She was good to go and knew it so told them to get lost. Her words that is BS(this is first english word I taught her) you can do this yourself. She told me she did buy a women who approached her prior to getting her visa a bottle of water on the way out with visa in hand because she was very happy to get it. So 5 rmb was about all the money she spent on them.

Get the SSN ASAP do not even wait to marry at least she will have a number and as you know that does not change. If you wait to long they will not grant as visa has expired so if you marry right away should be no problem but if you are going to wait a month or so get the SSN right away. She shows he Visa and thats about it. We brought the birth cert. but they did not ask. had SS card in 2 weeks. Good luck

Welcome! They will get photos at interview always have about 8 available for them when she goes better safe then sorry some are used for the Visa. P3 no documents required she well bring all of them to the interview and probably will not ask to see them.. P3 is basically a check list telling them you have everything ready to go documents that is But you must have these documents available at the interview in GZ. ADIT photos are out full face passport type photos are in. Good luck

Well Bud I hope you are right!! However here is the way it has been in the past. When DHL ships they also send Diplomatic Pouchs in the shipment. These are generally delivered to the consolute almost immediatly. I would say the large package is a pile of Visa apps. and the small ones are the diplo pouch..If this is the case expect about a month delay on Clearance Delay(your papers are here) the first two of the lot that get released from DHL will be the Diplo Pouch may only be one also. We all heve gone thru this. Heres the facts GZ uses DHL office in GZ as a holding house until THEY are ready to pick up. Sorry if I burst your bubble.. I know my other brothers and sister here who have gone thruogh this will agree with my statements. You can call your Senator but by the time they get around to it GZ will pick up..You are about 6 to 8 weeks away from the P3 at this point. This topic has been brought up many times here.

Thats what I did one government agancy would not question another..LOL Make copies for you records send originals although once copied you can not really tell the differance as all are black and white Hey Carl we Know bud!! The 1040 can be notorized as a certified copy but notorize the W-2's instead as a certified copy. If you have a scanner print a page in word or whatever program and at the bottom of the page put a statement "This is a true copy of W-2 belonging to XXX XXX and then run your W2 through your scanner and set the page you typed the statement on in your printer and hit copy the W2 scans on that page and gives the notory a place to sign bring the original to the notory as proof. If you can do in color(if you have a color scanner) this is pretty impressive.. Mike

Rich Thats the one I use too!! Better safe then sorry. About $80.00 also has trip interruption and lost bag insurance etc.. Would not travel there without it.. You just never know.

Follow up Well we received a letter today 7/27 from SS. And they said they contacted CIS and would not issue a name change on her SS card as her visa has run out 90 day K-1.. So will have to file AOS to get new card with her married name on it. I guess if we had requested right after marring she would have gotten as we had about 30 days left on the Visa. Well at least she has a SSN and that was my main purpose to get her into insurance and the financial system. Bank of Amrica had no problem using her married name we brought our marrige cert with us, which they did ask to see. The biggest problem right now is explaining to her that all the credit card offers she is getting(to fill out apps) don't mean a thing..Hope this helps others..

No I did not go to GZ or LAX with her I had used up all my vacation time and needed to save time for when she arrived and to get married on soooo she did all herself.. She went through at LAX with no problem and told me there were Customs people there who spoke Chinese and it was no problem. You will see many post here on this topic and I have not heard of any issues going through LAX..

I can answer on the passport copy Just the front page with your photo and info needs to be copied.. Get it notorized as a true copy by a notory. Your husbands will be shown at interview so I do not think his will need to be copied.. Don't hold me to this as we went the K1 route. But the copy of your passport is OK. I also added copies of the China visas from the passport to show that I was there but this maybe different for you BUT what the heck if you getting the front page done why not do the visas as well just to have incase you need. All documents submitted to the embassy and CIS must have English traslation this is for sure,,

