  1. I guess it's all case by case. Looking at this genral topic from 3rd person point of veiw. I ask 3 questions. 1. Is the couple legitamately happy with one another? 2. Are they being destructive to themselves or anyone else? 3. Does anyone have the right to stop them from loving each other or finding happiness? The couples should be asking each other the same. Hopefully two people marry, because they both believe that true love can last forever or they never want to love another person but there spouse. It would be idiotic for anyone to get married if they thought that they would someday get a divorce or they still wanted to go out chasing other lovers. Even if you thought that your spouse (or future spouse) felt that way and you didn't, could you get yourself to marry that person? Based on perception, I think it's easy for people to feel scepticle of us. They probably have this feeling... She's much younger than her spouse, she's beautiful, poor, not very educated, speaks terrible english, lives across the ocean, bored at home or with life in general and has the opportunity to live in a free society where the standard of living and quality of life is considerably higher. What does she have to lose and what personable quality's would she be willing to give up from her mentally "ideal" partner? There are so many benifits that come with marrying an American guy. The only way to take advantage of these benifits is to get married. The couple never lived with each other before and known each other less than 1 year before deciding to get married. Are the all marriages solely based on pure love alone? It's easy for people to be criticile. Now having said all the above, read the first questions again? The answers are still the same. I even felt a little hesitant to break the word about my marraige because I was concerned that people might feel or think differently about me because of this perception. Online, China, marriage ...yada yada yada. I got over it because I truely love my wife. I'll go through any road block to be with her. Time apart, distance, $$$, and the Visa are all road blocks for my wife and I to be happy and in love. Slowly, but surely these road blocks will be nipped in the b@tt. Love knows no bounds. When people are in love, the people that don't know love, can't apprieciate the feeling or power of it. I certainly can appriecitae the feelings of Dr. Phils guests. Even from both sides. The guests on his show could never be happy if they needed to make everyone that was judging them happy. Fortunately my friends and family have all been very supportive of my marriage and it really helps alot.
  2. Everything Matters. Don't give them any excuse to deney you.
  3. This is the 1st time I've heard this coming up as an issue. I personally wouldn't have known any better. My 864 was signed stamed and dated by the ASC in Peking. I figure No way that NVC could doubt that stamp was legit. The price was right too.... Free...
  4. It isn't necessary to fill out the telegraphic code. Just have her write her name in pinyin. Word of caution on the DS-230. Check the expiration date in the upper right hand corner of the form. make sure it says 2007 , not 2004. The State dept website is correct, but they still mailed me an expired form to fill out. The letters you recieved are the same as everyone else got. I got 2 bar code sheets in two different envelopes for the same application. I mailed the application back to them in one envelope and 2 bar code sheets. One addressed to CMR and the other was CR. Both have the same return address. The only difference in the forms is that the one you download off the website is better quality than the one you get from them in the mail. 4 weeks is really good time for them to get back to you. (funny to refer to 1 month response time as lightning speed, but it is.) They're getting better.
  5. I was gonna recommend that you let your Lao Po borrow your spell checker, but then again, maybe not.
  6. Those 2 forms in the 3.5 are called the (DS230 part 1) Immigrant visa application and the P3 suppliment. Without those, there is no interview, so I think your ok there. I am a little confused about your post though. You said you had your Interview and then your husband is having his interview? Then you say your wife's interview. Where is "here"? dui bu chi. Either way it sounds like you need some help. I would only recommend getting on the phone and speaking with a real person.
  7. The instructions say to use pin yin. I don't believe that error would be a show stopper. Her name in pin yin is already posted over every other document in the package. Her signature however, should be written in her native alphabet. If you like to have some peice of mind. You can always e-mail them and explain what happend. somebody mentioned making an error on the same doc in another thread. The reply to the e-mail was not to worry.
  8. At their mercy... We'll wait as long as they make us and continue to simply grin and bear it. It isn't like they have a competitor, that we take our business elsewhere if we aren't happy with the service we recieve. Stories like this will probably continue because there is obivously no accountibility.

  10. That list should have come with your DS230 app. Mine did. I got 10 pages of instructions. What to bring and the shots required where both listed. Send me a PM. I forwarded the papers to Don also. Great thread so far, still wondering who gets the letter? Me (her agent ) or her? I've heard both.
