  1. We went to SS Office again this morning. Fortunately a lady accepted our application form. We told her that my husband has been in US for 1 months and has not got his card yet. Here is what we got from her... Normally USCIS will apply SS card for immigrant. But not always. To avoid multiple numbers applied to one person, SSA will tell immigrant wait for 1 month or so. If he still not get it from mail, then SSA will accept the application. She entered our info in a computer and gave us a receipt, which saying 2 weeks from now, the SS card will be emailed to our address. So, we are crossing fingers now, and see we really got it in 2 weeks.
  2. Hell Friends, My husband has entered into USA with IR1 visa a month ago. We were told that Social Security Card will be sent shortly after his arrival. It has been a month.... Does anyone know approximately when we will receive? We live in California. We even went to SS office in my city, but they would not tell us (or would not know) because it is USCIS applied the number. He needs SSN in order to take driver license test. Appreciate your help and answer!!
  3. After 2 blue slips, We finally got a letter from GUZ over the weekend. They asked us to submit my husband's passport from Monday to Wednesday. So my honey is on the way to Guangzhou now. I would like to ask your opinion on this. We already married for 2 years. Should my husband ask Consulate to lift the case from CR1 to IR1 on the spot when he submits his passport? (I wrote an email to GUZ a month ago about this, but found out from DOS that they have not made any change yet). We really would not like to add more complexity to the case. It has been long process for us to come to this point. If there is any slight chance to delay the process, we will definitely keep it silent. But if we don¡¯t' say anything and GUZ did not notice it either, how can we remove the two-year condition once he enters to USA (since two years already passed)? Thanks a lot for your input.
  4. She will not get visa at the same day. She will only get either pink or blue. Hopefully pink, then she can pay the visa fee right away. Two days later, she can pick up her passport from post office which is only 15-20 minutes of walking distance. Best luck to you!
  5. Hello, Chucky, Thank you for your information. One good thing is your case at least still moving. So it will soon come to the end with good news. I just called DOS and they told me that name check was already completed in US. They could not tell me if additional name check is required or not, but just said the case is pending. Well, if assuming no name check is required, what it's pending for?? I really don't have idea.
  6. I am sure it will definitely help by asking senator to send an inquiry to GUZ. I am thinking about doing the same thing too if I don't hear from them in another month or so. Good louck to both of us!
  7. Well, this is really a penalty from having higher education. So, why more security checks needed if they already done one? Is that true that security check can be different if involves different countries?
  8. Hello, my dear friends in CFL, Wondering if anyone can give us an idea on what GUZ is actually looking/considering on our case. My husband and I married in Nov. 2004 (Yes, 2-year anniversary in a few days!) This is the first marriage for both of us. We are about the same age, and have similar education degree and same language. I have visited him 7 times in 2 years in China. So our case is fairly easy and simple. We had an CR1 interview in September, but got a blue slip. VO said she is fine with everything except needs my husband's resume. (He is a beneficiary). My husband has been in Russia for many years for work and for his PhD degree. He studies Psychology, and works part time as a branch manager for Chinese company doing trading business. We submitted the resume 3 weeks ago but got another blue slip. This time, they did not ask anything more but said just wait for 3 months for result. What is GUZ considering? The only thing we can think about is his background in Russia. We had his official police report from Russia, and the name check should have been done. Do you think GUZ needs to conduct more name check? Appreciate very much for your insight. Thank you!
  9. We are scheduled to submit our overcome document on 10/10. This is our first overcome and hope to be the last too. I heard a several instances in CFL here that some people actually had multiple overcomes, which is really beyond my apprehension. Why not GUZ tell us at the same time what they want? GUZ only requested for my husband's resume and we learn not to give them more information then they want. But at the same time, we would like to show them any possible information they want to see, in case they come after us again? So what should we do? Appreciate any advice. Another question... Will the same VO (the one conducted the interview) review the overcome document we submit? Or it may go to any VO? Thanks!
  10. Dear friends, Here is another question. We will have 2-year anniversary in November. My husband has made an appointment to submit an overcome document on 10/10. If everything goes OK (we deeply praying for this), we expect to get a final approval a couple of days later. He doesn't plan to come to US until Mid November. So by the time he comes to US, we would be married for 2 years. Will he have problems to come to US? Is his visa (the one GUZ is going to issue him based on CR1) valid? or should we tell GUZ now to change it to IR1? Thanks a lot for sharing!
  11. We got a blue slip for a very very small thing. We have been completely unaware of this requirement- my husband's resume. My husband has PHD degree and has traveled a lot to Russia. GUZ requested for his resume. We got caught unguard. Fortunately this is a simple overcome. But the question is should we mail it through the post office or should we make another appointment and personaly present the document in GUZ? Timing wide, which one is faster? My husband told me that the VO definitely has already determined the outcome. The 3 or 5 minute interivew is just a confirmation from VO's point of view. We also learn a lesson -- If your SO has higher education, it's better to have resume ready. Thanks for your response!
  12. Congratulations!!! What a surprise! A big step closer! Agree! CFL is the ONLY place!
  13. Hello, guys, I am trying to prepare all document I need to bring to China for our CR1 interview. Just wondering if I need to NOTARIZE the following documents: 1) a copy of the Passport: (I will accompany my SO for the interview, so VO can see the actual passport. But should I still make a copy of it and notarize it? ) 2) Form I-864: (It has been a few months since last time I submitted the notarized I-864 to NVC. Do I need to submit a new one (of course notarize it first)? ) 3) the past 3 year tax returns I know my SO needs to prepare notarized birth certificate and police report. But do I miss anything else from my side?
  14. Congratulation!!! You said 14 out 20 were blue. It's about 70%. I read an article in a newspaper last weekend. It was estimated 40% of approval rate for cases in GUZ. These numbers are close. Well, as long as we prepare all docs and tell the true, we should be just fine.
