  1. Hey there everyone! I'm happy to say that our I-130 paperwork was accepted and we are on to Step 2! Now I have a few more questions: #1- We were under the impression that my husband would get his vaccinations during the medical examination before the interview. However, in the DS-260 application, they asked if he had documentation showing that his vaccinations were in line with US requirements. He doesn't. Is this going to be a problem? What should we do? (There is an explanation box; right now we just have that he expected to do them on the medical exam day.) #2- I quit my teaching job here over a year ago so we could try to have a baby. (My job was stressing me out.) Will we be judged if we put my occupation as 'homemaker'? Somehow that seems better than 'unemployed'. I do sell some handmade jewelry here and there and do odd jobs for exchange of goods, but I don't think that counts as 'occupation.' I report all of this as 'other' income for my taxes. Any ideas what's the best way to fill in this category? #3- They also asked what job my husband intends to do when we return to the States. He'd like to get a job in his field, but I don't know that that will be possible till we get there. I know he could probably get a construction job or something like with a relative for the first few months. Should we try to actually secure that for him first before filing the DS-260 or just file it and tell them about the job or potential job in the interview? Thoughts? (The same goes for me-- we have potential job ideas, but nothing concrete yet. We were planning to show them at the interview.) Thanks for all of your help!
  2. Hey guys, I'm now in this section after a fairly enjoyable K1 process.... My questions is about this medical. I've done a fair bit of research but I can't quite answer my own question. My wife was pregnant during her K1 medical, so she did not get any vaccines. They did not give her a DS-3025 either. I see via the I-485 instructions... C. Fiance(e)s: If you are a K-1 fiance(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the non-immigrant fiance(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report... I don't understand if this means I need to fill out a DS-3025 or just the "Vaccination portion of the I-693". Which is the final page of the I-693. I definitely wouldn't want to mail in a I-693 that is totally blank except the vaccination page. Unless this is what is expected. (???) It also states that I do not need to include the "entire medical report". So it seems that all I need to send in with my I-485, as far as medicals go, is the vaccination proof. I don't even need to provide proof that a medical was done in China (I don't have anything to prove that anyway really) as the K1 visa wouldn't have been issued without it anyway. True? Thanks guys! I wouldn't have made it this far without this forum.
  3. Please post Name, Address and cost of Civil Surgeons you may have had a bad experience or good experience. For example a K-Visa holder adjusting within a year of medical for visa interview should only need vaccination portion of I-693 done NOT a FULL medical. Note CR-1 and IR-1 have this handled before Visa interview so wont deal with the Civil Surgeon in the USA. If adjusting from a visa type like a student visa then a FULL MED is required. Links of interest: http://www.immunize.org/catg.d/p4030.pdf (List of vaccinations requirements for AOS) Thanks Lee VD http://candleforlove...ndpost&p=565702 VJ's Thread: http://www.visajourn...nt-rip-you-off/ Age 18 - 64 are required to have: MMRTdVariccella (AKA Chicken Pox)The FLU if in seasonTable of required vaccinations: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/hcp/imz/adult.html http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/downloads/adult/adult-schedule.pdf Better yet, if you can, get the DS-3025 done overseas while doing the medical for the visa, the DS-3025 should be in a seperate sealed envelope that you will bring to the USA and use when adjusting status, see this posted later in this thread: http://candleforlove...012?do=findComment&comment=577012 mm5901-Immunization.pdf ds3025.pdf adult-schedule.pdf
  4. Questions : What shot records are needed taking to medical exam ? Where can we get them ?
  5. hello all, my wife is preparing to get her medical check-up in shanghai. She only has 3 records of the required vaccinations listed. i was wondering how much did you all pay for additional vaccination shots? Also, did you have to get them allt? it seems like a lot of shots for one sitting.. thank you all in advance.
  6. I'm pretty sure this question was already disscussed here, but I couldn't find the answer 1)What shall I do after I returned my P3 to the consulate? 2)Do I receive P4 after I pay visa fee or before? 3)If I already paid visa fee, can I choose the date of interview or I should wait for P4? 4) does appointment confirmation that I got from ustraveldoc but not from consulate allow me to schedule my medical examination appointment? 5) Is it true that I should do my medical examination at least for 2 weeks prior to the interview?
  7. Were taking care of the DS-260 as i write this post. There is one question i/we are not sure how to answer. I/We feel this question be answered as YES because by the time of interview wife and stepson will have medical done and vaccinations will also be done. Should we answer YES? Dan: If you feel this topic should be merged with my other topic? Please merge the two together.
  8. My stepson is 14. What medical checks does he undergo? How long does it take? Does he do a TB test and if so does he have to wait three days? He goes to the interview with my wife. What questions do they ask. Any advice is welcome.
  9. Hello All! My wife is here on K-1 visa, we got married one month after she entered the country. We are prepping for AOS and have a question about vaccination. She got her shots done in China and all they gave her was the yellow booklet, she did not receive DS-3025 form. In her situation, she needs to go to a Civil Surgeon (CS) to complete certain parts of form I-693 correct? Does she need to do a full medical? Thanks!
  10. HI, Is there a particular doctor that my wife will need to go to? I think that she has to get some shots. when she sees the doctor, is there anything in particular that she will have to explain to the doctor?
  11. First off, these forums have been a great help in our visa process. My wife and I are preparing for our interview later this month (we live in Shanghai, DCF in Beijing), and there are just a few details I'm not sure about. 1. Police report: we've lived in SH for 10 years, wife's hukou is Jiangsu. Our local SH police station said they can provide a police report covering 2008 to now. Is that sufficient for the interview, or do we need to get something covering a longer period of time, which would require trip back to Jiangsu? 2. For medical exam in Shanghai, when are results available? I've read they are available later same afternoon when done at GZ facility, but not sure about Shanghai. 3. Any idea of what current vaccinations are required? We don't have her records; it seems everyone is in this situation. My wife is still breastfeeding our baby, and I've read that most vaccinations are fine while nursing, but some clarity on which vaccines they will give her would be appreciated. Thanks.
