hong kong/china relationship. recently i been reading newspaper about tensions bewteen hong kong/china but never brother to pay much attendtion to it. until one day, i google "why do people from hong kong hate people from china" and i see page after page of sites and postings. i read and kinda understand why hong kong people are pissed off at china people. their situations are like ours, illegal immigrants entering usa and getting free benefits and usa people are paying for their free benefits. here is one of the link, http://reasonswhywehate.tumblr.com/ please keep it clean, no punching or jabs, and most important of all, this post is not intended to offend anyone. i still love my china girl who born me a healthy son. we are still together!!!
  5. Hello Everyone!!! It's been awhile. Will my wife be able to travel to Hong Kong with only her Chinese Passport and US Permanent Resident Card? If yes, does it hold true to all other countries that I could travel to without obtaining a visa?
  6. We are hoping for an answer to our DCF from mid March any time now (wife is CCP). We have been researching whether Ling's visa (fingers crossed, knock on wood, etc) to the US will allow her to enter Hong Kong where we hope to spend a day or two before catching a flight to the US. To be clear, we would take the bullet train to Shenzhen, cross over into Hong Kong for a short stay, then fly from Hong Kong to America. If needed, we can get the permit for her to travel to Hong Kong from the police, but it is an extra hassle and life would be easier if we don't need to do it. I have checked Delta's website, searched through the archives here, and just googled it...but I cannot get a clear answer! Anyone have experience with this? Thoughts, ideas, and wisdom welcomed! Z
  7. Who offers the best fare at the last minute from HKG to USA? Say to SFO or LAX. If there is such, lol.......I might have a 3-5 day advance notice only.
  8. Hello everyone. I want to go from NYC to Nanning. The best prices so far that I can find is to fly into Hong Kong. Looked on United and Delta for prices and availibility. A bit high but available. The problem that I am concern is how to get from Hong Kong to Nanning ( round trip). I found some flights thru FlyChina.com. The prices weree either $300 or 429 flying with Hong Kong Airlines or China Southern. I never heard of Hong Kong Airlines going into Nanning. Has anyone ever flown with them to Nanning. Are they reliable? Two other questions. Has anyone booked flight thru Flychina.com or would I be better going thru the Airlines directly? Also how much time should I allow between my US leg and China leg portions of my flights? Is two hours enough or is that cutting too short? Do I have any other vaible and affordable options? sorry for so many questions at once. I appreciate you alls thoughts. Danb
  9. I'm new and have been reading the FAQs. I'm confused as a result. My GF (who I am about to visit for the first time) is a permanent resident of Hong Kong. I am a US citizen. I believe she was born there (need to confirm that) but she has lived and worked there many years. The FAQ (http://candleforlove.com/FAQ/CFL_FAQ_DCF_Final1.htm) implies obtaining a K1 or K3 for her in HK is a little simpler because Guangzhou does not process the applications, the Chinese processing is done in HK. Is this correct ? If I send my I-129F to the US visa center, it will go to GZ, but immediately is passed to HK for the actual processing ? A.3.4.7 confuses me a little - is this a discussion of her interview at the US consulate in HK, and a K3 visa issued the next day ? Would the same apply to a K1 ? Since I own my home, I can add her name as an owner of the property to meet the I-130 requirement : "Documentation showing joint ownership or property" , but I don't know the sticky details of that yet, so is Fiancee /I-129F be simpler ? Thanks for any advice, hope my questions aren't too unfocused.
  10. The date have finally arrive. My wife is coming to US this Saturday. She taking a bus to Hong Kong and then a plane from Hong Kong to US. My question is do she need to apply to enter Hong Kong. Can she enter Hong Kong with her IR1 Visa, China passport and plane ticket?
  11. My wife, a Green Card holder, has returned to China to celebrate the New Year with her family. I will be returning to China in a couple weeks for work. Can my wife re-enter Hong Kong with her Chinese passport and Green Card to meet me at the airport and then re-enter China? I know she can re-enter Kong Kong for 7 days if she has a return ticket to the USA. But will entering Hong Kong only to return to China a couple days later pose any problems? Thanks!
  12. Hi, Is there anyone who has obtained a police certificate from Hong Kong. Hong Kong requires me to send the application with a letter from NVC saying that a police certificate is needed. I called NVC and that representative told me to send in what I have right now (without the hk police certificate) and when they find out I am missing something, then NVC will send us a checklist. Is there anyway to avoid this delay? They said they will genereate a checklist at some point...but I am not really sure what she was talking about. I have paid AOS and IV fee, but haven't submit my tax documents (i864) stuff. Thanks.
