  1. Do you have to make an appointment with the Guangzhou Medical exam place? We know we need an appointment with the Consulate for her Interview. My wife and I will be going to Guangzhou for her Interview. We will do the medical exam before the Interview. Is it possible to get the medical exam done I say Monday and then have the Interview done on Thursday? Thank you
  2. My wife and I had her medical exam done today, July third. Be sure and fill out the two forms from the Guangzhou medical exam website and email them to the medical exam center. Also print these forms out and print out the medical exam reply email because they couldn't find the reply email that they replied to my wife. Also be sure to print out the email that the consulate confirms your interview appointment. We got to the medical exam center before seven thirty in the morning. We were the sixth one thru the door. So be sure to get there early.
  3. Hi all, I have a question about the Physical health check in Guangzhou. Due to I try to call the hospital several times to ask all of these question but I can't reach them. Just hope may be someone has experience and share to me. I appropriate to any of advise and suggestion. 1. What the document to bring with me to hospital. Only the photo? 2. How long of health check process? about 1 day is it correct? 3. How many day in average that I can pick it up? 4. Base on the result will be inside the envelop and not allow to open. How I know the result is ok. Will have some doctor talk with me about it? 5. If the result is not ok, I will know at that time or I will do not know until the interview process? 6. How long for the physical health check will good for? 6 months or 1 year? Thank you for all answers or advise. Jeab
  4. Hi. This is just to update some information previously posted about doing the medical check in Beijing after I spent some time on the phone with the clinic. The procedure (and location) of the clinic has changed, and currently: - an online appointment is required. When I went to book one, they were booked out one week in advance. So plan ahead. Go here: http://tjyy.bithc.bjciq.gov.cn/en/Appoint_Center.html - it takes 5 working days to get results. There is no express service or way to get them sooner. You can receive the results by courier. - For foreigners: if your passport is in for Chinese visa renewal and you have the yellow paper from the Beijing Entry-Exit Bureau, the clinic will NOT accept it. You have to have your original passport. (On the other hand, the GZ clinic told me over the phone they would accept the yellow paper.) - full instructions here: http://www.bithc.org.cn/ithcweb/bithc/fwfw/fmymtj/fmymtjxz/7724.jsp - We're in a situation where the earlier appointment available is a week from now but we need to do the medical on Monday (because my wife's passport needs to go in for Chinese visa renewal). After some pleading on the phone, the clinic agreed to let us come in on next Monday with a print out of the appointment for next Friday (earliest available date) in hand. We'll go on Monday and fingers crossed that they keep their word. YMMV. They in any case absolutely require an online appointment so that your information is in the computer system.
  5. Hi everyone, Does anyone know about can my wife start a medical check right away. after she got NVC case no. My issues is I will have a business trip to visit Guangzhou (my city is far from Guangzhou). So I think it would be a save time and cost to do a medical check in one trip with my business trip. Also I can be with her at that time. My wife submit for IR-1 DCF. Now she got case no. We already submitted for DS-260 online. Or do we need to wait until we get interview confirmation date. Then she can do a medical check. If I can take her for medical check right away that would be great. Anyone has idea? Thank you
  6. My question is about the medical exam before the interview. My wife's interview is in a couple of weeks time, and I just found out there is reason to believe she may fail part of this exam. The issue is correctable but requires time. My question is does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? I'm considering re-scheduling the interview, but I'm wondering if it would be better to just go ahead and have the interview and then have to resubmit medical evidence afterward (assuming that is the procedure). Or if she fails the medical for any reason, treatable or not, is that an outright visa denial? Thanks for any help
  7. My wife has no immunization record (and doesn't think she ever got any as a child anyway), so needs to get immunized. We'd like to get it taken care of ahead of the medical exam so she doesn't have to get so many done at once. We live in Beijing. (My wife is not Chinese.) Do the immunizations have to be done at a particular hospital/clinic in Beijing, or can we have them done at any government or foreign hospital, and simply bring those records to the medical exam? Anyone have experience with this in Beijing? Thank you.
  8. Hello once again community. My husband has his interview scheduled for Feb. 23. Now we can schedule the medical examination. Based on what I've read online, it seems everybody makes the examination and interview one trip. Is it possible to do the medical examination in Guangzhou, then return back to Guangzhou to pick up the exam results and do the interview? I read that the people who give the medical examination give a specific date and time to pick up the results? Seeing that the examination may be several days before the interview, couldn't he pick up the results during the medical place's open hours? This may be option because we live in Guiyang, which is about a 5 hr train ride from Guangzhou and we will be on vacation for Chinese New Year during this time. Thank you!