  12. My wife has her passport and visa in hand. We are getting ready for our move to America, but we need to settle a few disagreements first. 1. My wife already received her first round of vaccinations, but still hasn't gone back for her final vaccination shot. Some Chinese wives she has spoken to in some QQ groups say that the second vaccine is unnecessary. I say better safe than sorry. Does she need this final vaccine before leaving China, or can she get it in America. 2. Also, we are looking for the cheapest possible flight back to NY for this summer. All of the cheapest flights have overnight layovers in Tokyo. My wife thinks that she is not allowed in Japan and will get sent back to China. I disagree. Can we buy this ticket with nothing to worry about?
  13. Hi, When I received my K-1 visa I was living in the UK. The Varicella (chickenpox) was not available. I obtained all other shots and this was included with my medical. Those were all taken when I entered the country. Do I need to get the shot before I submit my I-485? Thanks Liz
  14. I was looking at a copy of ds-3025, and I was wondering which vaccines were actually required. It wasn't specific on whether it was documenting what has been done, or listing what was required. DPT / DT Diphtheria / Pertussis / Tetanus (Pertussis vaccine normally not given to adults) Td Tetanus / Diphtheria booster. Polio (OPV/IPV) Measles (MMR) Mumps (MMR) Rubella (MMR) Hib (influenza Hepatitis B } Varicella (Chicken Pox) Pneumococcal Influenza I know that Pneumococcus (Pneumonia) is only vaccinated for with people over 60 or so. Influenza is normally considered optional. I don't believe that Chicken Pox is a required childhood vaccination yet. Several of these vaccinations require a series of shots. I know that Hepatitis B requires 3 shots over a 6 months period. Polio also requires multiple shots. Should one check the vaccination status early and start updating them if necessary? ----- Clifford ------
  15. I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. (If you already have this from your overseas Visa Interview submit a copy that medical check form; No fee is required in this case. If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement (I-693A), not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application.) The POE took her medical forms, so we don't have anything to submit with the AOS packet. Am I just to submit the vaccination I-693A supplement? Or do we need to get a new medical examination here to submit?
  16. We filed $1010usd worth of stuff (sorry) a few months ago. Then,we received a letter instructing to go get fingerprinted in Tampa. Then,we waited. Then, the EAD Working Card arrived in the mailbox and my wife started LEGALLY working a couple of months ago. Thats it. WHATS NEXT??? Have I forgotten anything? I assume the next thing to happen is a letter will come instructing to go make Medical Exam (in USA) should arrive? Theres nothing more I can do-right? Just wait for the Med-Exam instructions to come in the mail? My wife has started pestering me about this so I had better have an answer for her tonight! (I think we are supposed to just wait for that Med-Exam letter, but every time she gets around "new" Chinese friends, and they start giving her "advice" about her Green Card, she starts getting impatient and militant towards me.) Demilitarized Duck with Plumb Sauce for dinner tonight!
  17. I have no idea what's going on with USCIS...... My husband entered into US thru K-1. As is informed, we just need to submit I-693A. However, after waiting for 4 months, we got a notice today that request him to submit the original DS-2053 (which was given to the custom when entering into the US) or HAVE THE MEDICAL EXAM AGAIN! Basically the reason for that is no medical exam could be located. We are living in NY. Anyone else has the same case? I guess we 99% will end up having another medical exam, which is really ridiculous!
  18. I applied for fiance visa and arrived in USA in Jan. Before I came here, I had my medical exam that required by US consulate for visa interview. Now I am applying for the adjustment of status and Form I-693 needed to be filled by doctor. Does anyone here know whether I need another medical exam for adjustment? Thank a lot for kind help.
  19. My wife got here on a K-1 Visa, and had the required medical exam in China on September 24. We filed our AOS application on January 6. Now we got an RFE saying that she needs to get a medical exam and send in an I-693. I called the 800 number listed and they were not very helpful. They said we need to send a letter back with the RFE if we want to dispute the need for an I-693 - saying my wife is here on a K-1 Visa (shouldn't they know that?) and that she had a medical exam in September 2005 and we filed the AOS in January 2006 (again, you would think they would know all of this!). Now the way I read the rules in the I-693 FAQ - http://uscis.gov/graphics/i-693faq.htm - for K-1 Visa's if you had a medical exam within 1 year of filing AOS, you do not need to get a medical exam in the US - nor do you need to send in the I-693. We did get her vaccines here in the US and sent in the Vaccine Supplement form with the AOS. So I am wondering what to do. I don't want to hold up our AOS application, which within the past few weeks got transferred to the California office for "faster processing". Any suggestions would be appreciated. I guess we will try sending in a letter, but I hate to get yet another RFE a few weeks later saying we still need a medical exam and an I-693! Thanks, Fred

  22. CR1togo has given a complete guide to Shanghai medical experience back in June 5 this year. The medical procedure in Shanghai stays mostly the same except that HIV screening is not done seperately as described by CR1togy. I will give an updated version here to share with you. This is where the doctor performs routine check and fills out the forms. After all that the doctor will advise you the later steps (vaccination and pickup result). 23. Ok I'm a little confused. I've completed all the forms for AOS except the I-693 which if I am reading it correctly means that Bing has to have another whole physical exam. If so what did I pay 100 bucks for in China? We have the Vacination records she got after visa approval, but don't they put all the medical records in the mysterious brown envelope? all we have is a little 3X5 booklet of her medical exam. Is this what we take to the civil surgeon along with X-rays?