Well if you mean for yourself personally.. You are not allowed into the interview if this is a K1 Visa.. However I am not sure about the rest of the Visas I can only speak for K1. If you are asking what is needed for the P4 actually nothing that is just your appointment letter from the embassy stating time date of inteview. The P4 interview could be as much as a month away after receiving..maybe longer However if you are talking about all the documents needed there is a considerable list to bring for your fiance'.. If you go to the front of the site you will find most if not all of it under resources.. Some of the things to bring Chinese police record/divorce docs if married before/birth certificate/medical history of shots/pictures of you and her and her family together/proof of relationship, like e-mails letters etc./her Chinese Passport/ Face forward photos (unless that has changed since March and they went back to the ADIT i.e 3/4 face photo) I would bring 6 of these just to be safe. If she does not speak English very well get a 5 minute video of her speaking English they may or may not require this.. Your financial I believe thats the 485 form proof of your job work income /IRS statement for 3 years get as much as you can notorized thye say bring copies don't trust them depending on who you get they can ask for (may or may not happen) originals. Put everything into clear page seperators and a clear/opeac binder( Office Max /Avery) as no bags, mobile phones etc etc are allowed into the embassy so if clear they have no gripe. The list is long remember to allow enough time for her Med exam you can generally get that a few day before the interview date and the "hospital" will help you assemble the docs. Last I knew back in March 04 she needed the regular face forward and NOT the ADIT 3/4 face. Get about 6 of these to take with her.. AND you also need the together pictures as well just incase the VO asks to see. The face forward picture thing may have changed again someone will pitch in and tell you if I'm wrong. As far as I know NO picture of you is required at GZ. I am going by my experiance on this, the only time they wanted a Visa type photo of me was when we first applied and that was back in April 2003 and if I recall it was the 3/4 yet at that time. 3/4 changed and she was told to bring face forward and that is what is in her Visa in the Passport. Right Your right the K-1 is eleigable to work so SS issued with-in 90 days no problem.. However I am eager to see if they will do the name change since now married and still leave the not eligible to work, only with CIS approval on the card,, I do not see a reason not to change the name they already issued a number the rest is just a formality BUT knowig our friends at the GOV who the heck knows what they will do I will keep you all posted on this. My train of thought is, when filing the AOS to do the work permit at the same time.. However if they are going to issue the AOS within 6 months I will hold back on the work permit.. HOWEVER I have to go through Atlanta and am not sure of the time delay to AOS So this is something I have to dig up..My wife has asked me several times about getting a job she really does not need to but of course wants to send money to family in China..I told her I would give her the money but the response is "This is your money,not my money" Arn't Chinese ladies great!! Hi Gang We got Jings SS card within 3 or 4 days of her being here with the statement not authorized to work stamped on it. And followed the same route as you did passport etc no problem. Since we have married we proceeded to the office again with the same docs and the marriage license.. I also applied for a new card my was old and falling apart.. I got mine in about 1.5 weeks.. Still waitng on her's It was 2 weeks this past Monday.. I am eager the see what happens she already has a number this is just a name change due to marriage if I do not get by Friday I will make the call.. The person who handled this at the SS office never batted an eye.. Mike

I worked for a US company in Mexico thats how I got to China and met my now wife.. We set an office up in Schenzhen.. We had some of the Chinese guys come to US for training and I was the insructor they had to go to Mexico to our plant there soooo the MEX Gov does not appricate the competition that China offers in the way of work ethics and prices needless to say,, it was rather difficult to get the Chinese guys visa but it happped.. Keep in mind this was business based visa other then that it is from my understanding difficult to get the visa for a non resident Chinese person...

Make sure you send it Certified Mail Return Reciept or else they may say they never got it.. Also track your check once cashed it tells you when they began the process.. Luck

If you call NVC and ask about the day it was sent to GZ.. Once you have that they ship DHL Call them and give them the Day it was shipped and address of NVC in NH plus zip and they can tell you when it was picked up and the traking number once you have that go to the DHL site and put the number in and you should have all the info. It usually takes less then a week to get there via DHL..If they sent say 5 packages that day the consulate diplomatic pouches will be picked up right away you will see this in the tracking info 2 or 3 are picked up right away the rest are held there until GZ wants them ours took just under 30 days to be picked up. And then everything went pretty Fast P3 was a couple of weeks later and P4 two weeks after that. You are on the downside.. GOOD LUCK

Ditto: I have never been questioned about my return from China as long as you have the Visa to be there thats all they request to see.. So you could do a one way and buy one there. If worse came to worse. Try to by you tickets as refundable may charge you $100 to do this if you change your departure date on a round trip.