  9. Hi, Everyone- We are packing up and getting ready to buy plane tickets. I have a couple of questions about immunizations. We do not currently live near the immunization/medical centers in China, but when we arrive in the US, it will be after the 8 week mark listed on the immunization sheet as the window to receive the 2nd round of shots. Can we get the shots after we return to the States and have them still be effective? (It will be about 9-10 weeks.) Will we encounter any problems at immigration/customs without the 2nd shots? Thank so much!
  10. Hello Folks, need some input here. I already see the light at the end of tunnel. Really appreciate it! Background: CR1. My wife had her medical on Jan 6th, 2016. And then she had her interview at Guangzhou, China in Feb 2016. Then more documents were requested. One of the requested documents was Police Report from Kenya because she stayed in Kenya for about 4 years. It took us about 4 months to get the police report in hands, finally. Right now we are ready to submit the requested documents. Question: As her medical document will be expired in about a couple of weeks, should her get the medical renewed before we submit all the requested documents? Thank you!
  11. So I've looked around the forums, and I see that it is possible to directly go in for the medical, you don't even need an appointment, though it is recommended, and do the medical. My question is as to this process. My wife has absolutely no records of any vaccines or anything. Will they be able to do the blood work and give her everything she needs to pass the interview right then and there? Like, will it be one visit, we pay for every vaccine and test, then get the results a day or two later then take them to the interview? I saw that part of the blood test is to check for cumunicable deseses, It says if they have it but show something from a doctor that says it has been healed or tho medication has been started it will be fine. However I'm worried about false positives as it is something she contracted years ago but received medication for and doesn't have. Sometimes it still shows up in the blood work because the antibodies remain. What should we do about this? We plan on going to a local hospital first, getting a test. If it shows up, we plan on starting the medication and getting a note saying she did. But what should it say? Would any hospital and doctors note work for this? I just haven't found much information on this subject. We plan on going in for the medical on Monday or Tuesday morning, and have her interview scheduled for Thursday. I think this should be enough time right? Also, what kind of questions should my wife prepare to be asked in the interview? It can be done in Mandarin right? Our language of communication is Mandarin, but she has some basic English. I'm afraid she won't be able to pass any of the questions or understand, especially if she is nervous, if they use English. This should be it for questions. I can't believe everything has been so quick! Paperwork submitted on April 12, interview on May 19...we have been blessed! Hoping our luck doesn't run out!
  12. Hello all - My wife and I planned on doing her medical exam in Guangzhou the day before our interview. We just found out that the medical exam center is closed due to the holiday and will not reopen until two days after the scheduled date of our interview! Does anyone know if we could send our medical exam results to the consulate after the interview? What happens if we show up for the interview without the medical exam results in hand? Has anyone been in this situation before? Does anyone have any advice for us? Please help! We would greatly appreciate any input.
  13. Hey there everyone! I'm happy to say that our I-130 paperwork was accepted and we are on to Step 2! Now I have a few more questions: #1- We were under the impression that my husband would get his vaccinations during the medical examination before the interview. However, in the DS-260 application, they asked if he had documentation showing that his vaccinations were in line with US requirements. He doesn't. Is this going to be a problem? What should we do? (There is an explanation box; right now we just have that he expected to do them on the medical exam day.) #2- I quit my teaching job here over a year ago so we could try to have a baby. (My job was stressing me out.) Will we be judged if we put my occupation as 'homemaker'? Somehow that seems better than 'unemployed'. I do sell some handmade jewelry here and there and do odd jobs for exchange of goods, but I don't think that counts as 'occupation.' I report all of this as 'other' income for my taxes. Any ideas what's the best way to fill in this category? #3- They also asked what job my husband intends to do when we return to the States. He'd like to get a job in his field, but I don't know that that will be possible till we get there. I know he could probably get a construction job or something like with a relative for the first few months. Should we try to actually secure that for him first before filing the DS-260 or just file it and tell them about the job or potential job in the interview? Thoughts? (The same goes for me-- we have potential job ideas, but nothing concrete yet. We were planning to show them at the interview.) Thanks for all of your help!
