  1. She Passed! Praise be to God! She said that her interview was extremely quick, about two minutes long. She didn't even have the chance to open her backpack filled with evidence. The interviewer conducted the whole interview in Chinese, but since my wife is fluent in English, she responded completely in English. She said it was funny scene to have an American speaking Chinese to a Chinese speaking English. She first handed them both of our passports, and they asked if I was there. She said no, and that I sent it to her. She said I was there a month before, and then mailed it right after. Next, the interviewer asked where we met, and when we were married. The interviewer then asked if she met my parents, and then asked for pictures. They talked about the wedding a bit, and then my wife asked if she wanted to see other pictures of our relationship, and the interviewer said no. After that, interview approved.
  2. My wife's interview is this evening, and I am so nervous, and I think I am going to be sick. I will let you know the results and the questions they ask. Thank you for all of your help and advice! It means so much.
  3. Hello All, When my wife begins her interview on Monday, I told her to hand the Visa officer both my passport and her passport. Also, she will hand a letter from me describing our relationship. Does this sound OK to everyone? I won't be able to be in China, but my wife has my passport. It has my records of my past residency in China. Thank you for your help!
  4. My wife's interview is coming up soon, and I had a couple questions. Since I visited her over Thanksgiving break, I brought all the pay stubs and printed emails and phone call documents with me. However, I just realized that she will go to her December 18th interview with the most recent pay stubs, emails, and phone calls dating to early November. Is this a problem, or should I fax the most updated pay stubs and such to her? Thank you very much!
  5. You said that that your wife's police certificate from England was expired. Was it older than a year, or was it a shorter time? What did your England police certificate look like? My wife's is from Australia, and it is actually a very simple piece of paper that doesn't look very official at all. Thank you!
  6. Wow! Great advice everyone! Thank you so much. With you advice, I think I am going to go to the US Virgin Islands instead. It seems MUCH easier (no worries about Visas and things). You are right, it is a better idea to keep in the USA. And just to confirm, with the I-551 stamp in her passport (we did DCF), we can also re-enter from the Virgin Islands (even if we end up going through immigration). She is not a F-1 Visa holder. On a side note, even without her green card, this I-551 stamp shows she is a permanent resident - right? So if there is an emergency and she has to go home, she can still come back into the USA, right?
  7. Hello! I am about to buy two airline tickets, and I just wanted to confirm before I made the purchase. My wife should be arriving at the end of December, and we plan to take a trip to the Bahamas right after she enters the USA. Will she have a problem re-entering the USA after we finish our trip? We did a DCF in Beijing, but she won't have her green card yet. Is there anything we should watch out for? Are we taking any chances by leaving so soon after entering? The last thing I want is to finally have my wife get into the USA, only for her to get preventing from re-entry after our Honeymoon. It would be a nightmare indeed! Thank you for your thoughts.
  8. Hello All! My wife has her police certificate from Australia, but I was curious if it needs to be notarized? Or is this only for Chinese police certificates? I don't know if I even can notarize an Australian police certificate. Also, since my wife is doing DCF, where does she pay her immigration fee? At the CITIC bank, or at the Embassy? Thank you so much for all of your help!
  9. Hello! My wife's interview is on December 18th. How old can her police certificate be? 4 weeks, 6 weeks? We are trying to decide when to get them done. We are thinking of doing them on Monday.
  10. Hello All, My wife is currently in the final stages of her immigration, and we are planning a little trip to the Bahamas when she gets here. We did a DCF in Beijing, and we were curious if we could go to the Bahamas right after she arrives, or do we have to wait for her green card? Will the stamp in her passport allow unlimited exit and entry to the USA, or just one entry until she gets her Greencard? Thank you so much!
  11. My wife has an M.A. from an Australian University - will this put her at a disadvantage? She would like to do something in the media industry in the USA. I am really nervous now. What should we do to prepare for any questions by the embassy? Should she not say that she would like to work in the media industry in the USA? Thank you for your advice.
  12. Hello, On page four of the family composition sheet, I am supposed to list my family. However, it only asks for Chinese Name and Pinyin. Does this mean if they don't have Chinese names, I don't put down their names and put in "N/A" instead? Any advice is appreciated! Neil
  13. Hello! We received our P4 on October 26 (three days after they sent it out). Best of luck!
  14. I would have to say that you are definitely pursuing a very bad idea. Your best option would be to marry in China and go through the immigration procedures this way. I worked in Jiaozuo (1 hour from Zhengzhou) last year, and also married a wonderful Chinese woman. We married in China, and filed our application directly in Beijing. This is what you will want to do. I will be happy to lead you through the procedures. It is called DCF "Direct Consular Filing." It takes on average about 6-7 months from the point of filing to entering the USA. The best part is when she enters the USA, she will automatically be given a SS# and Green Card. You found an amazing resource with many people who will help you along this sometimes confusing path. Welcome, and we are here to answer your questions. (Also, be sure to look through the FAQ on this website, they are very helpful!)
  15. Hello All, On the Family Composition Sheet, I had a few questions: 1) On line #5, what does it mean by "when/how did the petitioner enter the USA?" I am really confused about what it is asking. 2) On the 3rd page, it asks about her family's entry/exit to the USA? What is this about? It doesn't apply to my wife's family at all. Do I just put N/A all the way down? 3) Finally, I have been hearing a lot of things about notifying the embassy if I move my permanent address at this point, but I am a bit confused. I am moving in 1 week. Who should I notify, and how should this be done? Thank you all!
