  1. Today I will file the I-485 and I-131 for my new bride. We will not do the EAD at this time as we hope to return to China in the Fall and will remain there for five months, provided my wife's travel documents are approved. Anyhow, what happens now? Will we receive an interview in a few years followed by a conditional green card? I am a little unsure of what steps to take next to get my wife her green card. Thank you for any information on this subject. Larry
  2. My fiancees medical records were taken at Los Angeles International airport. In the instructions for the I-485 it says a vaccination supplement may be included with this form. Since I don't have the supplement, just file without it? Thanks Larry
  3. I have some questions for those of you you have file the I-485 form before. Regarding the I-485 It asks for the place of last entry into the United States. I assume this means if my fiancee had come to the United States on a previous occassion, is that correct? I think I should answer "none" to this question. If I answer "none" then the next question, "In what status did you last enter" would be answered N/A. Nonimmigrant Visa Number - is this the 14 digit Control number on the visa? The reason I ask this is there is an 8 digit number in the bottom part of the visa with no explanation. The I-485 also asks for the I-94#. Aside from the A# the only other number on the I-94 is an 11 digit number on the top left corner. Is this the correct number? Thank you Larry
  4. We were married today in Oxnard, California and I am preparing the AOS forms. I downloaded the AOS packet from the USCIS website. In that packet, a I-130 is included. I do not believe that I need to file that form. I think the NOA-2 is used instead of that, but am not sure. I believe the following forms are needed for AOS from a K-1 visa: I-485 I-864 G-325A (for my wife only) I-797 (NOA-2, the packet 3 NOA). I am talking about the government forms and not supporting documents at this point. Can anyone who has gone through this part of the immigration process enlighten me. Thank you very much. Larry
  5. My fiancee, Wenjuan, arrived in Los Angeles a few days ago. We are both very happy. I can now give you more information on her interview. She was scheduled for an 8:00 am interview and waited for four hours. Eventually she was told to return at 2:00 pm for the interview as there were too many people. She returned at 2:00 pm and was interviewed by an American woman. She described the woman as very beautiful with a lovely smile. Here is the gist of the questions. The interview time was between 4 and 5 minutes in length. VO: nihao, nihao VO (in English now) 1. Have you ever come to America? 2. Who petitioned you? 3. How did you meet? 4. How many times did he come to guangzhou? 5. Do you have any photos? I had prepared a portfolio of 22 photos which spaned my two visits. She was really impressed with the photos which included dates. 6. How long he stay here (this was important)? The visa officer replied: I give you visa. you come back tomorrow at 4 pm, stand at the door and wait for your visa. That was it. I came away with the most important things were the photos and my two visits, the last which was over seven months. We will marry probably in two weeks, at which time, will marry, apply for AOS, EAD and one other process which I forget. If all goes well, I hope to return to China in September for four or five months. Good luck to all of you. Larry Nicholas
  6. My fiancee had her interview on April 21. She was scheduled for the morning session but for some reason after waiting all morning, they moved her to the afternoon session. Anyhow, she spoke with a very nice and beautiful American woman. They only spoke for about 3 minutes. She asked three question, the first one being how did you meet. The second one was had I visited her. She told the VO that we had lived together for 7 months in Guangzhou. I don't know the third question. My fiancee offered the photo album I had prepared for the interview and the VO just loved it. They laughed for the entire three minutes. She did not ask for any financial information or other relationship supporting documents. The photo album was sufficient. She was told to return on April 22 at 4:00 pm for her visa. I am glad this is over. Now I move to phase II: the AOS, work authorization and return travel to China. Good luck to all of you who are still awaiting your interview. So, it took me one year and 19 days from start to finish for the K-1. Larry
  7. For my fiancees K1, DS-230 Part I was included. But for the P4 package, there was no DS-230 Part II. Perhaps this have decided the form is of little value. Larry
  8. DS-156 question 26 asks are long do you intend to stay in the US. I wrote "forever" since I am going to marry my fiancee. But I am not sure that is the proper answer since this is a non-immigrant visa. How are others answering this question? thanks, Larry stay in the U.S.?
  9. My fiancee is having her interview on April 21. She wants to arrive in Guangzhou on April 14, but I think that is a little early. I know there are two hospitals available to her with one being on Xiamian Island. I am not sure where the other one is. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to either one? Also, can someone recommend a hotel in Guangzou for an 8 day stay. Thank you, Larry
  10. My fiancee's notarial certification for her divorce papers is over one year now. It was the same document I submitted with the I-129. Can I use this same document for her April 21 interview? My thinking is a divorce is a divorce and cannot be changed. So even if the certification was 5 years old it would still be valid. I realize this does not apply to her single certification as the date of that should be close to her interview date. Appreciate your comments. Larry
  11. When my fiancee gets her notarial police certificate, she must also get a document which says she is currently "unmarried" as required in the K1 Visa Interview. Can someone give me the procedure for getting this certificate. I would be interested in what a typical letter would look like for this document. There is no form that I could find. Thanks to all, Larry
  12. Subject: P4 - Certification of Legal Capacity and Intent to Marry My fiancee received her Packet 4, and in there was a form called, "Certification of Legal Capacity and Intent to Marry". Does this form have to be notarized by a Chinese Official before brought to Guangzhou, or does my fiancee just complete it and take it to Guangzhou for the Consulates signature during the interview? thank you Larry
  13. In the Packet 4 document package, there is a form called, "Certification of Legal Capacity and Intent to Marry". It looks as though my fiancee just fills in my name and signs it. Then the Consulate signs the form. Is this all there is to it? It does not have to be notarized by anyone outside of the embassy correct? I am also told that she must get a letter from the authorities saying she is not now married and this must be notarized or at least be from the proper authorities. In other words, since her divorce in 1989, she is not now married. Is this correct. There were no instructions in the Packet 4 concerning this letter, but I have seen mention of it here. Perhaps these letters are one in the same. Appreciate your help. Larry
  14. This is the first time I have heard of a marriage eligibility document for my fiancee. She has her certified divorce papers. Can someone tell me what for the marriage eligibility document is? thanks, Larry
  15. Just to let everyone know: I just called the DOS and she told me, my fiancee is scheduled for her interview on April 21, 2005. Our P3 was received in Guangzhou November 16, 2004. k-1 sent to CSC 4/1/2004 P3 received and returned November 12, 2004 Larry