  14. Hi everyone, I would like to get some suggestions on my parents’ green card interview scheduled in early Jan. Some background information: parents both in their mid 70s. My mom is healthy but dad has colon cancer. It has been two years since his diagnosis. The cancer seems to be under control now and there might be another surgery coming up to completely get rid of the tumors but the decision has not been finalized yet. Side note: They actually got green cards approved a few years ago, but their SB1 visa (returning resident visa application) was denied in Guangzhou in 2014 because ‘protracted stay abroad was not caused by reasons beyond control’. To be more specific, they applied for green card while they were in the US a few years ago and left US with advanced parole before the green cards were issued. SB1 visa was denied because they didn’t return to US within 12 months of the advance parole, as we were told by the officer even we have the physical green cards. My questions are: I know cancer might potentially impact the interview results due to the public charge factor. What is the possibility that they will be denied? Does anyone have similar experience? Do we need to prove above and beyond financial records for support for my dad? Do I need to get a lawyer to help me? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks for your help in advance.
  15. Well, my sweetie and stepson are at the medical center for the exam as I write. She just sent me some pics of the medical center, as she just got in line. It is 7:47 her time, and you can see that the lines are already long. But it looks at least like she made it up the elevator! I've posted the pics in the gallery...for some reason I can't seem to paste them here
  16. A little background first... My wife has her interview scheduled for September 3. We will arrive in Guangzhou on August 29 and plan to go to the medical exam on August 31. I found a helpful link in a previous post regarding making an appointment in advance to lessen the chaos at the entry to the medical exam. http://www.gdwbzx.com/Booking/SelectModule.aspx My problem is rgarding the address for the medical center in Guangzhou. The above-mentioned link, when clicking "make an appointment", pops up a notice that says the address is NO.207, Longkouxi Road, Guangzhou. However, other information on this website, and in a download from CGI Stanley, says the address is 5/F East Tower, Poly Bld, No. 59 Huali Road, Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou. I'm hesitant to make an appointment due to this conflict in the address. Any advice would be appreciated. Btw, I filed the I-130 on June 11 in Guangzhou. Being able to schedule the interview for September 3, to me, is nothing short of remarkable. Bill
  17. I just 'learned' this today about the Guangzhou Visa Medical Process. 1. You need two forms. See: http://www.gdwbzx.com/ Form #1: http://www.gdwbzx.com/ReadNews.asp?NewsID=438 Form #2: http://www.gdwbzx.com/ReadNews.asp?NewsID=439 2. You need 8 passport photos for the medical plus two for the Interview plus your Interview appointment letter. 3. If you stand in line with incomplete forms or are missing anything you will be sent away. You will not be given a number. 4. The number of morning and afternoon numbers given out are limited. 5. #29 was not called until 10:00 a.m. 6. The last morning numbers were given out around 10:00 a.m. 7. The X-ray room Doctors pointed out a 'new' Consulate Policy Notice on their wall. Any shadow or any doubt in an x-ray requires a 3 day TB test. 8. You will given a pick up slip and a pick up time. 9. You may pay for expedited service with no guarantee you will get faster service.
  18. Hi All - getting a little ahead of myself, but like many in China, my husband did get vaccinated however there are no records. We understand that he'll have to get re-vaccinated (no prob), but are wondering if we should get it done before the medical exam (which we'll complete in Beijing) or just wait until the medical exam and get him started on the vaccinations. From reading on the CFL, it looks like that is what one couple did in 2013 here in Beijing. Waited until the medical exam and the doc started (re)vaccinating the applicant. Once all the vaccinations were complete the completed medical exam records were released. Does anyone know if that's still the way to go in 2015? Wait until the official medical exam to get re-vaccinated as required or get a jump on it beforehand? Thanks a bunch! :-)
  19. Questions : What shot records are needed taking to medical exam ? Where can we get them ?
  20. Hi all. So my wife's interview is scheduled for Tuesday morning at 8:30 am. We live in Shenzhen and my thought was for us to go to Guangzhou on Monday to complete the medical exam. Now I'm wondering if we would have the results in time for the interview. I've read that if you get to the medical office first thing in the morning you can get the results the same day, but since we're travelling from Shenzhen I was wondering if we were to get there later in the day would it still be possible to get the results before the interview the next morning? Thanks!
