On step 8 of scheduling the pickup for Citic bank, using the travel docs website... When I'm entering the ID number sent to me from Guangzhou after our i-130, the website pops up with a message saying "The Case ID that you have entered cannot be found" I emailed the support at usatraveldocs dot com email address they leave for troubleshooting, and i got a semi-automated reply back. It appears they tried to do something - "We understand that you would like to schedule your interview appointment. Please note that your Case ID has been reactivated. Please type the Case ID in step 8 manually if needed, or refresh the web page in Step 8 of the scheduling procedures." However when trying again, I still get the same stinkin' ole error. Whatever they did didn't work. HOW on earth did everybody else get past this whole ID case number problem when scheduling a pickup with Citic? Not going to say "nightmare" just yet but right now it's definitely more like a pain in the neck... ---------------------------------------------- *edit* I noticed that on the left side of the screen, it says "First Available Appointment Is Tuesday October 10, 2017. " Does that mean I have to wait until that date, until I can schedule the passport/ DS-260/ passport copies/ 2 photos/ cover letter package pickup?

CGI old confirmation code problem
jeffzhang8716 posted a topic in Consulate Process: P-3 ~ Interview
Hello, I submitted the DS-260 online and get the confirmation code. Then I registered myself on the cgi website for contact info and pick up location stuff. I applied the tourist's visa before so I updated some of the info. After filled everything I got the confirmation letter but it's still the ds-160 confirmation no. I think that's my tourist's visa confirmation no. for the interview last time. Should it be the ds-260 confirmation no. cuz I submitted the ds-260 form? I have no idea how to update that one or it doesn't matter? The site says you won't get a interview appointment notice if the confirmation no. is not the same. Anyone knows this issue? How can I solve this problem. Thanks in advance!! Jeff- 6 replies

Hello everyone, We applied for our DCF about a month ago, and we received the news of filling out the DS260 and passport copy, photos, etc yesterday night. We received unfortunate news of my mothers passing and rushed here (Texas) from China to attend my mothers funeral, and we will not be able to return to China until July due to I have business here. Will someone be able to turn in these documents through CITIC Bank on behalf of us in China? They have all of the documents already. Please advise Nathan

Good day everyone, I am currently fulfilling online petition DS-260, and i have a trouble with this question" Is your spouse immigrating to the U.S. with you? Yes No" Well, my husband is US citizen, who is currently living with me in China. He is moving with me to the USA, obviously, but he is not immigrating. What would be the right answer - yes or no?

I'm preparing to fill out a DS-260 form on-line, and there's a question that asks "Do you have an address in US where you intend to live?". This question makes me nervous because it seems related to the "maintain sufficient ties to the US" requirement, which is a bit shaky in my case. My situation is: (1) I haven't lived in the US since 2006. (2) I don't own a home in the US. (3) I use a PO box and a mail forwarding service for mail. (4) I have numerous US bank accounts and credit cards (5) I have a US (California) drivers license (6) I pay US taxes every year -- a *lot* of taxes. (7) I have various investments in the US (stocks, money market accounts, etc.) (8) I'm part owner of a small US company, though not really involved with it. (9) I don't have any relatives who live in the US. When we return to the US, my daughter will be going off to college, somewhere, and my wife and I will live in hotels for a while, or stay with friends, and then will probably leave the US. So, I guess I could answer "yes" and provide a friend's address. The question says "live", not "live permanently", so I'd only be deviating slightly from the spirit of the truth. I'm worried that answering "no" would automatically lead to denial of the visa applications. Any advice?

All - I have a general question about an applicant's travel to the USA prior to having her interview at GUZ. My wife and I are in the middle of completing DS-260. My wife and live in Shanghai. I quit my job in Shanghai and we spent most of 2015 traveling. Last summer my wife received a 10 year tourist visa for the USA and we spent 2 and half months touring around the USA. After we returned to Shanghai we decided that we wanted to move to the US and thus needed to start her immigration process. We also applied for my wife's ITIN in order to file a joint tax return for 2015 and amend my taxes for the previous years we were married. So I got a big refund check for 2015 with both my wife's and my name on it. Problem: We are unable to deposit the check because it has both our names on it and the bank requires that we have a joint bank account. The Patriot Act has prevented us from adding her to account unless we go to the bank in person. So, would we create any problems with NVC if she were to come with me to the USA for a week to add her to my bank account after we submit the DS-260? Thanks!

