  1. This sounds very fishy. Adult film stars even rarely make that kind of money. I read where one of Sheen's porno star girlfriends was going to be making $120 K with Vivid, but the article says that typically contract, female adult films stars make around $60 K, but most porn actresses don't even make close to 60K because most are not on contract. It sounds like this young lady is going to be in a mess when she gets here. It definitely sounds too good to be true.
  2. Hello everyone, It has been a while since I have been on CFL. Some of the oldtimers on here might remember me. Laopo and I are doing very well. She has now been here almost four years and has adjusted very well. Wendy is now working as a certified nurse's aide and is attending a local community college in hopes of becoming a licensed practical nurse. we just noticed that her Chinese passport expires in May. Do we have to go to a Chinese consulate in person to renew the passport or can it be mailed? I appreciate any information that can be provided on the passport renewal process. thanks, Juette & Wendy
  3. Congrats - Now, Yu can hit the shopping malls anytime she wants.
  4. Hello all, My wife and I just returned from a hunting trip and we had an early Christmas gift awaiting us. We rec'd the ten year card in a little over four months. : ) I just wanted to let everyone know, because I know there are others waiting to receive theirs as well. Juette and Xuedong
  5. My wife's two year green card expires on 8/17 of this year. We were planning on mailing the I-751 on 5/17 or soon thereafter, but now she is planning on going to China for one month starting on 5/29, as I have a month-long university trip to South Africa during this time. My question is, should we file on 5/17 and risk missing the biometrics appt. or should we wait until we are both back in the country and file on July 1? Thanks for any input that you can offer.
  6. The wife is PRC citizen. The husband is US citizen. I'm not sure how they plan for him to stay in China. If I know his wife, she has found a way. I'll check with her and get back to you. I know their house in the USA is for sale and once it sells they are moving to China, permanently. Also, they have already bought a house in China.
  7. I have some friends that will be retiring and moving to China this year. They need to ship household items and a large book collection to China. They are located in eastern, TN. Does anyone know of any shipping services that they could use that will not be so cost prohibitive? I'm thinking it would be best to ship by shipping container. Any help or advice that anyone could offer will be appreciated. Thanks, Juette

Tim, Wendy and I were so heartbroken when we heard the news. We are keeping you and Shufen in our prayers. I know that you will be strong for her during this diffcult time and that you will both get through this. Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to help. Your friends, Juette & Wendy
  9. I have a friend that has come to me for assistance on bringing his fiancee and her minor child from the Philippines. Am I correct in my thinking that his filing for a K-1 visa (I-129F) will allow the fiancee and the minor child to come to the USA at the same time? Is there any separate paperwork that needs to be filed on the minor child?
  10. In Mississippi they are very serious. If your cellphone has a camera capability you must return it to your car. I had to jog about a 1/2 mile to where our car was parked and leave our phones there. They have scanners at the Mississippi office, so hiding it in a purse is not likely to work. Juette
  11. I'm glad I'm not the only one that was troubled by that.
  12. "I would not do it. Too much risk. Too many unknowns." JimJulian's advice is sound.
  13. Thanks everyone for your congrats. An update on Wendy - she is learning how to prepare Southern-style cooking. Last weekend she learned how to fry catfish and make cornbread. This weekend she wants to learn how to make a buttermilk pie. She watches my grandmother like a hawk when she cooks. : ) My grandmother loves the attention, as her other grandaughters show very little interest in cooking. RLS, we were happy that we could help. After all, that is what friends do. Your new avatar looks great.
  14. We rec'd Welcome letter to USA today. Our AOS was approved without an interview. The statement advises that we should get the green card in the mail within 2-3 weeks. Laopo is very excited! It looks like I wasted money on the EAD card now, but I felt I better hedge my bet. I hope everyone elses AOS application proceeds quickly.
  15. Thanks for sharing. A truly insightful article and I agree with it wholeheartedly.
  16. My wife refuses to talk about these issues, too. What I did was to prepare an envelope with information on all of our accounts, assets, investments, properties, etc., and give detailed instructions on what she needs to do in the event of my death. I also give her advice on her options (like liquidating assets and going back to China or making the money work for her and staying in the USA). I also have listed two very trustworthy individuals to assist her with the financial matters. I'll have to update this envelope on an annual basis. The envelope is in our fire-proof safe and I hope she doesn't need to open it for many years.

  19. I am chinese woman with american husband. I expect my husband being very sweet, very loving, very spoiling me, but also can ean a lot money, save a lot money, and spend a lot on ME!!! oh, forget mention listening to me. Do I ask too much????? You ask the same thing any American girl would want, except for maybe the saving money part.
  20. My wife and will be going to the dentist to get some work done on the 26th. Two porcelain crowns for me and I'm thinking at least one porcelain crown or veneer for her due to a cracked tooth from a bicycle accident. I think you can never go wrong getting braces. I bet she is excited!
  21. The clock starts ticking when she steps foot on USA soil. Congrats on getting the visa. Let the fun times begin! When will she arrive?
