  1. SO and I have been communicating. Amicably. She is determined that she must live indepenently regardless of outcome. She still wants to be married but separate. The notice of approval of her green card arrived today. My goal is to keep breathing on a regular basis and to conduct myself with integrity. I do not think that she will allege abuse and she has made no effort to create any financial havoc. I do not know what the future will bring. Life is certainly full of interesting challenges. I certainly do not have to worry about my life being boring.
  2. I do not know if SO will allege abuse. I contacted USCIS today and asked the question without giving names etc. I was told that upon my notification to the local office she loses her status. She has not yet recieved green card. I do not know if she will go underground or what she will do. I feel really powerless and helpless and I am very concerned about her and her daughter. There is also nothing that I can do except to take care of myself the best that I can.
  3. To clarify--we passed the interview with DHS in July--she has not received green card because of the name check. There is no abuse--difficult verbals as two very stubborn scoripos try to figure out how to live together.
  4. My So passed the immigration interview in July but has not yet received green card. Awaiting name check. When I cam e home from work today she and her daughter and all of there stuff was disappeared. I would guess some serious planning involved and assistance from someone.
  5. My so arrived 12/3/05--we married 12/30/05. She is unhappy and wants to move out of the house. I have many emotions about all of this --for another time. I am curious about the pragmatic matter of what happens to her immigration status. Any feedback is appreciated.
  6. My spouse and very smart new daughter went to aptment with Civil Surgeon today. I was prepared for them to verify the immunizations take some money and send us on our way. They told us that all immigrants must have complete physical and that is scheduled one month out. This information is counter to what is on the USCIS site: # Ks: If you were admitted to the United States as a fiance(e) (K-1), child of a fiance(e) (K-2), Spouse of a U.S. citizen (K-3), or child of K-3 (K-4), and received a medical examination prior to admission, then you do not require another medical examination as long as your application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. You will, however, be required to submit a vaccination supplement with our adjustment of status application. The vaccination supplement must be completed by a designated civil surgeon. I am curious if others have had this problem and suggesstions that will not land me in jail. Thanks
  7. My honey has arrived. She landed in Boston at 6:33 am on Saturday December 3. There was great rejoicing and and joy. We went to a wonderful Gospel concert on her first night and today (December 4) she met the Governor of the State of Maine and had her photo taken with him. She was originally quite fearful of my two greyhounds but now they are all great friends. My honey even likes my cooking. I think that tomorrow I will start moving most of my clothes out to the garage as suddenly there is no room in the bedroom for them.
  8. What is the best way for SO to bring her savings to US
  9. We are trying to ship only 100-150 pounds of personal belongings. I checked with UPS and DHL. The sticker shock was, well shocking. We will look at sending it via Chinese Postal or as excess baggage on her flight. I can only imagine that this is an issue that many of us have had to deal with. I am surprised that there is so little information out there. BTW--my soon to be boss received her visa on Oct 29. The Consulate put both her visa and her daughter's visa in one packet. We sent it back to have them separate as the daughter will follow to join in January. The consulate received to packet on November 7 and has not yet been able to open the envelope and separate the contents. I have once again enlisted the assistance of Senator Susan Collins office. I will update as more is known.
  10. It is fortunately getting close to the time when my SO will be arriving in Maine to take over command of the household. We are trying to figure out the best way to send her possessions to US. She has primarily books and clothes and such. No furniture or big items. Sending a piano was debated but she decided that it was too expensive. I have explored DHL and UPS both of which are extraordinarily expensive. There is the possibility of sending them via Chinese Post office or excess weight on the flight over. I am curious what others have done and suggestions on easiest, cheapest, safest modes of transport for boxes of worldly possessoins. Thanks
  11. My SO will be coming to US soon. Her daughter will be arriving in January (K1,K2). Can their immunizations be completed in China and presented in US at the appropriate time. K2 will need immunizations prior to starting school. If they can be done in China can they be done at any clinic? thanks Lymeboy
  12. MY so had her interview and was approved. I do not know any of the details except that she will pick up her visa on the 29th. She should be arriving in Portland, Maine on November 8. YEEHA and YIKES My SO (the one who must be obeyed so that I can be happy so that she can be happy) reports that the Visa officer was very friendly--he mentioned that his wife was from Maine and he wished her well. He said something about Maine being very cold in the winter and she reported back to him that we had very heavy snowfall last year. He did not ask to see any of the documents that she brought.
  13. My SO has her interview at GUZ on October 27. Her 16 year old daughter would like to finish her school year before leaving China. We are trying to figure out how to orchestrate that in a way that does not require the daughter to make a separate trip to GUZ for visa approval. I wonder if we can request, before the interview, that the daughter be granted an extension to that she can finish her school year. I am curious about how others have dealt with bringing step children to the US particularly regarding end of school year issues and the 6 month window of opportunity.
  14. my fiance has emailed GUZ to ask them to resend P4. In the meantime she is fillout in the forms that she has access to on the internet. Her daughter would like to finish her school year in China which would put her past the 6 month time period. I know that none of the parties involved would want her daughter to go to GUZ alone. I have tried to find specific references for K2 issues but I have not been able to find any. Can anyone direct me to specific K2 guidelines. thanks
  15. I found out through calling DOS that my fiance has an interview on October 27. She has not yet received P4. She sent an email requesting that another packet be sent to her and in the meantime is filling out the forms vis download. Is there anything else that we should be doing. DOS told me that there is no tracking number that they know of. Her 16 year old daughter is planning on following her mother to US after she finishes this school year. My reading suggests that the daughter can follow the mother within a year with no problems. Is this correct? Is the plan to follow straight forward or are there pitfalls to avoid? Will the daughter have to go to GUZ for interview prior to leaving China. also I do not know how to post timeline on this forum 197 days from P1 to interview thanks for your input.