On the DS-260 Form, in the "Security and Background Section", one of the questions is: "Are you a member of or affiliated with the Communist or other totalitarian party?" The wording/tense of the question is what I am confused on. I have read through tons of CCP related posts on here, but still don't really know how to answer this question because I thought the question was supposed to be "Are you or have you ever been affiliated.....blah blah blah with the CCP", which includes the past tense aspect of it. Anyway, here is my wifes case: In 2012, her senior year of college, an advisor came to her (because her grades were top of the class) and suggested attending a training day/class affiliated with the Party. The advisor insisted she go so she went for the one day, paid a small fee to get a certificate, and that was the end of it. She never participated in any other events and hasn't paid her dues since that one time in 2012. I know even this one event counts as CCP related, but still need to know how to answer this question. Should I put down "Yes" and then provide the explanation I just mentioned? I thought at the time of the interview was the time to answer this question and then post interview fill out the CCP Waiver. Any help and clarification would be much appreciated! Thanks guys! -Flash

Hi, I submitted my DS-260 almost 2 months ago and was later informed by the consulate that I was missing past work and education information. When reviewing the form, the only field which could be relevant for this information is titled "PRESENT Work/Education/Training Information" and therefore, the first time around, I only inserted my current employer and occupation. Could this be the designated area for that particular requested information? I have emailed the Consulate several times, to no avail. I would appreciate if anyone could share their experience. Thanks

Hey there everyone! I'm happy to say that our I-130 paperwork was accepted and we are on to Step 2! Now I have a few more questions: #1- We were under the impression that my husband would get his vaccinations during the medical examination before the interview. However, in the DS-260 application, they asked if he had documentation showing that his vaccinations were in line with US requirements. He doesn't. Is this going to be a problem? What should we do? (There is an explanation box; right now we just have that he expected to do them on the medical exam day.) #2- I quit my teaching job here over a year ago so we could try to have a baby. (My job was stressing me out.) Will we be judged if we put my occupation as 'homemaker'? Somehow that seems better than 'unemployed'. I do sell some handmade jewelry here and there and do odd jobs for exchange of goods, but I don't think that counts as 'occupation.' I report all of this as 'other' income for my taxes. Any ideas what's the best way to fill in this category? #3- They also asked what job my husband intends to do when we return to the States. He'd like to get a job in his field, but I don't know that that will be possible till we get there. I know he could probably get a construction job or something like with a relative for the first few months. Should we try to actually secure that for him first before filing the DS-260 or just file it and tell them about the job or potential job in the interview? Thoughts? (The same goes for me-- we have potential job ideas, but nothing concrete yet. We were planning to show them at the interview.) Thanks for all of your help!

A bit of conflicting info here so want to be 100% sure I follow the correct process The email I received asked me to complete the DS-260 online and submit: copy of personal information page of passport and 2 photographs. It did not mention anything else (besides the cover letter when submitting the documents) and states "Do NOT submit other documents to the Consulate at this time, as they will be destroyed." However, when I log into the website to complete the DS-260 it states "After submitting the DS-260, provide all supporting documentation (as listed on the Documents The Applicant Must Submit web page) for each applicant to your Consulate or U.S. Embassy.". Following the link there is a list of documents including the above and adding birth certificate, police certificate, marriage certifcate, etc. My question is, do we follow the email strictly as that is specific to our case and the website is more generic? All of the additional items listed we had already submitted with the I-130 with the exception of the police certificate. If we follow the email, should we include this one or just bring to the interview? I'm of the opinion we just follow the email until we hear otherwise but don't want to take any chances here.

I have a few more questions about the DS-260 that I hope someone can help with: When I fill in my phone number under "petitioner's phone number" it only allows me to enter a U.S. number. I don't currently have one other than my father's, which is also the house number for my mailing address. Is there a way for me to enter my Chinese phone number, or should I just enter my U.S. number? My husband isn't quite sure which occupation he will enter once in the U.S. For the question "In which occupation do you intend to work in the U.S., should he put "other" and for the explanation write "unsure," or is it best to choose his best guess? Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone, We have several DS-260 questions I hope someone can help answer: For the "Family Information: Spouse" section, when they ask if your spouse (a U.S. citizen) is immigrating to the U.S. with you, do we answer "yes" or "no"? We will be travelling to the U.S together after my husband receives his visa. My husband was denied a U.S. visa under Section 214(b). For the part that it asks to explain why he was denied a visa, what do we write? Is simply "denied under Section 214(b) ok? For the documentation of vaccination question, my husband doesn't currently have these documents but will when he goes for his interview after he gets his medical check. Should we put yes or no? Should my husband put "yes" that he wants to apply for a SSN? Should the petitioner's address be my physical address in Beijing or my domiciled address in the U.S.?Thanks for your help and support!

Filling out the DS-260 and just want to double-check which addresses to use in the form: 1. "Beneficiary's Present Address" The current address my husband (Beneficiary) and I live at here in Beijing, right? (Just like the I-130, right?) 2. "Mailing and Permanent Address Information" (Beneficiary) Permanent Address Please provide the following information on where you intend to live after arrival in the United States. Should this be my US address? We're not 100% sure where we will be moving to exactly, waiting on getting the Visa first. :-) But, my US address is where I get all my mail and such. 3. "Address and Phone Number of Petitioner" This should be my permanent US address right? Not where my husband and I are living currently in Beijing? Thanks!

