1. Hello, My SO wants to know what format the telephone number should be in for her address in China on the I-129F 86-0413-******* or (as dialed from the USA) 086-413-******* or (as dialed within China) +86 413 ******* We have all else for the I-129F and are just working the small details before we submit. -James
2. Hello, As little as $15.99! http://china-flower.annie.com.cn/list.asp?itemid=an-007 Free delivery too. I sent Moon Cakes also for the Moon Festival. -James
3. Hello, Flowers are great anytime! Truly the universal language of love. I sent my SO roses when we first became friends, and she was just completely thrilled. I use Annie Flowers. I am amazed that I can send a dozen roses half way around the world for less than around the block from my house. http://china-flower.annie.com.cn/ -James
4. Hello, Three notarial copies were about 300 RMB for us. -James
5. Hello, I have never had a problem with EMS, and now the USPS is offering guarantee days for China (since July). This is trackable online. http://www.usps.com/global/globalexpressmail.htm For documents the export slip should say documents and give a 0 value. The Guaranteed Expess mail is actually FedEx, but I have never used it. Global Priority Mail offers improved service times (usually), but no guarantees or tracking. I have used DHL for importing samples from the Philippines and it was a real pain. I believe that an address in Chinese is the real key to this. My SO has sent me a MS-WORD file with her work address in both English and Chinese. My next project is to make dual labels that I can put on all packages that I send to her from now on. The one EMS package that I sent to her addressed in English got to her work address fine, but it did take 8 days. -James
6. Hello, Thanks for the replies. I like the explanation letter, so I will do that. I am sensitive to these gaps, but I easily make the support requirement. I am employed full time at a good salary, I own two houses in California, I have money in the bank and an IRA. Thanks! -James
7. Hello, On the G-325A for both my SO and I we put NONE for File Number since we don't have one yet, right? And my employment history has an almost two year gap due to my staying home and fighting a life-and-death battle with my previous wife's cancer (I lost). My SO thinks I should only list employment, but I think it looks bad from a support view if it was involuntary. I actually am a semi-trained home health nurse, 8 college credits OJT. Anyways I want to list that as my employment during that time. What do you all think? -James
8. Hello, Thank you! My SO has trouble with the idea that if you don't have medical insurance you may be sick and go bankrupt or die. The concept is foreign to her. California is very bad in this respect, so I don't want to risk lack of coverage. I believe I will buy them travel medical just so we don't have to be really rushed about marraige when they get here. Thanks again!
9. Hello, I will file my I-129F very soon now. Can I please get comments about the automatic K2 for my SO's daughter? In particular I wish to know that no other forms or procedures are needed beyond naming her on the I-129F. She is 16 now if that has any impact.
10. Hello, I am probably being a LITTLE proactive here, but I would like to know about the experiences of other CFL members with bringing an over-16 child to the US with your SO. Please comment particularly on adoption and how you went about making sure medical insurance, etc. is in place.
