1. Yes, I think your luck has turned your way! Just smile and be happy for where you are and who you are with. I am glad that GUZ will proceed with the interview, that is good. I hope you get good news on the tickets too. -James
2. I wish I was touched! But I guess I have to wait until August for my next visit to China... -James
3. Hello, I would like to start a 'places to visit in Liaoning Province' topic since I will be there (Shenyang and close by) in August for Loving Candle's birthday. -James
4. Welcome! You are certainly at the right place. I was also blessed with finding CFL before the I-129F filing. I think that all there is to be learned here is so worthwhile. -James
5. I am so sorry to hear this. I hope that you are able to go to the ACH and press the issue. Talk to anybody that you can get to at the consulate and don't accept no for an answer. This is their fault. -James
6. My first call to DOS gave me my first "I'm sorry, but GUZ has not received your case yet..." So I guess we are at the gateway probably. AND I was worried I might have to reschedule my August visit for Loving Candle's birthday because we might get the interview first! Silly me.... -James
7. Congratulations! I must check on my case now! -James
8. Congratulations! Take a deep breath and keep reading! -James
9. Congratulations, I think you earned it! -James
10. Wait Lee, I thought blood was required only if the relative lived in Transylvania, not Romania. 205502 Transylvania is PART of Romania! -James
11. My former wife picked up a couple of bad habits from me too.... English was her primary language, but she spoke so much Spanish in the home with her mother that she knew almost NO colloquial english at all. She learned that 'pissed off' meant angry from the context in which I always used it. One day she was saying how 'pissed off' she had gotten at work and I commented: "Well honey, at least it is better than being pissed on". She stopped, looked thoughtful and then asked what she was saying truly meant.... -James
12. Hi Bessie, I also do not approve of Unions at all. But I'm sure my father, who was a shop steward is turning over in his grave. This is your first job here. You should do what you must, work six months to get 'work experience' then quietly look for another job. It is MUCH easier for someone that has a job to get another job. NEVER say that you are unhappy where you are currently working. ALWAYS say that you want to better yourself. -James
13. Congratulations! One less worry. -James
14. That sounds VERY good Joanne! Do you have an electric crock-pot cooker? You can make a beef stew like this without watching it all day. Just brown the beef, then add the ingredients and let it sit while you shop or run other errands. -James
15. If April fool's is liars day is it still Aprill Fool's day???? I am so confused.... -James
16. CONGRATULATIONS!! Yes, let us know how the interview went! -James
17. Thanks Jim, Fortunatly we still have a little time to get it together and I feel a lot better knowing that I can be there too instead of having to send her in there all alone. We'll see how she does here over the next couple of days. 203542 Hi Jim, I wish I could offer anything more than encouragement, but as Jim Julian said nobody could doubt your relationship after meeting both of you. As an idea, Fresno City College has a language department with Chinese being taught. Maybe one of the instructors knows a student or coworker who could help? http://www.fresnocitycollege.edu/humanitie...ng/chinese.html -James
18. Congratulations! Our best wishes to you both. -James
19. These links provide guidance on appealing a USCIS decision to deny or revoke a petition and may be useful if it comes to that. Technically, a Department of State outright denial of a visa application, as opposed to a "blue slip" situation, is not appealable. 203347 Hi, In this case it looks to me like the USC needs to contact DOS and his Congress Person and Representative directly. A Chinese Citizen really has no rights at the consulate, so it is the USC that really needs to make things move. That attorney sounds pretty useless to me too. -James
20. Hello, Do you have a CPA? you probably need their advice on this. The extension is a simple form available at the post office, but BE CAREFUL about filing this if there is any chance you will owe taxes. An extension to file is just that, it is not an extension to pay believe it or not. Seek professional advice. Don't go to Jason Hewitt tax service, they have been confiscating customers refunds in collusion with collection agencies. H&R Block is staffed by part time people with very little expertise, be careful of them too. Find a good local tax service that is at least owned by a CPA. If they are an EA (Enrolled Agent) more the better. My tax guy is both. -James