Hi All, Unfortunately, the paralegal made some typos when it came to my addresses and phone number. Also she provided wrong date for my marriage and answered No to SSN while i do have SSN. Do you guys know how can i fix that? Do I just email NVC to ask them to open the form again or I have to mail out a written request with changes that i want to make to them? Thanks

We are working on filling out the DS-260 but are confused by a few parts. The section on information about the spouse (me), at the bottom it says "Is your spouse planning to immigrate to the U.S. with you?". If you check the "no" box it says "Will your spouse immigrate to the U.S. at a later date to join you?". It seems strange that the question even exists considering the spouse is always a U.S. citizen. Anyway should I say yes to the first question or no to both?

The last step on the DS-260 instructions state: Once you have submitted the DS-260 forms for you and your accompanying family members, you must then submit your required civil documents, photographs and embassy-specific documents to the NVC. If your case is NOT processing electronically, please submit your documents to: National Visa Center Attn: CMR/DR 31 Rochester Ave. Suite 100 Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914 If your case IS processing electronically, please scan and email your documents to: NVCElectronic@state.gov If I DCF'd in Beijing then my case is processed electronically, correct? I don't need to mail these to NVC? Thank you in advance. Julian

Thought I'd provide just another data point for everyone that could be useful. I filed for a DCF in Beijing on 25/11/2014. After the officer took my documentation he said it would take about 3 months (!). And indeed, we haven't heard anything yet at all. Big difference from some experiences I've read on here, with people hearing back after a week or two. It's getting close to the 60-day point when US CIS says you can begin to inquire about your petition status. So I'll probably do that in about a week. Anyone else applied around that time-frame? We're getting quite antsy. Another interesting question: I actually looked at the DS-260 form, and it only asks about current Communist Party membership, not past membership. But obviously the I-485 form does ask if you have ever been a Communist Party member. So it seems that if are a former member, and you follow the directions literally, you will write "No" on DS-260, but then later "Yes" on I-485, because they ask different things. That shouldn't be a problem, right?

It looks like we're getting closer on the paperwork for Mei's siblings to come to the states. USCIS is telling us that there needs to be a form; DS260 filled out and submitted online. I've been trying to get to a point where I can at least look at this darn form so that we can prepare and make sure the info they ask for is at hand when we're ready to do this. Any ideas?

Were taking care of the DS-260 as i write this post. There is one question i/we are not sure how to answer. I/We feel this question be answered as YES because by the time of interview wife and stepson will have medical done and vaccinations will also be done. Should we answer YES? Dan: If you feel this topic should be merged with my other topic? Please merge the two together.

Per request, I've submitted supplemental materials to GZ via CITIC bank pick-up. Anyone have any idea how long it will take for the documents to reach GZ? We've been told to keep an eye on the ustraveldocs website. However, after we enter my wife's passport number, the message says "Your passport is still with post." It's read this way for close to two weeks now. Additionally, we were requested to submit a scan of the biodata page of her passport, not her actual passport. Thoughts?

Hi, could I ask anyone how to submit the DS-260? because there is an invoice id number required before you can open the form. I submitted I-130 and be approved to make an interview appointment now, but there is no information about that invoice id number anywhere. So even I made an appointment this month, I still don't know how to open the DS-260, not mention fill and submit it! And there is no require from embassy to ask me to submit one neither. Could anyone know what's this situation? Does that means I don't have to submit a DS-260 because I have already been approved through I-130?

Quick question. I have everything all scanned and ready for sending via email to NVC for the supporting docs for the DS-260. Can I send multiple emails or does it have to be one email? I have several larger PDF files to send (photos, insurance papers, etc.). I know if I try to attach all of them and send them in one it probably won't send. Thoughts? Experience? THANKS!

So we heard from GUZ today with the case number directing us (actually, directing Chinese National Husband) to go online and complete the DS-260 at https://ceac.state.gov/IV I thought I would get it started for CNH, but something weird is happening. When I log in to the site above, first I get a screen that says: "The next step in the immigration process is for each applicant to complete online form DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application. The DS-260 is designed to collect information that is necessary to adjudicate your immigrant visa application. The DS-260 form may be partially completed, saved online, and finished later, or may be completed all in one session. Before starting the form, applicants should gather the 'Documents The Applicant Must Submit' because they are needed to complete the DS-260 form. To begin the DS-260, please click on the Start link below. Please note that the DS-260 can only be completed after the applicant's Immigrant Visa Fee has been paid." Ok, sounds good. But how do I pay the fee? Not sure. So I go ahead and click the "Start" link, as instructed. Then I get a screen that looks like this: Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application (DS-260) Application List for IV Case GUZ...(his case number) The NVC has received notification that the applicant will join the principal applicant at a later date. Given Name Surname Relationship Fee Status CNH's first and family name PRINCIPAL NOT APPLICABLE NOT AVAILABLE From this is screen, there is no way to move forward with the application that I can see... just a "Cancel" button at the bottom of the screen! I'm so confused. My spouse IS the principal applicant and there are no other family member, kids, etc. attached to this application. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or what this might mean? Thanks in advance, D
