  1. Thats exactlly what I did works fine.. Unless there are no ATM in the town she lives in.. That was my problem so now what?? Pay western union OK wire transfer about $45 or and here is the no brainer.. If you have a PayPal account you can get a VISA debit card in anybodies name added to your account. So then you can transfer from your bank account to your account and the SO can draw out even at the counter at the bank in town as the card is in his or her name. No credit check and it is free.
  2. You can usually get this expedited for a few more Yuan $$$. Frank is right if you do not have the Passport no visa..
  3. They asked her 5 questions Can you speak English( yes some a little,, but not very good) Exact answer. How did you meet How many times has he been to China Where does he live in US (What state) What does he do for a living(Whats his Job)
  4. I assume she is coming from China?? If so she needs to get her passport from the Chinese Government. My wifes took about 2 weeks to get and was around 35US and is good for 5 years. She must have her China passport before the interview. The GZ folks will place her US visa in her Chinese passport upon passing the interview usually the next day. The Visa is good for six months that means she must enter the USA before it expires in six months.
  5. The one or more in delay are probably your documents. Let me explain. When they ship documents to GZ usually there is a Diplomatic Pouch along with other packages these the Diplomatic Pouch are PRIORITY and are picked up right away. Your documents may sit for several days to 6 weeks take a look at my time line and you will get the idea.. Yeah we are not priority! GZ uses the DHL facility as a holding pen until THEY are ready to process/pick-up. DHL does update regularly so you can tell when it leaves. Mike
  6. Hey Mark!! Good to know you are still alive!! Hang in Bud,, been there got the T-Shirt Best Mike
  7. Mike, just in case you want to know about MSC/Atlanta/AOS take a look at http://candleforlove.com/forums/index....=14&t=6334&st=0 OK Thanks Frank,, your a big help!!! I did mean the NBC office but seems like MO. We will suffer through although we did already get the SSN about 1 week after here. That has made things eaiser for insurance and bank accounts. Once we get the EAD she will be able to get a learners permit..And change the name on her SS card to the married name and of course thats one more obstical out of the way.. But she is here and that is all that really is important.. She has been here 8 months come 11/20.
  8. Thanks Carl for your sympathy,, and con grats.. We just started the AoS in October and went last week for the Biometrics in Birmingham very quick for this for the EAD.. Jing was very pleased with the way she was treated and it took no longer then 15 minutes to get it done. Her words" she can not believe how nice everyone is there".. however this document still has to come from Atlanta or MO not sure so maybe 60 days before we see it. So next stop is Biometrics for AoS maybe two years. Yeah Atlanta,, but it seems we are dealing with the MO office that was at the bottom of the notice of action to respond to them if any issues so maybe our case got transfered there because of lower case load..?? Who the He** knows..But there ain't much they can do to us now...besides I own guns... Mike & Jing
  9. When you pay the Visa fee US government visa fee GZ will send you a list of banks this must be paid at this will be in your P4.. They/the bank will issue a reciept. The one they are talking about must have been outdated,This is the reciept you bring with you to the med exam. and will be enclosed in the brown evelope. In your P4 Package there shoud be a list of hospital/med centers that will do the exam and HAVE been approved by the consolate..I would follow their instruction/places THEY approve to the T. My LaPao interview was on Monday too. She got down there(GZ) on the Tuesday before walked in to the Bank got her reciept and then went to the hospital for exam and picked up all her papers on Saturady ready to go on Monday.
  10. Looks like your K-1 so No they do not keep anything at least from our interview experience.. They may look at it but will return.. They do keep the brown evelope however(take it at arrival port) that is mostly your SO's medical stuff.. My LaPao had all to do to show pictures,, they were not interrested and I got everything back..tax transcripts/birth certs etc etc.
