  1. Thanks Allon. This is very helpful information. I really appreciate it
  2. Thanks Randy. that's a good point. Knowing the clinics around here, they would require a percentage of the bill paid up front.
  3. Thanks so much. The cost is definitely a concern along with how hesitant doctors are to see patients w/o health insurance. I'm going to try some of the cancer centers tomorrow or Monday if they aren't open tomorrow, and go from there Appreciate you all!
  4. Allon. thanks for your response. Her father just received a tourist visa from the U.S. and can come here any time. We're trying to figure out the "how" of him receiving diagnosis and treatment when he comes her, if that's what my wife and her father decide, and how to pay for it w/o insurance thanks again
  5. Thanks for your quick response and help. I really appreciate it and this is what I love about this group. One thing I failed to mention is that her father and mother both were recently approved for a tourist visa to visit the U.S. If we bring him here for second opinion and possible treatment, I'm expecting it to be costly from a financial perspective. I'm going to call tomorrow and find out what we're looking at and how long this may take. I'm not sure time is on our side Thank you again!
  6. My wife found out tonight that her dad, who lives in China, has a tumor on one of his lungs. He's been a heavy smoker for a long time. She is understandably very upset and concerned and is thinking about trying to bring him to the U.S., which is where we live, to be treated. Does anyone have experience with something like this? I know since he has no insurance in the U.S. it's going to be pretty expensive. Any input would be appreciated Thank you!
  7. Hi all. I hope everyone is doing well. My wife and I are wanting her elderly parents to come to the U.S. to visit us from China. Could someone point us to the steps required for us and for them? I know there is an invite letter we have to put together along with sponsorship? Any help you could give would be much appreciated as we really aren't sure where to start. Thanks all!! :-)
  8. Thanks for the updates guys. Glad to hear that a member of the group recently arrived back in the US from China. My wife is visiting China in a few months too. Can't help but think about it, especially after our long journey to get here.
  9. I agree Greg. On the surface it "appears" that perm. residents from China will be allowed back in the US after traveling but this thing seems ongoing and changing
  10. Do we know if this could impact green card holders coming back to the US from China?
  11. Thanks for the responses guys. This one is definitely a tricky topic. I'll keep digging. Best of luck to you both :-)
  12. Hi all. Hope everyone is doing well. My wife and I are beginning our research on options for bringing her parents to the US. They are both over 65 and we are trying to learn what assistance, if any, they would be able to receive once they are here such as assisted living, health insurance options....etc. as they would like to have some independence of their own. Can someone who has experienced a similar situation share what you did or point us to existing posts on this topic. Any assistance or input would be greatly appreciated Thanks all! :-)
  13. Just wanted to let everyone know that we received our notice that my wife's 10 GC has been ordered. CSC received our packet Nov 14th so we are at around 6 months and a week for processing time. I believe it takes around a week to 10 days to receive the card once this notice is received. thanks all Don
  14. We are using Air China but I'm hoping we have her new card before she leaves in June. Everything I'm reading shows about 6 months from applying to receiving the new card.....if all goes well. I will have her call Air China to confirm they understand that the letter is all she needs. Never ends does it? LOL
  15. Thanks Dan. That makes sense. We are "hoping" she gets her green card before she leaves but not holding our breath. We applied for ROC in mid November so we'll see. thanks again
  16. So...my wife went to her InfoPass appointment this morning to request an I-551 stamp in her passport and they told her since she has the extension letter she doesn't need a stamp to re-enter the US and they sent her away. Anything else we can do?
  17. Thank you Dan. Can we book an infopass appointment online? Also, What are our options if they do happen to schedule an interview while she is out of the US? Ask them to reschedule? thanks Don
  18. Hi all. I know this is a common topic but I had trouble finding info on it. We applied for my wife's 10 year ROC (and step son) in November of last year. She is planning to go to China to visit this summer and I don't think she will have her new 10 year green card in time for her trip. I thought I read somewhere on this site that you could go to the local USCIS office and request a stamp or something? Could someone tell me about that and how we get an appointment? I forgot to mention her 2 year perm res. card is almost expired and she did receive the 1 year extension letter thanks Don
  19. Thanks for the posts! I appreciate all the help!! :-)
  20. Thanks Warped. We are planning to submit other evidence. I think I'm getting too hung up on the written statements. We have bank statements from beginning of our marrige til now, lease agreements with both names, 2 years tax returns, photos, 3 written statements,.....things like that. My friends are getting their statements notarized. Their statements are short and to the point but notarized also. Hopefully that will help
  21. I'm going to go back and modify those to one page and have them get it notarized again
  22. So my friend used the affidavit template from VJ. When she typed a few sentences it pushed the notary info down and created a 2nd page. She took it to the notary and the notary only stamped the 2nd page with her notary seal and signature. I don't know much at all about notarizing but should the notary have stamped the 1st page too or is only stamping the 2nd page suffficient? Sorry for the weird questions. Really want to get this right the first time :-S
