  1. I got one of those Red light tickets, came with a photo of my truck with license plate for proof. It cost me $75.
  2. Completely agree.....seems as if there may be something fishy going on, with the sporadic communication, trip to the consulate, etc..... Yep be cautious on this one, but this will be a trip to remember even if this lady is not the one!
  3. The last time my wife went back to China, she had bought a few lighters that had USA symbols on them and gave them to her ex-bosses and one to her brother-in-law. My wife said the brother-in-law really enjoyed it even though he doesn't smoke much, uses it to light up his friends and bosses cigs.
  4. Congrats, you better start looking for the nearest Chinese market because you will be spending a lot of money there.
  5. Congrats and thanks for the update. I had wondered why you were living in China after you had received for your wife's Visa.
  6. Congrats, your visa should be good for 180 days.
  7. I think that you may also need an approval letter from the birth father that it is OK for the son to leave the country or evidence that the wife has sole custody of her son. This one was difficult for my friend when filing the CR-2 for his step-daughter. Good luck.
  8. Yep, we filed back in March and still waiting, so you have a little more time to wait.
  9. But the IRS website states: "An alien may become a resident alien by passing either the green card test or the substantial presence test as explained below." Green Card Test Are you an "immigrant" (Lawful Permanent Resident) of the United States under the immigration laws of the United States? Aliens who are Immigrants are Resident Aliens of the United States for tax purposes, under the condition that they spend at least one day in the United States. If you answered yes to the above question, you do not need to proceed to the questions below. So if he has the greencard and been in the US one day I think he passes.
  10. This could be a problem only if in the interview the question was brought up about the beneficiary having a sibling living in the same state the beneficiary was imigrating to. I think the chance of this question coming up would be slim because the beneficiary is asked questions mainly about the spouse. On the DS230 there is a question if there was help completing the form and if the petitioner puts your name I don't think they would tie 2 and 2 together. If they have enough evidence of a spousal relationship as Don says I don't see there being an issue. Just my 2 cents!
  11. I'm in the same boat, my wife is telling me that her sister wants her son to come to the US and go to a University here, that all she needs to do is file for the Visa and he can live with us.
  12. It seems that not being able to show proof of on-going communication is going to be his problem. Does he have anything that he can supply for evidence of communicating?
  13. Yep, be careful. I have a buddy that scanned all of his visits to China and apparently he had gone to China to meet with another lady before he married his current wife. She was asking me and my wife all kinds of questions of why he had gone to China before he met her.
  14. We are in the same boat, waiting on the 10yr greenie but I'm waiting till it gets here before we book our trip. Good luck and have a safe trip!
  15. I started looking at DFW to Guilin and found some flights for $,1069 for October, now if that dang 10 year greencard would come in the mail already! Had to play with the dates to find this.
  16. Yep, a beautiful place to visit and just a little taxi ride from Guilin. I can't wait to go back to visit my wife's family and get another one of those 3 hour massages for $18 dollars.
  17. We filed the I-751 in March and are still waiting. My wife got her drivers license, they had initially had the license expiration date the same as the 2 year greencard expiration. We brought the I-751 receipt letter when she passed the test to change the date and they had problems trying to change the DL expiration date. When we received the wife's DL we found that the date was not changed and expired 5 days later. Now waiting on the 10 yr greencard before we go back to have it changed and probably pay the extra $25.
  18. The step daughter will be CR-2, you will need the G-325a for you and your step daughter and a copy of your birth certificate. Opps, sorry I see you are filing DCF so I'm not sure what is needed.
  19. You need to book using her maiden name to match the passport and that is a great price to fly to China. My wife was asked why her name in her passport was different than her greencard and she told them that she took her husband's name and offered to show them her marriage certificate for proof but they said that it was not necessary. No big deal.
  20. I concur, Dan has been very helpful and very much appreciated! Congrats
  21. He will also need an 'Affidavit of Single Status' in order to marry in China unless this has changed.
  22. Yep, my wife also says not to buy her flowers because it is a waste of money. When she came to the US a little over 2 years ago I met her at the airport with a dozen roses. She still has those sitting on the mantle all dried up! Every once in a while I will buy her some roses and she has placed them all over the house, not sure if it is to prove to me it is a waste of money or what. But for a mother in law, I don't think I would send her roses because she would probably wonder why waste money. I would have maybe sent her some vitamins or something to show interest in her health.
  23. When the plane is climbing in altitude and your baby has problems with the air pressure, you can give your baby a bottle to relieve the pressure on their ears. I have also heard that placing your hands over the baby's ears and gently pulling them away may help. Otherwise you may have a crying baby.
  24. Congrats and I hope all of your other dreams come true!
  25. Just an FYI, my wife's Visa had an expiration date of 5/01/12 and when she was leaving China to come back home in March they were giving my wife grief about her Visa being expired! My wife had to explain that her Visa expired May 1 and not Jan 5 as the date is month/day/year in the US.
