  1. AWESOME NEWS! It sounds like GUZ is starting to churn out the P3s and P4s now.
  2. Paula, I'm so happy that you are now at your new home in the USA. It has been a long and difficult road for you, but you never gave up. CONGRATS!!! WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!
  3. CONGRATS! It is great to hear such wonderful news. Make sure she has her single entry visa for Texas in her passport. I know how you Texans like to think Texas is a country in itself.
  4. Ron, I think he is referring to the police certificates, singlehood certificates and other documents that are in Chinese.
  5. Sirlancelot, I too find CTSHORE's diatribe insulting. He seems to think he has everything figured out, but actually has nothing figured out. He does not even heed his own advice. Or perhaps only he is smart enough to shift through the "so called" bad Shenzhen girls to find a good one. I find his comments that equate uneducated, country girls with prostitution to be moronic. Sure, we all know that some girls from the country end up at KTV bars, but I am quite sure some city girls also can be found there. Furthermore, his logic that he has the right to condemn Shenzhen women because he has lived there is nonsensical at best. I sincerely doubt that he has dated a representative sample of Shenzhen women to draw these ridiculous conclusions. If he had, he would not have time to be pontificating on CFL. Personally, I think CTSHORE'S negative experiences have grossly influenced his opinions.
  6. Congrats on your wife making the impossible possible. Now, get to cleaning!
  7. Thanks for the link David. I did a search before I posted the question, but somehow I didn't come across your previous post in my search bresults.
  8. Does anyone know of a bank in Beijing where the k-1 visa fee can be paid? The CITIC bank list, included with the P3 packet, does not list any branches in Beijing.
  9. Has anyone here used the Rosetta Stone software package to learn Mandarin? I just got a copy and I hope that it is as good as it is hyped up to be. Please share your experiences with this product.
  10. You guys can look at my timeline to see how things are tracking post-IMBRA. We received our P3 very quickly after the paper copy arrived. I think they pretty much get everything done based on the electronic copy and then send the P3 out once the paper copy arrives. This is assuming there were no problems with your file.
  11. It is so unfair to negatively stereotype "all" of the women from Shenzhen. That is like saying all of the women from Miami are bad.
  12. I read this too late to put in my input prior to your decision, but I must say that I think you and your daughter made the right decision. While it is a shame that the Nazis misused this anicient symbol, it will always be remembered as a symbol of hate and genocide. There is no need to display a symbol that causes many to have memories of pain and suffering. While the schoolchildren probably would not have this reaction, the teacher or others that will see this presentation might. I don't think this is a political correctness issue. Even I as a white male recoil when I see a swastika and suddenly have pictures in my mind of stacks of emaciated bodies that I have seen in books. After reading, "The Rape of Nanking", I now have this involuntary reaction when I see a Rising Sun Japanese flag. I regret this as I have many friends that are Japanese nationals and I was even engaged to a Japanese girl once, but some things are so horrific that even reading about it leads to a permanent imprint on your psyche.
  13. Talk about a MERRY CHRISTMAS! Congrats to you both!
  14. Dnoblett, she got it last month so we are okay on the one year issue.
  15. Thanks Sirlancelot! I feel better now. : ) I'm going to get an ulcer over all of this paperwork yet.
  16. Thanks everyone for your well wishes. I have no doubt that Wendy and i would not be this far along were it not for all of the helpful advice and assistance offered by everyone here on CFL. So, I'm sending a big Mississippi "THANK YOU" to everyone on here that has kindly and patiently answered my questions and listened to my rants. Also, be prepared for a last salvo of questions as I nervously await the interview. : ) I need to be sure our kitchen sink approach does not have any leaks. : )
  17. My SO has obtained a police certificate from her hometown in Jilin, but she has also lived in Beijing for several years. Does she need a police certificate from Beijing as well? I asked her to try to get one in Beijing and the authorities there told her she only needed one from her hometown, but I guess I'm hung up on the language that says visa recipients need police certificates from every locality they have resided in for six months or more. Thanks in advance for all answers. Juette
  18. Donahso, I did leave out a significant detail there. The interview is scheduled for January 4.
  19. My SO texted me that she got the P4 today. We are so excited, because we were not really expecting to get it until January. It took just a little over a month from P3 to P4. I wanted to let everyone know our good news and also to let others know that got their P3 around the end of November that they should be getting their P4 very soon, too.
  20. Yeah, it sounds like Paula had a lot of fun once she got that visa. I see that I'm not the only one that likes to shop on CFL.
  21. SirLancelot, the POE was Detroit and you are right I'm sure that it was an Immigrations officer. As I did not have a lot of time to make my connection, asking to see a supervisor would have only compounded my frustrations and my problems. One has to choose his or her battles, and refusing to answer questions from a law enforcement officer will only cause more problems in my opinion. Sure, you will probably come out ahead in the long run, but is it really worth the hassle? It is sort of ironic that I have received my share of harassment from law enforcement, and I think I'm one of the few people that respects the job that men and women in uniform do.
  22. I would hold off on buying those tickets. Not to be pessimistic, but according to your timeline your SO does not even have her visa yet. Also, I think you are asking for trouble by traveling without her having a green card.
  23. Hello Everyone, Upon returning to the USA from my latest trip to China I got interrogated by the US Customs Officer. Has this happened to others when they go through customs? Here are a few of the questions I remember. Why did you go to China? visiting fiancee and relatives How did you meet your fiancee? online Did you meet her on one of those sites where you can put in all of the things you want in a woman and they give you exactly what you want? This questioned offended me and I think he realized it and became more probing. I answered a gruff "No" to this question. I did meet my fiancee online, but I actually first emailed her when I was already in Beijing. I emailed her and we met the next day. Then he asked me, "What is her age? 27 What is your age? 35 What kind of job does she have? receptionist/student Is this your first time to meet her? I was then answering with short one word answers... "No" How many times have you been to China? I said 4 Have you traveled a lot abroad? yes What kind of work do you do? university administrator Then he remarks, "good luck with that relationship." He sounded cynical. The whole process left a bad taste in my mouth. I just wondered if others go through this same demeaning process.
  24. Paula, I'm so happy for you! I think you have had to endure more than most in this process. I know that the entire CFL family is rejoicing with you today. I know that you are so excited that you will be moving to your new home in the USA very soon.
