  1. OK my wife is in the USA!!!!!! We arrived last Monday. What a joy it is to be together instead of talking on Yahoo messenger. Last night while eating a wonderful homemade Chinese dinner she told me we do not need to have Lawyer for her to get the greencard and for me to ask on Candleforlove where to begin. She is a little confussed on CR1 and AOS. I tried to explain but didn't get far. SOOOOOOOOOO, I am asking. I already have her ITIN number but think from reading past posts the place to start is the SS# and EAD. Any help at all will be appreciated.
  2. In my original post on this I suggested the book as a good read. Most relationships go through a IN LOVE EXPERIENCE where yes these things are practiced in every way. However the author states that this IN LOVE EXPERIENCE lasts for about 2 years and then most, not all, begin to take things for granted or forget what is most important to their SO. This book has not helped me in my marriage as of yet, as I well begin to be with my wife on a regular basis only in mid October. I will go to China and bring her back to the USA. Our IN LOVE EXPERIENCE is merely words at this point although we have been together and experienced it full force and it will continue when we are together, at last. I just want to be prepared for the taking for granted time and be aware of it. Again the book was a good read, for me, maybe not for you, and I still suggest it to anyone that might be interested in heading off that taking for granted time that wears on a relationship, no matter how committed or trusting the couple is. I read where one member ordered the book along with another book by the same author. I hope after he reads he will put in his opinion.
  3. My wife was born in a small town and at home. There was never a certificate of birth issued. All she produced was a notorial statement stating where and when she was born, who her parents are. She got this Notarial statement done and translated into English at the PSB in Shenzhen. Very plain and simple only like 3 lines it was bound in the normal thick shinny white booklet. It also had her current picture attached to it. It worked fine for us when we filed the paperwork here through the USA. Never questioned. Mike
  4. IF you read the book you will discover that all 5 points are important but each person has a PRIMARY love language, 1 of the 5 listed (some but few have 2 that are equal). If this 1 primary love language is not fulfilled, to its fullest, the rest will NOT matter. The primary love language can usually be uncovered by what the SO requests of you the most. Listen and watch carefully to learn their language and fulfill it because if their love language is not fulfilled the will not respond to you in a committed way. And, Yes and don't forget the others. The author mentions that this is even true where there is a verbal language barrior. It's not enough to just figure out which is your SO's primary. All 5 of these are basic indicators of a loving (intimate) relationship. So, you shouldn't only focus on one. Also, if you've had previous failed relationships, be honest with yourself and do an inventory of which items you handled "poorly"...and improve. The concept goes both ways...is your SO actively engaged in the relationship? Does she contribute in the 5 areas?
  5. The object here is for you to read the book not me read for you. Trust me it is informative reading material and worth the effort. If you give it a try and it works for you. It may take some time figuring out the primary language you SO speaks but once you find it and practice it the books seems to reveal the benefits would be tremendous. I will find out very soon!!
  6. I am not sure wich edition I have I left it at work because I read it at down times. I am going through it a second time it is not the Men's Edition. I will have the edition later today. It discusses the Five Languages of Love and how to recognize which language you are and which your SO is. It gives great insite into how to fill your SO's heart with a feeling of Love by speaking her Love Language. The Five languages mentioned are: 1 Words of affirmation 2 Acts of service 3 Receiving gifts 4 Quality time 5 Touch Figure out which is your SO's primary and she will respond and feel in her heart your love for her. Find out your own love language and discuss with her if she does not already know. Mike
  7. An Asian woman gave me a book the other day as she knows my wife is coming very soon. She told me she and her American husband read the book and it does help keep love strong. I have read it from beginning to end. Wonderful book and I suggest it to everyone especially us that have been through LOVE before and are starting a new life with someone of a different culture. The name of the book is "The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapman. It teaches how to find your SO's Love Language that will keep Love high in the future. I have read many posts hear of problems that occur because of misunderstandings and I think this book can help. Many of you have even responded to problems posted with similar tactics described in this book. I plan on reading it again and eventually read it with my wife when her English skills become more proficient. I suggest that everyone take some time and read this book and try practicing some of the ideas. See if they help bridge the barriors of different culture and language. Mike
  8. I hope they ask me this. I will show them the cost of my round trip ticket and then the cost of the one way ticket for my wife and ask for a refund plus the return trip part of the ticket.
  9. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the interview and the smoking. I will be doing the same!!!!!!
  10. My wife sent in a self addressed EMS waybill with her P3 and GUZ did not use it. They used one of their own. We kept trying to track the self address one and the P4 showed up with GUZ filled in form. It doesn't work in all cases!!! But we thought it was a wise idea and tried it just didn't happen with us.
  11. Warped, You have it wrong I will be traveling to SeaTac with her. Will they allow me to stay with her during the immigration period down stairs? Mike
  12. Thanks Tac I will tell her. I told her you picked up your visa and returned to Shanghai. She was very happy. She enjoyed your company while she was there and I thank you for putting the effort in! Hopefully it removed some stress level from both wifes. Lee, you and Mama Bear were the first people I talked to on CFL and you helped me get logged in. I already know every market in Seattle as I have some very good friends that go to Seattle and other area markets as well as Chinese Dr. Yes spending time together is very important and something I long for. My wife has my upmost respect for what she has gone through, accomplished and that she is leaving behind her life to start a new one in the USA with me. Attentive and loving I will be. This wonderful lady is my life!!! This next 6 weeks will be the longest ever but with what I want to accomplish before I go to China hopefully will make it go by fast. Mike

  15. My wife just called me and said she received her visa in the mail today. I am just so excited. I reserved a ticket last week for her because there were only 3 seats left on the plane I was returning from China on. It just so happened that on each leg of the flight the seat next to me was open. I have to pay for the ticket now. LOL what do I do next !!!!!!!!!!!! Have to move this week too!!!!!!!!!
  16. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! Hoping my wife gets hers in the mail today. She used EMS to get it sent to her home.
  17. AGAIN CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. She told me she injoyed meeting you too. Did you pick up the visa yet? I am still waiting the phone call for my wife to inform me it is in her hand so I can buy the ticket this weekend. Such luck I had with 4 seats still available I reserved her ticket and arranged seats for to sit next to me. Amazing like someone knew to hold that seat. She has already told me we must go to Maine to visit.
  19. My wife is IMO an incredible woman. Smart as well as beautiful. She told me she was very worried in the beginning because she was at window 29. I guess she read that window 29 is very commonly issued blue slip. She said the VO was a very old Chinese woman who did not smile or say hello. She said so I did not smile at her or say hello. You have to understand that my wife at a young 41 thinks she is an old woman and if she said the VO was very old she must be ancient. But she laughed last night with me about it and said she had a lot to do before I arrive in October. I ask her what and she laughed and said I have a lot of clothes and must get them ready. I Love This Woman!!!!!!!!!! Mike
