  1. Congratulations to you both, I know this is a HUGE relief, especially for your wife.
  2. Yes, book in her passport name but she should also take her marriage certificate so when she comes back to the US if they ask to see her Greencard, this will tie the names together. Better to be safe than sorry.
  3. Yeap, needed the Barcoded cover sheet but the 20 business days is from their worksheet. Should be a lot quicker than that!
  4. Congrats, that is one of the longest interviews I have heard of but all that matters is she passed.
  5. My wife took my last name which it shows on her greencard. Her chinese passport still has her maiden name though, because she said it would be to difficult to change it to my last name there in China.
  6. Hopefully a lot of his followers go out to sea to honor him and their boat sinks.
  7. Congrats and hope you two have a wonderful life together. My wife saw your photo and was asking if your wife was from Guilin also!
  8. Congratulations and thanks for the write up, since I wasn't at my wife's interview I tried to picture what she went through. I could not understand when she tried to explain it to me.
  9. Congrats, hope you two have a happy life together.
  10. Congratulations Tsap, been away for a few days and was hoping I would be able to read some good news about your case. Best wishes for you and your family to be together very soon!
  11. I would have tried to be at the interview but flew to Guilin in July and got married and when I got back to the US I immediately booked my December trip trying to get 2 trips in before the interview. But the interview was scheduled 2 weeks before my December trip, I was happy that it went quickly but sad that I was not there with my wife. I think it would definitely be a plus to be there if nothing else moral support because the SO will be scared to death of the interview.
  12. I also got spanked many times, sometimes deservedly so! There is a difference between a spanking and a beating.
  13. If they were in the US they would probably serve a few years in prison? This should open the eyes of anyone wanting to take drugs into China. http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/03/30/china.philippine.executions/index.html?hpt=Sbin#
  14. You should call and have it held for your wife's to catch up. When approved then notify them so that they will expedite the wife's to catch up with the son's. Not sure how much it would cost you for them to travel to Guangzhou and room and board for his interview and then again for your wifes. Also if your wife's case is hung up past the 6 months for some ungodly reason(based on your luck so far) then the son would need to fly to US by himself. My friend had this problem and the mother had to fly to the US before her 6 month ended then flew back to China for her daughter's interview which was after hers.
  15. Congrats, time to bring your better half home and start the best part of your happy life together.
  16. I'm with Charles, I had my wife start signing in pinyin. If she signs for credit card receipt and you have some cashier thinking she is illegal or has a stolen credit card at least they could see the signature matches the name.
  17. Not sure about the testing of the electronic filing, I filed electronically October of 2009 and it was alot quicker than snail mail. Good luck hope you get case complete soon!
  18. You can get it done stateside (I did). Here's how: write your statement that states how you are currently eligible to marry and have it notarized. Send the notarized statement to the Secretary of State's office. Your Secretary of State's office should have a section on their website that explains what to do, where to send, etc. Once you receive the statement and accompanying document back, send it to the Chinese Consulate that has jurisdiction for your state (in some cases, this is the Embassy in DC). The Consulate (or Embassy) will have instructions on their respective websites on what to do. Aside from skipping the visit to GUZ, is there any advantage to doing it this way? Also, how long would it likely take at the Embassy? I had read that some people were having problems with people in China rejecting certs issued here in the states and that is why I was thinking of getting it at GUZ. My flight leaves for over there the middle of next month. My wife's friend's husband from the states brought his Affidavit of Single Status from stateside and was denied, he had to go to GUZ. He was telling me how upset he was when they told him he needed to go to GUZ. The funny thing is I used his as a template when I had mine done from stateside and it was accepted.
  19. I have SSN. My husband is USC. When I were in USA, we filed joint tax return. But in 2010 I lived and worked in China. So 2555 form is the only additional form for us to fill out? Thank you. You would also need to include a letter stating that both you and your husband are electing to be treated as a resident alien for the 2010 tax season. You would then have a worksheet with your income and the conversion rate to USD and this will be included on the 1040 line 7 for combined wages and then your income would be on line 21 for Other Income as a negative to subtract it back out with the description of: FORM 2555.
  20. Why only skype once a week, she will learn English quicker with you 2 communicating on skype? She probably does not feel comfortable with her lack of English and is afraid of you thinking she is not intelligent.
  21. Thanks for the info buddy. No, they never sent either one of us an E-mail. They sent me a 6 page packet in the mail. The packet includes a page which they call the AOS processing fee Bill Invoice. It has... A barcode on it my name on it son's GUZ number Invoice date Amount ($88) and most importantly.... Invoice I.D. number The packet has a Barcoded DS-3032 in it which has the son's name and GUZ number typed on it. I think they have slipped in a major change on the procedure of this stuff of recent. No e-mail sent to either of us. I did everything according to the 2 instructions sheets and e-mailed in the OPTIN and DS-3032 on Feb 21st exactly as they said to do now. 1) Pay the AOS fee at www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov and get the cover sheet after they mark it paid, for the next steps. 2) Write OPTIN (followed by the GUZ number) in the subject line of an e-mail to NVCElectronic@state.gov and scan the DS-3032 to a PDF file and attach it to the e-mail. 2a) The body of the e-mail must have an e-mail address for the applicant, his name, his birth date, petitioner's name, petitioner's birth date, and petitioner's e-mail address. I did everything exactly as they specified. Again, it appears there has been a change in their procedures....once again. tsap seui Tsap, when you got your son's case number did you receive it in the mail or by phone? I am asking this because if you called you should have given them yours and your wifes email addresses. I am thinking they do not have record of your email address so this is why the DS-3032 was not emailed to you.
  22. Congrats, your wife did a good job studying your prior divorces. GUZ threw everything at you and you came out a winner, good job.
  23. I paid before I had the GZO number but I waited until I had this new number before I printed the receipt to scan and send in the I-864(AOS) documents. After paying the payment site will give some kind of error, I cannot remember what it said but they were just transfering my payments from the GUZ to the new GZO number and after completing I was able to get back into the payment portal to print out the receipts.
  24. A little confused by this. I would think one does the OPTIN first, before sending fees since how do they know to apply it to an e-process? DO you have a link for the online payment? YOu could be very right David. How it worked for me (and I have not got an answer to my optin e-mail) was this. I got teh letter from NVC saying it was time for the son's application to be processed. THey gave me a GUZ number and a receit number. This receit number is of upmost importance, that and the GUZ number is how you pay your bill ($88). I paid hte $88 on-line. Went to their website and verified in a few days that the bill was paid. Then....I sent in the OPTIN e-mail with the DS-3032 attached. Near as I can tell the address is https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx The site is called U.S. Department of State Consular Electronic Application Center That is where I paid and how I saw the payment was processed and I got my cover sheet for sending in more evidence. I did not use the cover sheet when I opted in, I did not have it then. Maybe I have made a mess of things, I don't know. I just sent in the money the day I got the NVC letter. Then sent in the OPTIN letter addressed the way they tell you to address it. Again, you can only sign into the site above with your GUZ number and the receit number you get with the snail mail letter you get from NVC. We'll see if I messed up or not. tsap seui No worries, when they assign your new GZO*** this will also be updated. This is how I processed through, you just cannot send you I-864 & DS-230 documents in until you have your new GZO*** number.
