  1. Thank you very much for the message!! I get to know what China Safe haven really refers to in your post. I am so so sorry for misunderstanding it with another term used commonly in China. Please accept my apology!!
  2. Thanks for sharing your story more. It seems to me that your two wives were not willing to overcome/share life difficulties with you. I think a cross-country relationship is normal/common if the relationship still makes sense without the cross-country condition. Otherwises the relationship will fade and disappear very quickly! Certainly many exceptions with good life. I hope yours is the one. Get a lawyer and good luck!
  3. Your better half is right. Qingming also indicates Spring is here for sure. Willows are greening and flowers are blooming! It is time to go out for hiking and camping etc. A tradition of Qingming is that children walk on greens/grass and eat green long onions. This is a hope to bless them grow up cleverly and healthily.
  4. I go with credzba. Actually even yourself have difficulties and unwilling with the relationship. Visit her more? But you have to in order to make the case look real. You know what Guangzhou thinks of the marriage! A Chinese student studies in USA. He comes back to China and married to a young girl whom he knows for months. Bring her to USA as F2. Unfortunately they divorced soon after she settles down in US. He thinks he is unlucky. Years later he comes back to China again and wants to marry a young girl again. His parents say "Please do not do it again to us. You are just a transport plane for those girls." His name is replaced by "transport plane". It is not a fiction. It is petty common for the international students group in USA.
  5. It is sad to hear the story and glad CPS involved. It seems father loves his own child more than stepson. You are right. It is a bad idea to send the boy back to China, which only keep the boy out of the family. As a mother, I can not imagine a life of leaving a child alone somewhere else. Children are innocent in the marriage. China calls butt safe place only because people think spanking/beating this area does not easily cause serious damages to children. However it is not an excuse to punish children. There are many horrible stories in China that children are dead because of serve beating on the butt. I think it is correct to stop the father to avoid big damage in the future.
  6. You are right. At interview, to my surprise, about 50%-60% applicants are parents. I am not sure if parents can live long in the USA if no Chinese community around after immigration. Hope your in-laws immigration goes well. In your case, I guess the reason why they can not get visa because of your and your wife's status and their link with China. I have a friend, who and her husband are LPR. Their parents from both sides have no problem of receiving a visa and visiting them many times.
  7. That would be a copy of petitioner's Chinese birth Cert. No, petitioner's notary birth cert only has the petitioner's mother's name, no father's. Yes, I know it sounds wired. But in China, many years ago, no birth cert when a baby was born. People get their birth certificate when they handle going abroad things and get a notary birth certificate from a notary office.
  8. Yes, ask her for advice. She will let you know what her mother wants. But I guess she would not anything from her mother. In China, normally when parents are asked what they want, they will say "nothing, your visit is the best gift". It is not that they try to be polite. It is true. But it doesn¡¯t mean you just come with empty hands. Bring something like chocolates, not expensive cosmetic items, cigarettes, or alcohols which she can use to treat visitors when her relatives/friends know your first visit.
  9. Any criminals related with drugs will be severely punished in China. China has no tolerance with drugs. It is a good thing!!
  10. Is their marriage certificate translated and notarized by a notary office in China? If yes, it should be fine. Besides, I think you should have notary certificates showing they are your parents.
  11. Calling NVC would be for nothing. They have completed their work and throw it to Guangzhou. You are right, it is the time to talk with Guangzhou. How about like this? You send Guangzhou an email inquiring if they can postpone your stepson's interview to wait for your wife's. From my experience, they will try to make it (I asked them to reschedule my interview right after a certain time, and they did). If they say they could not or not sure, I think it is better to let your stepson interviewed first. As others' saying, the worst is that he receives a blue slip. Certainly if he gets a pink, you need to take care of him before his mother arrives in USA or other choices (which is not to be worried now).
  12. I see. They should mention it to your wife. Anyway hope she gets some information useful there. In China, at most time you have to ask/inquire officals instead they provide what they should do. Now the situation is getting much better than before. When I updated my passort in Chicago (two years ago) and my Chinese ID in Beijing (months ago), they all asked me if I would like to keep the old one before I asked it.
  13. It is good to know this. Your comments definietly will help people how to handle this thing properly. Thanks, Lee VD.
