  1. My wife told me that her interview lasted for more than 15 minutes. The VO was Chinese and had some difficulty understanding my wife's English so changed to Chinese for half of the interview. Some additional questions were: 1. When did you marry your husband 2. When did husband come to China to visit you 3. What was her job 4. Where did she live 5. How did you meet your husband My wife says there are more questions and she will provide to me when she returns homeand can utilize her translator. Mike
  2. And especially the let down when she calls and tries her best to sound sad and whine like she didn't pass and then screams into the phone "I PASSED". Then the weight just floats off you shoulders. My wife couldn't keep this up for long there was just to much excitement. Our best wishes for you. Mike
  3. The signature should be in pinyin except for where it specifically ask for it in the native language. However my wife signed both pinyin and Chinese on the same line. I had sent her, by scanning into the computer and emailing to her, a signature guide to practice with.
  4. I just talked with my wife who told me some information regarding her interview yesterday. She said she was interviewed by an older woman that appeared to be Chinese. She began the interview in English and then changed to Chinese when my wife was not understanding some of the words. She answered the questions in English. She said she was asked many questions and provided these as only part of the interview,,, 1. Who applied for you? (She said another word was used instead of the the word applied) I think maybe the word was sponsor. Her answer was of course me. 2. What does husband do for work? Retired Policeman 3. When did he work as Policeman? Retired 1998 and worked for 27 years 4. Do you know your husband was divorced before? Yes 5. Age of husbands oldest and youngest child? XX and XX 6. Where does your husband live .................? Could not understand the rest of the question. (VO asked in Chinese and meant what State) Washington. There were other questions. I will get later. The VO asked to look at 2005 taxes, pictures, communication evidence which I had provided a screen print of our conversation logs from yahoo messenger and web cam shots (2 times every day) telephone bills and emails. She looked at pictures and the index of our relationship evidence, contained in the 25 manilla envelopes, my wife had with her. My wife handed the VO the index with her passport at the beginning of the interview. Hope this gives some insight for those having interviews in the future. I will post more later. Mike
  5. My wife is at the home of Mr Yang with Todd, tac of CFL, and his wife. I spoke with Todd on the phone. He said it will be about a week before he can get to a computer and ask me to pass along to everyone that their interview was also a successful one. PASSED!!!!!!!!! I am very happy that my wife could meet Todd and his wife. They are enjoying a meal together at the home of the owner of the Tian Yu Garden hotel. He says hello to all. Mike
  6. I just finished eating for the first time today. After you get the results it gets better but I can't sleep now. It is such a good feeling. You will feel the relief. Good luck!!!!!!!!!

  8. I was just on the phone with my wife and she told me that she passed the interview!!!!!!!!!!!!! . She has now become DORTHY and on her way to the real Emerald City, Seattle. I will head to China on October 5 and return with her on the 16th. We will celebrate our 1 year marriage anniversary in China with her family. I am just in tears now. She says she is very hungry and will call me later for interview information. Thanks to everyone with the help through this process here on the best site of all CFL Mike and Xiaolan
  9. I just spoke with my wife and she told me that Guangzhou has changed VO's. I do not know where she learned this whether from a friend or from reading 001. Just a heads up for everyone that the questions asked may gear to different direction.
  10. Well, it is finally here! My wife will leave for GUZ tomorrow for her interview on the 23rd. I am a total wreck and am sure it will only get worse before it gets better especially after she leaves for the emerald city to see the wizard. I can only imagine what she feels it has to be twice my feeling. Thanks to CFL members that post their interview questions as this is important to see the trends. I have asked her to remember the questions and will post as soon as possible afterwards as well as the results of the interview. She is prepared but worries she will not understand because of a different tone in the voice of the VO than mine. I tell her to listen carefully and ask the VO to speak slowly if necessary. But,, She still worries. I think she will do wonderful. I can't be there because of a work problem. Tac good luck on your interview the same day. Dont know if you can pick out my wife or not. She will be 5'2, 110 pounds, brown eyes, black hair, Chinese in appearance, and carrying a kitchen sink full of manilla envelopes!!!!!!! Boy does that sound familiar for any day in GUZ at the counsulate building??? She will be staying at one of the hotels in the consulate building and they have assurred me they will make her comfortable. I have sent her flowers and balloons to be delivered to the hotel as it is her birthday. Hopefully this will reassure her but nothing like if I could be there but she understands and does have friends to see when she is there but am sure she will be going back over papers again and again and again. I am totally amazed at what she has learned over the past few days from 001, reading the papers I sent, and practicing interview questions, etc. Good luck to all that remain this month and from here on. Signing off until after.
  11. A little information for those that are looking for better ways to get money to their SO, SAFE AND RELIABLE and very little fee. Western Union charges like $15 I think. I got a paypal debit card with a Mastcard logo. I can transfer money to it from my bank account free and my wife can use it at any ATM in China for only $1.50 transaction fee from paypal. There are no other fees or interest charged as it is actually a debit card. It can be used as a credit card with discount or cash back when used as credit. The money maintained in the account earns 5.2% as savings which is better than any savings account or CREDIT CARD! It takes about 3-4 days to transfer money to the card from your bank so you have to anticipate the need or make regular transfers. This card can be obtained at paypal.com. Most places my wife uses the card requires her passport and she has signed the card in both English and Chinese
  12. I have sent my wife a debit card and a credit card she has had no problem using both. You should not have activated it until you knew he had it in his possession. Anyway that under the bridge, you might have to contact your credit card issuing bank and inform them where the card will be used as they might not approve purchases in a foreign country unless you inform them the card is there. However, I would wait until your SO tells you he has received it to call your credit card company to inform them !!!!!!
  13. Look on internet for the County Government site you were married in or even lived in you might be able to obtain information from a web site there. That is how I found information on ex.
  14. I wish I was going to be there, for sure, BUT,,,,,,,a new job keeps me in the USA!!! I have bought my ticket to travel in early October to return to the USA with my wife in the middle of October. Her interview is scheduled on 8/23. This is the worst of it now. I don't forsee any problems but the anxiety is definatly tremendous. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tac wish I could be there to meet you and your Laopo.
  15. YUP!!!!!! Here we are the month of August already. We are scheduled 8/23. Scariest 3 weeks ahead of my life. We are practicing interview questions every day and doing a very good job. BUT,,, you just never know what will be asked. I have instructed my wife to set the labeled envelopes of supporting documents where they can be seen and provide the VO with an index list with her passport. Hope this can help. There are 7 pounds of documents. Pink is what I pray for every moment I can. To all of those interviewing this month I wish only the best!!!!!!!!
  16. My wife learned English by going to the public library and took a class. Bookwork mainly. She wanted to take a conversational English class but we decided against it because we talk regurlarly 2 times a day on Yahoo messenger and she uses her electronic dictionary to help. She can read English remarkably well but the meaning of the words is where I come into play as well as the dictionary. She is speaking very good English in my opinion now but in hers she says " I can not speak much English or I don't know how to translate into English" Then she will double up in laughter. We have so much fun with words. Of course she laughs a lot more at my Chinese attempts.