  11. You'll love the security people at the airport there, with sub machine guns!! I was impressed.. English no problem!! No Visa needed(use to be a British colony) so very westernized..You can stay I believe for Ninety days on your passport.. You do need a VISA for China though. I'm sure you know that. You can also get a bus(these are the very modern double decker British type they drive on the wrong side of the road there) to Kawloon train station in the center of HK from the airport.. Bus has a display (LED board above driver)in Chinese and English that tells you each stop as you get to it. Kawloon is generally the last stop. Go into train station you will see people there in dark gray uniform they speak English and will escort you to the ticket counter and then show you to the train platform.. Very nice ride of about 45 minutes to Schenzhen.. At the last stop on the train Luwoo or Wuloo I always get reversed,, you cross into mainland China into Schenzen..Carry the phone number to all the different places you want to go to.. ALL Chinese taxi drivers have Cell phones(along with everyone else in China).. So even though you do not speak the langauge show the phone number they will call and take you to where ever you need to go. You can get a ride in Chinese cab which is a modern car(a little on the small side) for about $1.25/1.50 to just about anywhere.. However you can hire the driver to take you to GZ just ask. And negotiate a price if they say 500 ren min bi (the peoples money)offer 400 about 35.00 this is normal to negotiate for everthing I do not know ther current rate for taxi to go there but they are very competitive and it will be like your own privite driver. AND they do not understand TIPs. I have flow into HK on Cathay Pacific, sometime they run speacials. Keep in mind the Lunar New year is coming up in January and seats are tight as everyone wants to get home for the month long holiday..I believe my SO told me it is Feb 2 this coming year. Do not worry its real easy to get around get the phone numbers you need hotel etc most speak English in there too. Relax and enjoy the experiance you will be pleasantly surprised. China is very safe to travel in, in my many trips there never had or saw a problem.
  12. CONGRATS loved the photos-- NOW you can kick back put your feet up have a beer or whatever and think of those times on the Wall..
  13. Call the NVC and ask them when it was sent to GZ once you know the day contact DHL by phone and provide them with the pick up address zip This is NVC address etc and they can tell you how many packages they shipped and when. Use the tracking number to follow to GZ.. It may stay in LIMBO until GZ is ready to pick up.
  14. Yes the Brown envelope is from the hospital or medical center// The P4 is the package that has the letter of invitation to come to GZ for interview. In that packet they list the hospitals that are OK to use. When you get to one of the hospitals the Consulate recommends you show your letter of invitation and that starts the exam and finishes with everything in a brown envelope
  15. You should try to be a little more Happy!! I know how you feel.. CONGRATS
  16. No problem and No cell phones allowed either in the consulate.. As far as the clear stuff goes you can just carry in everything loose but with all we have to have its just easier to get something clear so you are not dropping papers all over.. Also they will cut the corner of your brown envelope at the hospital where the exam is given.. The purpose of that is to allow the guards to peek in and make sure it is safe to bring into the consulate.
  17. What kind of book or binder should we put all the stuff for the interview? For the petition I put everything in an open-at-the bottom binder with a top fastner. Is a display book ok? Make sure you use a clear envelope(plastic)or binder they will not let you in the Consulate with bags etc that are not see through,, this is a security issue and the guard will make you take everything out of the folder and you will have to carry in loose..
  18. My wife was divorced too.. once she got her single without marrying papers from the local notorial office in Chinese with English translation no problem they did not even ask during interview but she had with her just incase..Thats all you need
  19. After everything else Carl this is a piece of cake.. Let me know what happens ours is probably a year or so off,, you know Atlanta.. M
  20. WOW Bryan Man look at that time line seems like yesterday (right now) we were just starting this stuff and now the real dream comes true. best to you all,, Mike & Jing
  21. What service center did you go through??
  22. Well bud after many conversations here and seeing lots of changes and doing all this stuff, Now you can chill for awhile,,you will have many other interresting things to do.. Congrats,, now the fun begins..
  23. I believe you must first file your AOS and EAD if she wants to work at the same time file for AP, Time depends on what CIS office you are working with I have to use Atlanta and my understanding is about 90 days for AP.