  11. Fellas, Puhleeaseee... 140 miles vs. > 7000mi. Convienience? Ya right. I was in the Navy. If I wasn't, then I might be able to understand, but having some knowlege of how our goverment operates, i'm not buying it. (even though it's not my choice to buy it or not.) I got that .gif from this site. http://www.delmar.edu/Courses/images/emodicons/?N=A http://www.chinaadviser.com/images/china_mapoptmi.jpg<----http://www.delmar.edu/Courses/images/emodicons/em_jetski_ani.gif <----http://communication.ucsd.edu/Icons/bay-area.gif
  12. They're making Squeaky's wife fly all the way back to GZ for an IR1 interview. Guess we don't have any embassy's in America that could do the work that needs to be done in the Americain embassy in GZ. The 1 million dollar question... Why? I need a new "Bang head here!" sign. http://www.delmar.edu/Courses/images/emodicons/em_banghead_ani.gif
  13. For CR1 it's 6 to 8 weeks from the time you pay for the DS230 app until you reveive it back so you can fill it out. Think they need to hire more dudes in the mail room to stuff envelopes and lick stamps. That's just plain lazy. It's not even like they need to wait for the check to clear, it's certified.
  14. AAAAAAuuuuuGGGGGHhhhhhhh!!!!! OK I feel much better now. Thanks...
  15. Right on. Good news. Iy's easy to get paniced when they are constantly telling you not to screw up. I was a little puzzled over the same thing and saw the same fine print Chinese wife did. Write her name in pin yin or put the telegrafic code. Why bother even putting that on the form in the 1st place?
  16. Too much green tea can cause paranoia, possibly even scitzofrenia. If you were ever in a place that had laxidazicle cops, it would be china. No harm, no foul. Unless you are doing something you shouldn't be. If you are doing something you shouldn't be, then don't tell anybody. You have nothing to worry about. Chill, relax and enjoy your stay. I was at an open market one time and a purse snatcher got busted. two cops had this guy by the arms while the ladies husband was taking head shots at the snatcher. That was cool. the way it should be. Everyone watched and then continued about there merry way after it was over.
  17. Geez... That's tough. It comes back to the same ole question again. I think that the worst part is that if they already know ahead of time, that your not going to get the visa, they should at the very least save you the effort of even showing up for the interview and let you know what it is that needs to be corrected or additional evidence needed. During the course of a 15 minute interview, there is no way any human being is going to be able to tell if the person they are interviewing is legit or not. The liars and the cheats will be practicing their lines for sure. Trying not to look scared or nervous in front of the officer. In other cases maybe the ones that act scared and nervous are suspected of being liars, but are really innocent. With english as a second language and Interviews being conducted in english, I am sure there must be a lot of "suspect" interviewees. Who knows why they pull the "god card" out. It isn't very far when we have nothing to counter with. Just an empty well of a BB to yell into. Preach to the choir.
  18. Have Ling let them know if she doesn't get her IR, then somebody there's going to end up on the IR when hubby finds out.

  20. Ofcourse CR-1s are longest, because I am CR1. If I was K1, that would be the longest. I learned a long time ago, I was put on the planet to wait in line. Born to Wait. Wait Free or Die! Those are my mottos.
  21. Wow you guys are whooping through this process like a hot knife through butter. If you guys get caught in line behind me, you might want to think about waiting for another checkout counter. No matter what, my line is always the longest. (even if it's the shortest.) My wife told me there was a person on 001 that only took 5 months to get there visa. I said no way. I'm a believer now.
  22. Bahan, I'm the same as you man. My Lao Po didn't get any papers either. Only from me. FHTB, Welcome to the club. Don't be a wall flower. Great news.
  23. Technically it's not really a P3 anymore. LG gets the I-864 and you should fill out the DS-230. He gets copies of everything. The I-864 only needs to have LG's signature on page 6 signed infront of notary public. The DS-230 lags behind a few weeks. (About 6 weeks behind the I864) They also sent me 2 letters, one telling me they haven't recieved my DS-230 yet and anouther telling me I need to turn in my I-864. (They already recieved my I-864 and didn't send my DS-230 yet.) I checked with a couple others about it a few weeks ago and they agreed. If your concerned or have a question send them the e-mail. Better safe than sorry. A 2 day response is typical. Your on track. Probably wouldn't hurt to verify they have your correct address listed in Pin Yin. They get your address from the G-325A form.
