  1. UPdate on passport 1. no major isues getting the paport and the embassy personel were OK to deal with . One thing for sure is that they will reject the photos that you bring and require you to pay $10 to have their offical photos . There were about 40 people there when we arrived at 9:35 AM and there were 6 windows open . We left at 10:15 so other than being forced to drive 500 plus miles to get a passport renewed it was not a bad experience
  2. Here is an update on what we have found out so far 1. there are forms that have to be filled out in Chinese 2 need a money order need and express mail prepaid envelope 3. need a copy of your 2 year green card letter 4. need a copy of your passport I am sure there will be more and we will post are experience after we go to Houston
  3. I am still a Chinese citizen with a ten year green card, I may apply for the US citizen, but my Chinese passport will expire July 18, 2009. From the website, http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/hzqz/t84229.htm . that I need to go to Houston to renew my passport. Unfortunately from what I have read, the Chinese consulates no longer accept passport renewals through passport services unless you are very old or very young, the passport holder needs to visit the consulate to renew the passport. http://www.visarite.com/ChinaPassportExtension.htm This is very true, but at least you come away from it with an 10 year expiration date on the new one! yep- 10 years! no more 5 years. China quit mail-ins and passport services January 1, 2007.
  4. . . . And for that they're requiring another application (and fee) and another trip to the embassy? Yes isn't that great ? We got the form off the US government site , at that time we did not notice any statement that we had to use the the bejing site. I wonder what those people who do not have computer access are supposed to do ? Anyway , We need somehow to make sure that CFL can post the requirements for the vistors visas.
  5. Just learned that the applicant MUST use the forms provided on the website for each embassy . they don't like the standard USA form
  6. We learned today that Lisa's parents were Denied a Visa for visiting us in the USA . interview was in Bejing We completed everything required Lisa and I own 2 Farms free and clear that are worth $$ plus 2 other properties plus stocks so they could not complain about that or present income or bank funds or IRS tax returns Her parents were denied because get this Lisa has not returned to China to visit them Lisa has only been in the USA for 3.5 years and apparently we did not send enough photos of ourselves here in the USA we sent about 11 . so we will try again This time we will send with more pictures and a copy of Lisa's 10 year green card copy of Lisa's application for American citizenship copy of Lisa's college transcript and diploma (4.0) student Lisa's drivers license Joanie's drivers license Joanie's 10 year green card , Joanie's college transcript also a 4.0 student. Is there anywhere I can file a complaint about these VO's I mean they must stay up all night trying to find an excuse to deny Visa's I suppose if Lisa had visited her parents they would use that as an excuse to deny a visa Also parents are in their 70's have bank funds , own a house and have 3 children living in China
  7. Hi all Well Lisa and Joanie both received their 10 year permanent residence cards today took a long time( june 10 2006 for the original green card interview )but at least no more interviews after we applied for the adjustment of status . Really wish to thank all those at the Candle for the support and guidance given to us . This is really a big day for Lisa and Joanie
  8. That is Great news, I remember how great it felt when Lisa passed
  9. It's now cheaper to travel in China because of the weakening Yuan see www.marketwatch.com/news/China My wife's relatives have lots of US dollars because they sell some products and get US dollars back . The economy has been severely weakened and is much worse than reported. There is a lot of unemployment right now in China-
  10. Watch the video Jesse. Because that's one of the points of the piece. Yeah, it's a good way to make a little money...while you're being directly poisoned with toxic chemicals. I know Dave. Watching to poor of China can be pretty heart-wrenching. It is indeed a side of China that easily turns the hearts and stomachs of Westerners. I feel and care for these people, but honestly, they are doing the best they can with what they have. Not too far from our home is a garbage recycling facility. In it, you can see small children, women, young boys, and men all picking through garbage to salvage what they can to sell. Most modern countries are appalled at the site of this sort of thing. You can't just pull the plug on this, and make everything rosey. It will be a part of China for some time to come. Geez Jesse. Is there any lethal working condition we can impose on these people that you won't defend using the "doing the best with what they have" argument? Paraphrasing what the guy in the piece said: "We're asking them to choose between poverty and poisoning. We shouldn't be asking them to make that choice." I realize that if China wants to import this toxic crap and let poor people kill themselves salvaging it, that's their business. But we shouldn't have any part in contributing to it IMHO. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE HERE AT THE CANDLE SEEM TO DEFEND THE CORRUPT CHINESE GOVERNMENT AND AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE FIND FAULT WITH AMERICA. THANK GOD THERE ARE NOT THE KIND OF RESTRICTIONS HERE AS THERE ARE IN CHINA. REMEMBER THE 2 ELDERLY WOMEN WHO GOT RE-EDUCATED AT HARD LABOR FOR PETITONING TO PROTEST THE DESTRUCTION WITHOUT COMPENSION OF THEIR HOMES WHEN THE OLYMPIC GAMES WERE OVER. 11. I need some advice . My wife had the biometrics last year and we had to fly her daughter out from college to have hers done 2 days later . The 1 year extension runs out in June at which time my step daughter will be in Germany on a internship . My question is WILL SHE HAVE TO APPEAR FOR ANOTHER INTERVIEW TO GET HER 10 YEAR GREEN CARD ? THANKS
  12. She is the petitioner.. Thanks Mike somehow I thought that she was the beneficiary
  13. I don't know what to do about this , We already sent a letter to Both the TSC and VSC with No results . The letters have 10 different receipt numbers and the Last 5 letters that came in the mail today . They have my wife listed as the petitioner and Not the beneficiary !
  14. Yes they all reference the same case number however each letter has its own notification number What I worry about is all these other people who AREN"T getting their notices because of this also We were moved to the Vermont service center and were notifed about the change in January so We can't fiqure out why the TSC is now even involved
