  1. Hi. This is just to update some information previously posted about doing the medical check in Beijing after I spent some time on the phone with the clinic. The procedure (and location) of the clinic has changed, and currently: - an online appointment is required. When I went to book one, they were booked out one week in advance. So plan ahead. Go here: http://tjyy.bithc.bjciq.gov.cn/en/Appoint_Center.html - it takes 5 working days to get results. There is no express service or way to get them sooner. You can receive the results by courier. - For foreigners: if your passport is in for Chinese visa renewal and you have the yellow paper from the Beijing Entry-Exit Bureau, the clinic will NOT accept it. You have to have your original passport. (On the other hand, the GZ clinic told me over the phone they would accept the yellow paper.) - full instructions here: http://www.bithc.org.cn/ithcweb/bithc/fwfw/fmymtj/fmymtjxz/7724.jsp - We're in a situation where the earlier appointment available is a week from now but we need to do the medical on Monday (because my wife's passport needs to go in for Chinese visa renewal). After some pleading on the phone, the clinic agreed to let us come in on next Monday with a print out of the appointment for next Friday (earliest available date) in hand. We'll go on Monday and fingers crossed that they keep their word. YMMV. They in any case absolutely require an online appointment so that your information is in the computer system.
  2. My wife has no immunization record (and doesn't think she ever got any as a child anyway), so needs to get immunized. We'd like to get it taken care of ahead of the medical exam so she doesn't have to get so many done at once. We live in Beijing. (My wife is not Chinese.) Do the immunizations have to be done at a particular hospital/clinic in Beijing, or can we have them done at any government or foreign hospital, and simply bring those records to the medical exam? Anyone have experience with this in Beijing? Thank you.
  3. My husband and I went for his medical a day after Pkt 4 arrived due to the short time between notice and interview and i'm glad we did as it won't be ready for a few days...Here's some info... 1) Beijing location is very easy to find and is currently located at line 5 HepingLiBeiJie exit A1 300 meters ahead on left (the recording on the phone says they will be moving soon though) 2) No appointment is necessary, you must be fasting (no eating for 12 hours prior), bring your passport and a copy of it, a copy of your appointment letter, and 4 passport photos, arrive between 8 and 10am 3) We arrived around 8:20 (keep in mind my hsband and I speak limited Chinese) and asked the main reception where to go, they told us 4th floor (in chinese), we found a room on the 4th floor with 2 receptionists where they were doing intake. Chairs were lined up with about 4 families waiting. It was our turn within 20minutes. The woman who was behind the computer asked if we speaked Chinese and of course we said a little, but she was scared and shy and called someone that spoke English. They took the passport copy, 3 pictures, copy of the letter, asked our address, phone number, the usuals and directed us to go to the first room. Oh, we also signed authoriztion forms for HIV, TB, X-Ray, etc. tests to be done (Also check the info sheet they type up, there were many mistakes on ours at first!!!!) 4) The first room was the 'physical exam' - though I wasn't allowed inside (doctor escorted me out) my husband said he had to take all his clothes off and that the doctor poked around everywhere. he then asked medical history in chinglish. The doctor gave a thumbs up and off to the next place we went 5) Next was payment - payment is taken on the first floor and they take the print out that the doctor in the physical exam gave us (has vaccination requirements listed). my husband paid about 1,300RMB for the exam, lab work, and vaccinations. This fee varies depending on the vaccinations needed and I also know that the childrens exams are more expensive as well. 6)Next started the fun part, weaving in and out of a Chinese hospital going from room to room, floor to floor. If you've ever went through a PSB visa exam it's the same kind of procedure. Bloodwork, urine, ultrasound, ECG, ENT, Dental, Vaccination, X-ray,vision. 7) We finished and handed the paperwork in and they said it will be done for pick up on Monday (We did the exam on a Wednesday) Though the procedure was pretty painless, my husband was pretty tired and hungry by the time we were done. He also said his arms and body ached (from vaccinations) later in the day. The only thing that threw us was that he has to return for 2 more vaccinations before his paperwork can be issued. They said we can come, tomorrow, the next day, or Monday as long as they are given before we get the papers. I am happy we planned ahead as it seems the Beijing medical check results don't come as fast as they do at the other places available for the medicals to take place. PS - language was not a problem, as humans we seem to be able to act out things pretty well if verbal communication isn't understood!
