  1. congratulations Bob and Nicole so very happy for you mark
  2. this is not a time to be timid. we need everyone to step up. The process in China needs to be fixed. So come on and send the signature page to trigg. I am right in the middle of this process but only by shouting with one voice can we make a change. I wrote a letter to the dos about the nvc process and potential improvements, lurking will not change anything. Sooner or later the press will maybe get involved, something they do not desire or want. So lets join together for a change and help ourselves and those behind us. Thanks to all who have stepped up, but we need everyone to get involved......by the people for the people. Mark
  3. congrats, nwa has some great fares right now to asia for example one way sfo to shanghai 289$ good luck mark
  4. hi Alex I think you did the right thing. There is no excuse for this kind of treatment, for the people and by the people. I am sure that this will work itself out, keep with the facts and though it is hard try to keep the emotion out of it. I and my wife are praying that everything will work out and you will come out of it soon. Your experience has really moved me and i have written a letter to the nvc about the whole inefficiency of the process. Wishing you the best. mark and dannie
  5. Chna passed a new war law if taiwan secedes. Hope this will settle down http://www.itv.com/news/world_1758690.html mark
  6. We should add some other gripes. Specifically about the NVC process. Why is it that we have to wait for a bill for the 864, then pay the bill, then wait for the form, then wait for the IV bill, then wait for the 230, then wait again in GUZ? Why can't they do it all on line, pay the bills with a credit card, fill it out all at one time. Sheez we could shave off 2 to 3 months! The process is broken and please fix it. I am just venting!
  7. yes that is correct same as my tracking for 864 bill mark
  8. LOL Trigg I love it! I would use a bullet style for your points and an offer in the letter to provide more detailed information. This lady is probably over tasked and needs to be able to read the main points quiclky. She can then ask for more info or she will task someone to look into these problem areas. Just my opinion but have done these type of letters and presentations before for gov types. Mark
  9. okay here are the timelines for us cr1's if i made any mistakes let me know i will put this into an excell sheet later.....update when you can sorry this isn't the best format mark CFL Member I30 NOA2 P3 (I230) P4 rcvd Interview rcvd James ----- ------- ------ ------ Markndannie 2/1/05 ------- ------ ----- Chinesewife 8/31/04 2/7/05 ------ ---- Jay 1/9/05 ------ ------ ----- Jgriers 6/30/04 10/6/04 ------ ------ bobandnicole(dcf) --------- 10/11/04 1/28/05 3/17/05 Menqxin 10/05/04 2/07/05 Ghostrider 1/4/05 3/6/05 Lourose (dcf) 12/13/04 1/11/05 Juan95 ------- 11/9/04 Bahan 8/3/04 11/21/04 Songdajiang 12/10/04 -------- JT832 12/21/04 ------ CARL 1/8/05 ------- AGM ------------ ------------ goneflying 2/18/05 ----------- eeyore 12/9/04 --------- mlspy1 11/03/04 2/16/05 Beijingjenny(dcf) 8/14/04 9/6/04 2/15/05 3/23/05
  10. instead of unspeakable I would suggest unbearble or tremendous. Maybe purgatory instead of Black hole, and i would not say deportation...maybe expatriation? I will consider signing mark
  11. Seems to be alot of us going the CR1 route. We don't really get a P3 as in the K1. So what form received/sent means received P3? Would be nice if we could all use the same P3 identification so we can track it. Maybe post your timelines. mark
  12. i also have a similar experience. I called NVC this friday and the lady said that my wife could just make a statement and sign it then post to the NVC. I scanned it with my mailing info and emailed it to her. She will express it on monday (China time). I am expecting my 864 this week. Thanks for the heads up on the IRS forms. The lady also said sending in last 3 years (2003) was okay. I have read other posts that the I230 part 1 should be from NVC not a copy. Mark
  13. jtaylo, I looked into the english teaching once, they will get you a visa also, as you are not married you can only get a tourist visa and will have to renew it until you have to go home. There are many teaching jobs available pay is around 5 or 6 RMB but they provide the airfare and an apartment, just do a web search on jobs in china. There are also some forums you should check out as there are some unscrupulous head hunters out there. Good luck. I will be returning to China in May to wait for my wifes visa. And yes face is very important for your SO. Mark
  14. congrats Jason and Joanna, Glad to hear that, mine was right at 90 from CSC. I hope everything goes smoothly for all of us Californios. mark
  15. I have been checking on the status of my case all week, still says the same as it did in november. Went to check my mail and lo and behold I got the NOA2 approval for the I 130. So much for email notification! . Now wait for the rest of the paperwork. Hate these baby steps. Mark
  16. I saw it and it was pretty bad, typical of the industry. There is also a story here about the mail order bride industry. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6884657/site/n...sweek/?GT1=6190 Maybe some day they will do a story about meeting the love of your life on the internet, and not associate it with the mail order bride industry. I know that China CCTV has had some stories about it. Mark
  17. My Lao puo and I were talking about this thread. She told me that this is a tradition. She also said that in some provinces it is observed more than others. Of course the money goes to buying "stuffs" for the new bride, which should be driven around town and then taken to the husbands home. Also there is a tradition of giving money to the wifes brothers and sisters which in turn is used for presents to the bride, but all in all it is "face" that may be the most important. My wife told me many parents will save for a long time to provide the son with the money to give to the new mother in law, she said this amount in the richer provinces is not unusual. Good luck! mark
  18. i got into a discussion with my wife recently, about food and the refrigerator. I told her that i was boiling some eggs to take with me for work in a few days. She said why do that job now? Told her that i would put them in the fridge. She said "oh no honey they will have much sperms" HUH?? Oh you mean germs? Yes she said. I t will be no good if you put them in the refrigerator over night. The we talked about American food, canned, microwave, packaged and frozen. Honey don't eat that it is no good, bad for you. LOL so i guess it is okay to store beer in there. Absolutely no frozen meat. My wife will eat only fresh...it should be alive first, chicken, duck or fish. I guess i better start raising the fresh stuff now. Any other stories you can share about this? I would eat some cheetos now but they have to much sugar!!!!
  19. Hi all, just got an email from NWA, they are advertising really low fares to asia purchase by jan 25 for travel through mar 15. mark
  20. Congratulations Jason and Jun!!!! I am so jealous, now your real life together begins. Best of luck to you both.
  21. What city in Northern Ca.? if I may ask. Lived in the Fairfield/Vallejo area for 30+ years. I live in the Sierras north of Fresno near Yosemite park. The corn bread sounds great. I also bring plenty of splenda! mark
  22. great news Bruce, thanks for your work in this difficult time. I will be waiting for more info! mark
  23. Yessss I missed popcorn so much while I was there. Couldn't find any unsweetened (i am diabetic) so I bought a pan and some bulk popcorn. Taught my Laopou how to cook it. She loved it, but no butter (city is too small and no foreigners). Now i bring butter with me and the butter seasoning too. Now all i have to do is teach her that you do not need to eat it with chopsticks!
