  1. We must be a very lucky couple. In just over a year after receiving the initial green card, we have just been notified that our 10 year green card has been approved. We must be doing something right. I see so many poor couples waiting and waiting and waiting. It has been a very smooth and fast process for us. I wish it could be the same for all. Good luck and God speed.
  2. Michael... The last thing you should be worrying about is an engagement ring. You need to worry about all that damned paper work and insure you dot your 'i's" and cross your "t's". An engagement ring won't do you much good if you can't get past the interview. As a side note. I had my wife buy a cheap ring in China for show. It was most certainly changed when she arrived in the US and we were married.
  3. Hey Tony. Add Sherry and Gary to that list. We also received the green card without an AOS interview.
  4. Congratulations. Have a very Merry Christmas. What a great Christmas present!!!
  5. I can't promise your AOS or EAD will process as fast as ours, but we also received an RFE when our I-485 was submitted. We submitted the information the day after we received the RFE letter. Within 2 weeks, we were advised our case was transferred to California. We are hoping to have Green Cards without an AOS interview by December, which is just 2 months after they were forwarded to California. This may be wishful thinking on our part, but we can dream. My wife and I will return to China in 3 years for a visit, but so far she hasn't become homesick. First comes the Green Card, then comes the job, then plan on vacation.
  6. We are also from Florida and our I-485 is being processed in California. We have our fingers crossed on a no AOS interview Green Card.
  7. Congratulations. We are in the waiting process and know what you went through.
  8. My wife had the usual physical for her visa and I don't think she was tested for TB. Recently she wanted to join a group of volunteers at the local hospital and had to have a TB test. Her results were positive. I did research and found there are 2 types of TB. One being inactive and one being active. In both cases they recommend antibiotics. The reason being the inactive TB can turn in to active TB and thus become contagious. The active TB is contagious and the inactive TB is not contagious. Go to http://www.mayoclinic.com and do a search for TB. We go for a follow up test next week and are hoping this was a false positive.
  9. Thanks for the encouraging news David. My wife is jumping up and down as we speak.
  10. We submitted our I-485, went for our biometrics in West Palm Beach Florida, received a RFE for a sponsor letter and another copy of my tax returns. Now we get a letter stating our paperwork has been forwarded to California for faster processing? Can anyone tell me what this means? Does it mean we won't have an AOS interview or does it mean we wait until California approves our I-485 then forwards it back to West Palm Beach? Thanks
  11. If I understand this correctly, your wife hasn't been granted an AOS interview, thus she doesn't have a green card. Charging and proving abuse is going to be difficult unless she has police records. I personally think she will have to return to China since you are her sponsor.
  12. Hi Paula. We had the same problem between Guz and DOS. What we discovered is GUZ is a paid service and isn't always correct with their answers. For instance, one morning my wife called Guz and was told our background check was still in progress. I called DOS that same day and was told our paperwork was completely finished and was awaiting an interview date. Just try to have patience, but please stop paying GUZ for incorrect answers.
  13. We received my wife's SSN and are still waiting on the EAD and AOS interview. I would suggest apply for SSN then send in the paperwork for EAD and AOS. This may not apply in different areas of the US for some reason. I have read of some people that were not granted their SSN immediately. Since this is a federal service it makes no sense why one SS agency would grant a SSN and another won't.
  14. It is surprising MSNBC is publishing this story. This has been going on for years and will continue to happen on occassion. I seriously doubt it is a major problem compared to the illegal immigrants. Do you really think we have 20-30 million ladies here illegally? I don't condone anything illegal, but these kinds of stories puts pressure on the consulates to take more time and slow down the process for the legal immigrants. Thank god I have my lady with me now, but I feel for you who are still in the process. Lets hope this story isn't being distributed to China.
  15. Congratulations. Its good to hear good news for a change. Best of wishes for a long and happy marriage.