  13. I'm starting this post to help anyone who plans to go to Hong Kong for a China F visa. I'll post again when I get back about my hotel and experience. If your in search of a China visa in Hong Kong then you need to process your application at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the P.R.C. Here is their website. This will list the most up to date application, address, map and phone numbers as well as cost of visa's and supporting documents you will need. Currently (August 5th 2009) they prefer you get your visa in your home of residence. If you do get your visa in HK you will need 4 working days, they are closed on Saturday and Sunday. This includes the submission day, e.g. if you were to submit your application on Monday you would pick up your visa on Thursday. They offer rush services. For U.S. Citizens the cost of an F visa is 1020 HKG. There are many cheap Hostels in Kowloon that range from 50 RMB (dorm style) a night to 300 RMB (single rooms). Beware of hawkers/hustlers/scammers who may pretend to be from your hotel and lead you to a different place.
  14. Has anyone traveled to Hong Kong lately to obtain an F visa? I may have to do this soon and I'm wondering how long of a stay will they grant me, and maybe the contact of a good visa agent (I read I need one) my company is working on it but I'd like to know for my self to get a heads up. Also, if anyone could point me to a very low budget dorm type hostel I would appreciate it, just as long as I'm not going to be stabbed or robbed, I do have standards...
  15. Does anyone have copies of the forms for Hong Kong's P3 packet for a K3? I was hoping to go ahead and have my wife send them in without waiting for the mail. Hong Kong uses regular mail only not EMS and this is the second time they have mailed them to her in Dalian (10-14 day wait) and she hasn't got them. I searched their site and could not find anything like GUZ has for the contents of their P3.
  16. Hi All, Well, since I don't know if that China-HK tunnel Tony mentioned is open to the general public ... I need to figure out a different way to get from Hong Kong to the mainland. Couple questions: 1. Are there any buses or other forms of transportation that go straight from HK airport to the mainland? 2. I am arriving 10 PM. Would I be able to catch a bus that evening to the mainland (Guangzhou, Foshan, or Nanhai)? I'd actually rather not sleep in Hong Kong that night, but go straight to the mainland. 3. If this doesn't work, any hotel recommendations? Should I book something before I arrive? I am not a very detailed-oriented person UNTIL a big event comes upon me and I have those scary thoughts and visions of being in a different country and not having a place to sleep or figure out where I am going. Then I hit the panic button. This is just my modus operandi. Thanks everyone! Thanks, P.J.
  17. Hello All, Do any of you know how to get a hong kong visa for my chinese citizen SO from China? I want to get her to be able to come visit HK with me when I bring her back from China any idea how I can do this? Thanks Joe
  18. The question i have is, if i get married in hong kong ( CR1 ). I'm a dual citizenship in HK and USA and my fiancee is a china citizen. when the interviewing, where would it be ? in Hong Kong or in Guangzhou ?
  19. The thought never occurred to me as an option and I don't remember reading anything about it when I joined this site two years ago, but is getting married in Hong Kong a viable option? I have read bits and pieces here and it seems that if you can get married in Hong Kong, the process is simpler and faster. As opposed to a K-1 visa or K-3 or CR-1, how does a Hong Kong marriage shakes out in terms of speed? How easy is it for a Chinese national to get a permit to enter Hong Kong for that purpose and return later for an interview? Although I'm no longer part of the visa process anymore, is a Hong Kong marriage a faster alternative? If it is, perhaps it should be discussed more here at CFL. Perhaps answers can help the folks just starting the process, As aye, Jim

  21. I think the deal was Jason that you used to be able to go to Thailand on vacation with your SO get married and do a DCF. I am fairly sure they slammed the door shut on that option.
  22. --- "List all the countries you have entered in the last 10 years"--- She's never left China, except for a trip to Hong Kong earlier this year. Hong Kong IS a part of China, but..... Chinese need special travel passes to enter, and only if they are from Guangdong. I think the majortity of Chinese can only enter with official tour groups. So, is the answer to question 9 on form DS-157: a- none b- Hong Kong I assume she does not need to include China on the list.....(?) Thanks!
  23. As some of you know my wife is comming here on a k-3 visa and it has now cleared NVC on its way to Hong Kong. I am wondering how long of a wait will I expect it to take to get the p4 once the p3 has been returned. I see most people for GZ is about 4 months but I have heard HK is faster. So I am trying to see what yall think. Anyway thanks for the help oh and now that it is at HK how will I be able to check the status of the case? Thanks all!
  24. Because I have a lot of points with United I was thinking about flying to HK then taking a train to Guangzhou. In 2003 out of necessity I had to buy a Chinese visa coming back to Zhuhai from HK. Can I still buy a Chinese visa in HK? Is that recommended? Since I don't live in a Chinese Consulate city I was wondering what would be cheaper? Thanks
  25. I think this question has been asked before, but I'm unclear of the answer. My honey and I would like to fly from her hometown directly to Hong Kong, then fly to America from Hong Kong. Can Chinese citizens fly out of Hong Kong (on a one-way ticket) with no problems? What problems does this pose? Will she need special permission to do that? Where would she get the permission to do so?