11. The bank of China will also convert the Traveler's Checks 164310 Hello, Bank of China would NOT take my American Express Travelers checks, but my VISA card was just fine for a cash advance, with an expensive surcharge of course... -James
12. Hello, This is just a suggestion, but there are many OEM download only software sites selling OEM versions that are fully operational, but with no support or upgrade path. Here is one I found: http://www.markdownsoftware.com/acrobat_6.0_pro.html -James
13. Hello, There are many new forms at the USCIS website. The I-129F is of particular interest to me since I have not yet filed, but there are others. Those CFL members that have access to a full Adobe Acrobat can fill these forms and save the data. This allows emailing the completed forms back and forth with your SO. I have been doing this with my fiancee with forms I got from VisaPro. I will now switch to the fillable USCIS forms where they are available. My feeling is that since they are now officially providing fillable forms, and they have a warning about non-USCIS websites at the new forms link, they will now expect the forms that are available from them to be typed, not hand printed. http://uscis.gov/graphics/newforms.htm -James
14. Hello! Thanks to both you! My SO and I are now on version 4 of the address sheets we are using because of the length of her address(es)! Now, we will get to V5 and I think the process is worth it. This was worrying her more than anything since she insists she will not get mail sent to her home. She has formatted an Excel spreadsheet to be VERY close to the actual I-129F form address question sections. I will have her add the mailing address after her residence address with a clear note that it is the mailing address for her. Thanks again, -James
15. Hello, My SO had her declaration of single and the death certificate for her former husband prepared and notarized. We also prepared a formal Intent to Marry with both our declarations and had it notarized while I was there. These documents have her true residence address, as do all the other documents she has had done so far. BUT, she tells me that there is no secure mailbox at her home so she has all mail delivered to her company. Now, the I-129F only says 'address' but the G-325A clearly says 'residence address'. My feeling is I should use her residence address everywhere for consistency, but she says we really need to have the packet from the consulate delivered to her company or she probably won't receive it. Can I request that the packet be sent to a different address than used on all the forms? Would this be part of the cover letter for the I-129F? Has anyone had any actual experience with this situation? -James
16. I felt this was somewhat topical since many people here abandoned OneSuite and went to DynaSky after OneSuite crashed (which I was using too) holding all of our phone records in limbo. I just felt that everybody had a right to know they were giving their money to the same unrelaible company. -James 162391 I switched to DynaSky when OneSuite crashed. I was curious, as some of the voice menus were identical to OneSuite's. However, until the crash, OneSuite provided reliable and good quality service for the two years I've used them. I rarely had any trouble accessing the service (occasionally on holidays when the traffic was heavy), but otherwise pretty solid. I haven't gone back to OneSuite, and it really doesn't matter to me if they and DynaSky are the same company. 162934 Hello, Yes, I used OneSuite long before I met my SO, but I had set up a special account so that I could track the phone calls to China. Now that OneSuite is back up and I was able to print my records I am not so unhappy . I also was pleased with their service before the crash. I also opened up a DynaSky account when OneSuite crashed. A very attractive option was the offered feature of originating calls from China. However, the number DynaSky gave us for 'all of China' does not work for Liaoning Province. In addition, they only have support numbers for inside China that are in Taiwan or Hong Kong. They have not returned my fiancee's email (in Chinese) about this issue either. So, has anybody had their SO successfully originate a call from mainland China using DynaSky? -James 162957 Hello, An update from DynaSky: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Customer, Thank you for taking the time to inform us of your concern. It is our pleasure to assist you and ensure your satisfaction with our service. We would like to inform you that our access number in China is 1081-8111. Here's the steps that you need to follow when you want to make a call: 1. Dial the access number 2. Enter your card number 3. Dial the destination number (International 011+country code+area code+telephone number), (U.S. 1+area code+telephone number) Should you need further assistance or have additional questions, comments or concern, please contact 1-877-MY-eLIFE (693-5433) at your convenience. Thank you for using Dynasky. Yours, Dynasky Customer Service --------------------------------------------------------------------- My SO just tried this and the 1081-8111 does NOT work from North China. It is not a valid number there. -James
17. Hello, Express Mail (EMS) is a good compromise that I almost always use. It is handled by USPS so it is subject to the global PT&T contracts that are in place in most countries. I sell stuff on eBay worldwide, so I have shipped to many countries. So far the only things I have sent EMS to China have been to my SO, but they went through fine. You get a tracking number with EMS. You should NOT send valuables this way, like jewelry and things. Documents are fine. -James

19. Hello to all on CFL I am nervously approaching my I-129F filing having returned from my wonderful journey to China almost two weeks ago. I was reconsidering using hand filled forms so I went to VisaPro to examine their fillable PDFs. There was a news item about a fee increase which I thought I should pass along. The I-129F is going up to $170 from $165. I am glad I saw this since it would have certainly resulted in a preliminary return of my submission for having the wrong fee. -James

21. OneSuite.com and DynaSky.com are the same! both are owned by Vertex Telecom I called my DynaSky local number and I got a canned apology from OneSuite! Then I did a web search and found the company that built all the websites for Vertex: http://www.vonleffern.com/work.php?page=client24 DynaSky claims local access numbers for China, but apparently they are for Taiwan and Hong Kong. My Fiancee can't use the number they gave me 'for all of China'. I think I have been had by OneSuite AGAIN! -James