  21. Oh god. Why did no one warn me about the #$%^ show that was the medical exam on Monday. Got there at 7:10-7:15 and line was already from one door to the other in that small hallway. It gradually gets more packed people can't even get off the elevators. They open the doors and of course all the Chinese wanting to immigrate to the US and adopt cultural values of the US rush the doors and ignore the line that was made. Then you have the Chinese who formed a line yelling at those who tried and budge, but get then they themselves try and budge/cut in line when they get the chance. What do you know...the people with terrible medical issues and all the reasons for denial are the ones who cut in line and rushed to the front so the number calling takes forever. Didn't finish the entire process until 11:15. Positive side: Doctor immediately said that only shot you could do while pregnant is the flu shot and every single exam the first question was always "are you pregnant". X-Ray is of course required, but they do make sure you have protection/shielding for everything. All the nurses/doctors were very pleasant and even more so for having to deal with the type of people that are coming through this process. Be prepared for lots of yelling and pushing and waiting. So, just don't go on Monday and you should be fine. Edit: Forgot to mention that they require 8 photos now.
  22. hello all, my wife is preparing to get her medical check-up in shanghai. She only has 3 records of the required vaccinations listed. i was wondering how much did you all pay for additional vaccination shots? Also, did you have to get them allt? it seems like a lot of shots for one sitting.. thank you all in advance.
  23. I'm pretty sure this question was already disscussed here, but I couldn't find the answer 1)What shall I do after I returned my P3 to the consulate? 2)Do I receive P4 after I pay visa fee or before? 3)If I already paid visa fee, can I choose the date of interview or I should wait for P4? 4) does appointment confirmation that I got from ustraveldoc but not from consulate allow me to schedule my medical examination appointment? 5) Is it true that I should do my medical examination at least for 2 weeks prior to the interview?
  24. Hey everyone, my wife's interview is quickly approaching so I wanted to list out all of the items we've prepared as well as ask a few questions just to double-check the information I've already gathered. This post will probably look similar to kdavid3's post (found here: http://candleforlove.com/forums/topic/46807-guide-to-ir-1-dcf/- thanks a ton, btw!), but since all of our cases are somewhat unique, I hope that my post can be of help to others who have questions and share similar circumstances! Background I've been living in China with my wife for quite a few years and filed our I-130 in Beijing in summer 2014 (DCF). Medical Exam Copy of email titled "Immigrant Visa Instructions" (5 steps for scheduling interview and medical exam) Copy of email titled "Notice For Immigrant Visa Applicants" (instructions for completing DS-260) "Appointment Confirmation" (available at https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/AppointmentConfirmationafter scheduling) 6 2" passport photos (5cm x 5cm in Chinese print shops) Interview "Appointment Confirmation" (same as above) "DS-260 Confirmation Page" "DS-260 Print Application" 6 2" passport photos Copies of all emails received from USCIS/Immigration Wife's resume (Chinese and English) Both of our passports Medical exam documents Chinese "White books": Police ("No criminal sanction") Birth ("Birth") Marriage ("Married", with our pictures) Marriage ("Certificate of Marriage", copy of marriage certificate) ~20 Photos from the 6 years we've been together Originals, copies, and translations of 6 years of shared leases Copies of matching passport stamps from 3 trips to the US My I-864 My 1040 tax returns (2013, 2012, 2011) Letter explaining tax status "single" Copy of my birth certificate Self-employment explanation letter Daily income spreadsheet for past 5 months Monthly income reports for past 8 months Proof of payments to my personal bank account Mom I-864 (co-sponsor) Mom IRS transcripts (2013, 2012, 2011) Mom income proof Copy of mom's birth certificate Dad I-864A Dad IRS transcripts (same as mom's, they file jointly) Dad income proof Copy of dad's birth certificate Latest statement from my personal US bank account Latest statement from two US credit cards Latest IRA statement Documents showing ownership of NY based company Copies of: All "Confirmation" emails/pages Both of our passports Wife's National ID card Questions 1. In kdavid3's post, he mentions including a notarized hukou. My wife did not receive such a thing when she got her white books and it was not asked for when we filed her I-130. Is this something that is required and if so, where do we get it? 2. What are the current total fees paid for the medical exam? 3. For the resume, the IV Instruction pdf says "all educational history". How far back is she supposed to go? Elementary school? I will update this thread with our experiences after the interview!
  25. My stepson is 14. What medical checks does he undergo? How long does it take? Does he do a TB test and if so does he have to wait three days? He goes to the interview with my wife. What questions do they ask. Any advice is welcome.