  4. I have read on here before that people went to have their medical exam in Guangzhou a couple days before their interview and that this was fine. However when we received our packet 4, in the information I saw this "You must go to the designated panel physician to have your examination at least two weeks before your visa interview appointment date." Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a new rule? We do not live that close to Guangzhou and were hoping to avoid having to make another trip there just for the medical exam. I was hoping someone who has interviewed since the March 16th changes could clear this up for me. Thanks in advance
  5. Was surprised to wake up this morning to an email from USCIS in Beijing with our NOA attached. It's only been 7 working days since I submitted the I-130 in Beijing!! Anyhow... now my head's spinning, and I have a few immediate questions I'm hoping this group can help with, since I wasn't expecting to hear from them for at least a month. - I'm now stateside and my wife's back in her hometown (Wuhan). Ideally, we'd like to change the address they mail correspondence to (to Wuhan). Any decent way to do that? Can I just message the GZ consulate via the online form? - I'm a little confused on who goes to the interview in GZ once its finally scheduled. Is it immigrant (my wife) only, or am I allowed/supposed to go? I thought I'd previously read that only the immigrant goes... - I keep reading about co-sponsors for affadavits of support. I've just moved back stateside and have a good paying job, well above poverty level. From looking at the I-864, I shouldn't need any kind of co-sponsor, or even need to provide bank info beyond proof of employment and income. That sound about right? - I "front loaded" my I-130 packet with tons of stuff. Do we need to take that to GZ with us, or will they have it all? Thanks, Charlie
  6. Someone recently attached the short cut to the China medical exam instructions. It looks like there are two places in Beijing to get this done. Any problem with taking care of the exam in Beijing before heading to Guangzhou. Seems like it would take some of the anxiety of getting it done while in an unfamiliar city.
  7. i know there are a lot of posts about this, but i can't find much followup from people who asked the question....so!....: We are getting the medical in Beijing, K-1 visa. We therefore can't pay the interview fee beforehand at one of the banks on the list since they are all in Guangzhou or Shanzhen etc. People who got the medical in Beijing, how did you do it? Did a receipt from a Beijing CITIC bank work? (did the hospital tell you which bank?) did you just pay the fee later after the medical?
  8. I'll be leaving for China on Aug 26, arriving BJ on 27th... My plans are to try and get the medical exam done in BJ... probably around 29th... I had my SO call the hospital to ask some questions. They said we can pay for the visa after the medical (not sure if they were implying we should pay it in BJ or in GUZ, but will find out at some point). Also said we can pickup the medical results the same day with expedited service so we don't have to stay overnight there.. good news again! My SO recommends we take the 4:30am train to BJ and then taxi an hour to the hospital ... she also likes the idea of a 20 hour train ride to GUZ we'll see... --- If anyone has an experience with medical exam or visa payment in BJ, please post... If we are succussful in BJ (and don't have to do it in GUZ for any reason), then I will post an explanation of the Medical exam process in BJ and any visa payment issues we encounter, as someone has already done this for Shanghai (in FAQ, along with GUZ experiences too). Then I'll be in GUZ for the week of Sept 5...
  9. My so and i would like to meat in Beijing and take care of the medical part of the visa before going to QZ for the interview but we are unable to find out if it is possible to pay the visa fee in beijing and sense the reciept for the visa fee must be included inside of the sealed medical envolope it looks as this is not possible. Has any one done the medical and paid the visa fee in Beijing or know if this is possible.