  14. Yes, others' saying is correct. Your wife maybe forgot to ask for the old one when she received the new one. Normally the officer there will ask the applicant if would like to have the old passport back when they give him/her a new one.
  15. Are you doing electronic processing (EP)? It is much faster. If you do it, you will receive an email from NVC with new case number. Anyway, when the bill is shown "Paid", you can prepare your AOS package and her IV package, and email them to NVC (for EP) after you get your new case number. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/nvc/nvc_1335.html
  16. Just find out CCP is asked in item 40c of DS 230 form. We missed the question. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43068&st=15 To help other applicants who have such an issue and choose "yes" to the question, do you think it would be helpful for them to avoid a blue slip at interview if they submit a statement along with their DS 230 form? It could be an option! Certainly it would not be if "GZ doesn't really look at the petition until interview day" as warpedbored said.
  17. OK, that answers the one question I always had about this, why the issue of CCP is never really addressed until the interview even though the DS 230 asks the question. It is not only signature thing, I think. At interview, you simply are asked to sign your name on the DS230 which you submitted before. There are so many things in item 40. We did not read one sentence by another, which we should!! That is how we missed the question. I feel very bad for missing it. Just like an insurance policy, you may sign it without looking at the details in the policy. Only when an accident occurs, you may start to read the policy and find out what is covered or not covered, especially after your insurance company refuses to pay the bill. I learn things from today's experience.
  18. I am not sure whether it works if explaining it in the petition. Most people like me do not realize CCP is a problem till we see people talk about it. Many people may know it till the interview. Like me, just a few minutes ago, I get to know CCP is asked specifically in DS 230 item 40c. If attaching a statement whiling filing DS 230, it may help to avoid a blue slip. But like you said, maybe not. Who knows?
  19. My God! It is true!! Reading your post, I immediately check my DS 230, item 40c. It is asked in the middle of the sentence!! How come we missed it . What we were doing at that time? If we did not miss it, we could seek and take action ahead like you said, submitting a statement earlier with DS 230!!! Thus we do not need to be waiting now!!! Thank you, Beachey! Is that DS-230 Part 2? If so, is part 2 required to be sent at that time? Yes, part II is required to be sent in IV package as well but just do not sign it till the interview.
  20. My God! It is true!! Reading your post, I immediately check my DS 230, item 40c. It is asked in the middle of the sentence!! How come we missed it . What we were doing at that time? 21. We did not realize it was asked in DS230. In DS230, one question related might be the one asking what professional organization you belong to. I and my husband both thought this question asks what occupational origination such as society of accounts, economics association, and engineering association, because this question comes out right after the question about working experience. So we put NA there. Probably months later, we found this website and visa journey, and found many people talked about CCP. It caught our attention and learned it was asked implicitly in DS230. Anyway keep long story short. With help of friends here, we learned to have a statement when the question jumps out at interview. Now we are in AP. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=42851 http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43015 Therefore, when I read your post, I thought maybe what other applicants could do is to handle such a thing in the early stage of their journey, and do not have to wait till interview. But also some said that this question only become an issue at interview. I do not have a solid answer.
  22. We have chose me as a resident alien when we filed joint tax return of 2008 and 2009 when I was in USA. So if I understand you correctly, except my worksheet, form 2555 is the form we need to attach into our 1040 for 2010 to exclude my income in China. Thanks.
  23. Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your experience. All bests to you two!! In addition, Bullmastiff raises a good point about what needs to be handled before everything sent to Guangzhou. Now I think over our case, Could waiting time of AP be cut off if CCP membership was processed before Guangzhou interview? I am not sure. It did not cause our attention until we read some posts here in our late visa journey. This might give other applicants an option of handling such things.
  24. For your I-130 form, it should be her name (Chinese characters and Pinyin) on her valid passport, which comes from her name on Hukou. If you want to change it to her married name in I-130, you need to update her passport first! Let Gongzhengchu accepts her married name, she may need to change her name to her married name on her Hukou first. Her name on Hukou is the evidence for marriage certificate, police certificate and birth certificate. Her other name Tata, Jasmine Tata Kirkhoff can not used for the petition and visa.
  25. So touched by all of your guys' thoughtful consideration/preparation of welcoming your love!!! I will forward the link to my husband to push him work more
