4. Thank you all for answering my question. We'll wait for the RFE as suggested and if the RFE didn't come, we'll just take hand it over during the interview. Thanks again. Chris
5. My wife recently completed her medical exam and immunization shots from a local Civil Surgeon. We would like to include these new records with our existing AOS package, which is probably sitting on a government desk somewhere. Where do we send them? Or is it safer to wait till they ask for them? That way, we know for sure we are sending to the right place? Thanks. Chris
6. My wife came to the U.S. on a K1 Visa back in September 2006. We applied for and received a SSN card for her in November. We got married in December. We subsequently mailed the AOS package in January 2007. Now I don't know if I can use her SSN for "married filing jointly" since the I-94 already expired. If it is ok to use her SSN, do I need to include anything else with the tax returns, perhaps a marriage certificate? Thanks. Chris
7. Dose anyone have experience with a good Civil Surgeon in the Southern California area? Thanks. Chris & Xiaoxia
8. Woot! hoo! Congratz! Looks like there's light at the end of the tunnel after all. Best wishes to you both.
9. DragonFan, We had your exact problem two months ago. The customs officer at the port of entry also kept our I-94 and Xiaoxia¡¯ passport did not show any staple marks. Here's my previous thread We were able to obtain a new I-94 in a relatively short time and without paying a fee. Here is how we did it: We made an Infopass appointment online to speak with an Immigration officer in our local area. We explained to the officer about our situation and showed that there were no staple marks on Xiaoxia¡¯s passport. He referred us to another local agency and gave us a referral form which he placed a checkmark next to "Deferred Inspections". We went to the referred agency's address at the Los Angeles downtown office (300 N. Los Angeles St. Room 1001, Los Angeles, CA 90012) with the referral form. The office was staffed by Border Patrol agents. While waiting in line, we overheard three other people with missing I-94 as well. We were given a new I-94 form and after we completed the form, the officer stapled the new I-94 to Xiaoxia's passport. We didn¡¯t have to pay a fee. As far as we know, none of the other three had to pay a fee either. Hope this helps. Good luck, Chris & Xiaoxia
10. I have just made an InfoPass appointment. Looks like we will have to apply for a new I-94. But it¡¯s no big deal. The I-94 is nowhere to be found. We are very positive the immigration officer didn't give us the I-94. No matter how many times we said that, it doesn¡¯t matter dose it? Most people will assume we lost it. Anyway, thanks for your help. Chris
11. Thanks for your responses? Ouch. $160 fee! We are very positive we weren't given an I-94 at the LAX POE. Has anyone gone through this before where they weren't given an I-94 at the POE? Should I go back to the LAX POE and ask for it? Chris
12. We made it safely back to the U.S. These past few weeks seemed like a blur as we drove all over town apartment hunting and finally moving into our new place. All the while we are having a blast enjoying our new life together. On Halloween we went trick-or-treating with my 8 and 10-year old nephews. Xiaoxia was amazed by the beautiful decorations and the abundance of free candies Yesterday, we tried to apply for Xiaoxia's SSN at a local SSA office but were turned down because she didn't have an I-94. The administrator told us the I-94 should have been attached to the passport by the immigration officer at the LAX's POE. No I-94 was attached to Xiaoxia's passport. We don't remember receiving anything back from the immigration officer except her passport. What should we do now? Thanks. Chris & Xiaoxia
13. The answer came from someone on the American (Dis)Service Side of the consulate, not the Immigration Visa Unit. This was cleared up by USCONGUZ in I-134 Notarization Issue Dear CFL, Per the instructions on the I-134 form, it still needs to be notarized. Original, notarized I-134 forms are required for each and every K1 or K3 visa beneficiary. We've reminded our officers of this guidance; thanks for bringing it to our attention. Our ACS unit would be happy to notarize an I-134 form for you if you so request. Please note that the requirements for the recently updated I-864 family of forms (I-864, I-864A, I-864EZ) are different. One big recent change is that notarizations for I-864-type forms is no longer required. For more detailed information, please see the instructions on the new I-864 forms at www.uscis.gov. Sincerely, USCONGUZ 234965 236592 Thanks Lee for clearing this up for us. I followed you guys' advice and got the I-134 notarized anyway, just to be safe. It was free at the Consulate's office. But after all these trouble, the interviewer didn't even ask for it Chris
