  2. Hello Goerge, Congratulations! From your timeline, (march 10, 2009- medical check up and vaccinations in taishan city), it looks your wife did her medical check up and vaccinations in taishan city, is taishan one of the designated hospital? I saw it only has the designated hospital in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Fujiang and Zhejing. IS there any designated Hospital in Shandong Province? Thank you so much! hailong, things have changed so places like taishan and jiangmen are not accepted by GUZ. here is the link, http://travel.state.gov/pdf/medical/GUZ-ME...T-0002-0906.pdf, for offical places, its the same that you have listed.
  3. yes, old news but not new either. i know 2 women who are in their late 40s and now both are married to american husbands living in cali. they see rich men as a way out of poverty.
  4. the dowry is a chinese tradition that dates back thousand of years and its not going away any time soon. lucky for us, time has change during the years and so has the dowry. today's dowry amount is decided by both sides of the family most of the times. dowry has many meanings; respect to the bride's parents, thank you for bringing up my wife, dowry equals sincerity. the dowry money will be use by the bride's family to clean house, ancestor worships, wedding cookies, and pre-engaement party. part of the dowry also goes back to the groom, in form of a belt, wallet, and chopsticks. every regions and families are different, so beware. my dowry list to her family. 888 dollars to family 200 dollars for bride's cookie to pass out 1 pig 9 chickens 9 fishes 1 case of XO her dowry list to my family chopsticks bowls blankets pillows bedsheets belt wallet my dowry cost around 1500 us dollars, not expensive but not cheap. a friend of mine is a doctor so his dowry was 10000 dollars, but he can afford it. even if you do not give a dowry, you still have to pay to her family around chinese holidays, for the rest of your life. we marry a chinese girl so expect all other stuff comes with it. good luck.

  11. Not to stray off topic, but I never understood how my wife could be so penny consoius, but then be perfectly willing to drop 2 grand on a LV hand bag. that goes the same for my wife, she is so so so cheap on tips but she just brought a LV bag yesterday for 1g. my pocket is burning like hell.

  15. my wife was first come first serve. she used one of the medical offices listed on GZ approved list. i forgot but its near her home in toishan. the list provides numbers so you can call if they take appointment or not. i think she took the vacinations too in toishan.
  16. i'm sure she can find many adult english schools in a big city. my wife went to an adult english school for 1 year while waiting for the visa process. she attended school monday to friday, 9am to 11:30pm, break for lunch and continues from 2pm to 5pm. the teachers are chinese and 2 days per week, a non-chinese teacher would teach the class. my wife had a teacher from england and i do detect a hint of england accent when she speaks english to me. the inteview was in 100% chinese in GZ, so no fear my brother. she is taking ESL classes now in nyc, hopefully moving forward to community college then to a 4 year college.
  17. ab lincoln is my 1st choice because he held the union together and other stuffs. jfk would be my runner up because he stared down russia on the cuban missile. i like to throw a side note on this presidents topic. before george washington, john hanson is considered first president of the usa by many people. he was president of the congress. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hanson
