  1. For the affidavits from friends, do most people use the format of the affidavit found on Visa Journey? Seems pretty formal but you guys have the experience :-) thanks Don
  2. Thanks for your help Dan. The evidence of relationship on the USCIS website looks pretty cut and dry. I'll go through the I-751 info on this site if I need more information. I havent seen anything about it but is it a good idea to send in photos from the past two years as well? thank you
  3. I just thought of another question. Do the affidavits from people that know us have to be notarized or just signed originals? Or both? thanks all Don
  4. So, unlike the 2 yr conditional green card application we don't have to provide her shot records or any of that? Just Copy of green card and evidence of the relationship? Sorry for all the questions. This just sounds so much easier than all the other applications and processes we've been through. Don
  5. Hi all. My wife and step-son have been here in the US for nearly 2 years and we just got the letter from USCIS saying its time to submit the I-751 to remove conditions. I had a few questions - sorry if these are repeats listed somewhere else. 1- Is I-751 the only form we need to fill out and submit? (ex...I dont need to submit the 865 geographic again or affidavit of support to I?) 2- Do we need to submit a separate I-751 for my step son who is 15 yr old? thanks all! Don
  6. That's reassuring Mick. I guess after going through the LONG steps to getting our K1 I just get a little ansy about her leaving the US for a month to go back to CN. Sounds like it's all pretty cut and dry as long as she has GC, PP, and marriage doc thank you
  7. Thanks Dan. Her air tickets are in maiden name which matches her Chinese passport. Hope you are well
  8. Hi all. My wife is flying to China in the very near future to visit her parents for the first time since coming to the US to marry me. She is bringing her Chinese passport, her green card, and a certified copy of our marriage certificate/license. Are these still the items she MUST bring in order to leave/re-enter the US? Also, is it common to be detained upon coming back to the US after leaving/returning for the first time since receiving green card? Just wanted to try to get an idea of what she should expect based on experience from others thanks all :-) Don
  9. I know this is a common topic. Thank you for your patience and help (as always). Love this forum as you guys have been there for us from the beginning!!
  10. Ok. that's reassuring. This is her first time traveling back to China since coming here a few years ago and with the green card and Chinese passport having different names I am naturally a little concerned. So if she travels with the following things she should be good? - Chinese passport - Us Green card - copy of marriage certificiate When at the Chinese airport to come back here will the Chinese customs people need to see anything other than her Chinese passport or will they need to see her green card too? thanks so much
  11. Dan...I forgot to ask Is your wife's passport in her maiden name and green card in married name? thanks
  12. Hi all. Just wanted to let everyone know that I filled out the change of address forms for my wife and step son (individually) online. It was a pretty short form actually. I then filled out a simple form 865 for myself and mailed it in. This was an easy process. Thanks for all the help :-)
  13. One last question for you folks that have experienced this. Would you suggest we book the tickets through Expedia or go through a travel agent? I don't know that one is better than the other. Appreciate input from anyone that has experienced this thanks all
  14. Will do. Thanks Dan! Also, since her passport name is different than her married name shown on her green card.....does she need to carry a certified copy of our marriage license? Just wondering what they will be looking at when she comes back to the US and goes through customs at the airport thanks
  15. Hi all. My wife, who is a perm. resident in the U.S., will travel to China in a few months from the U.S. to visit her family. I wanted to see if anyone has experience wtih this and can tell me which name we should put her airline tickets in. Her Chinese passport has - Her First name and maiden last name Green Card has - Her first name and her married last name U.S. drivers license has - her first name and her married last name Should we just put her first name and maiden name on the air tickets or put her first name and married last name and carry a certified copy of the marriage license? I've seen other posts about this in the past but was unable to find. Any help would be appreciated Thanks all!
  16. Good deal! Do they send out new Perm. Res. Cards after we move?
  17. Thanks Tsap. Sounds like I can do their parts online and snail mail my 865. Also online it looks like you are ok to do it within a few weeks of moving
  18. I went to the link and it says you can do it online. Has anyone tried changing the address online?
  19. Hi all. I'm sure there is a post about this somewhere but I couldnt find it. My wife is here on her 2 year green card and we are going to move to a new address in a few weeks. Who do we need to notify, at what point, and how do we do that? as always we greatly appreciate your help! :-) thank you
  20. Thanks all. She had a lot of science credits with her bachlor degree from China so we may look at having her go the route of getting a science endorsement on her teaching license. the Praxis Reading exam is our next hurdle. She passed the math and writing last month!
